5th Edition Spellbook

It's very intuitive and definitely worth money. But it seems you can only purchase the ads away for durations of time, instead of "Permanently" like it suggests. Plus they call it "beers" with no description as to what that even means. There are a few spelling mistakes in the settings as well. I would easily pay $50 if it had all the material from each book, or even $5 per book material. That way you can pick the content you want. It has a ton of good stuff AND LOTS OF DATA.

Core functionality works great! The UX for things like adding/removing spells from a spellbook is unintuitive, as is the process for adding new content (content list could really use an update, too). Most damningly, I paid to remove ads... but the ads are still there! Judging by reviews, I'm not the only one with this problem. Very dishonest! Otherwise, the app does do its job... and very well! Will continue to use it, and definitely worth checking out if you play D&D.

While the functionality is good, I can't use it for so many of my characters. With new races and spells being not being added from new sourcebooks, this is quickly becoming more and more obsolete. I understand it's staying in the SRD, but it is disheartening. None the less, you can input your own spells and such to effectively homebrew the new content in. While that's a turn of for most, I think it's as good as it can get if one doesn't want WotC wiping it off the market. Using it until I can't.

overall the app is great. i like the ability to have multiple characters without having to upgrade. however, it's disappointing to be missing anything that's not in the original PHB, including races. it's difficult to add in some of my characters when they're going to be inaccurate right off the bat, nevermind having to manually enter any spells from Xan's Guide, Elemental Evil, etc. update those things, and this is easily a 5 star app.

I love the clean look of this app, and the way it's really user friendly and straightforward to use and you can add anything, so it's homebrew friendly. Unfortunately you have to go to their website to add spells, and save a text file which you then transfer to your phone or tablet and import in the app. And I sometimes get a bug where the font size changes in app, so the spell list goes really big or small, and can only be fixed by closing and reopening the app. I do like this app, but with the lack of development spells from newer source books, I've moved to another app.

I absolutely adore this app! It's nice and easy to use and helps keep things together which is good because my brain is terrible at remembering what my spells do and what they even are for that matter! If I would have one complaint it would be that when you select 'Until dispelled' when making a custom spell, the text comes out as "up to until dispelled" which is a little bit frustrating. Other than that though it's wonderful!

It was good for a long while; was able to keep up with many characters and I was easily able to find spell effects, but when adds from an app override EVERYTHING ELSE and won't stop showing up, then I'm done with that app. This app is one of those apps. I would rather have a booklet with my spell effects and a book on spells rather than have this app.

I like the app, but i have a few issues. A number of spell descriptions are missing after the latest update. Also, as a DM, I would love to have an option to just open to all spells instead of spellbooks. A minor thing, but it would be helpful to save that extra bit of time when we are in combat and i want to double check a spell.

Wonderfully intuitive and legible. Makes it really easy to get people to play spellcasting classes just by getting then to download this app. Ads are infrequent and only pop up at times that seem specifically designed to never interrupt your D&D session (never when you open your character's spellbound for example.) It's been 7 months and they still haven't added the spells from Tasha's, but that's not an issue because you can easily create or edit spells in-app.

Great, easy to use app. For everyone complaining about the lack of XGtE and SCAG spells, if you go to "Get more spells" in the menu bar, it takes you to a page where you can download all those spells (the links are at the bottom of the page). My only issue is that sometimes when creating a new spellbook, it's already filled with some random spells that I can't delete or unprepare. If anyone knows a solution to this, I'd appreciate it.

This is a very hard review to write. The app itself works very well and is probably the best on the market. Unfortunately it hasn't been updated in a few years; it has the option that you can add everything yourself though. My biggest glaring issue is the adds, not only is now harder to clear the add from the screen. But I purchased to have adds removed permanently and am still receiving adds. I can't find that acceptable and believe this to be abandoned.

If you're playing a basic 5th edition campaign this app is well put together and mostly easy to use. However it features (almost) no expanded material such as things found in Volo's, Xanathars or any other OFFICIAL supplemental materials. That makes it basically unusable for anyone using new races or sub classes. Adding those features would make this app almost perfect, but it seems unlikely at this point.

The app works well. The UI design all work great. The issue is that there are a good amount of spells missing. One example being "Lightning lure". edit: you can install and add additional spells from Xtge and more. Getting everything in can be a hassle but once done its great.

I really do love this app, it comes out in every game session, really convenient for pulling up spell info quick, and I love the options for inserting your own custom spells as well, but for the past few weeks, it just crashes every time I open in. Genuinely really disappointed, it's one of the best tools for 5e outside of a good character sheet app, I'd love to be able to use it again!

Has great selection of spells, the organization is very well done. Takes a little time to find all the features, but allows for great personalization of spells. Can customize prepared and known spells, number of spell slots, able to sort by class and level. Has a few spelling errors, but it's a free app.

Great app! But there's a problem with the import function. Great that I can go to the "spells to download" to import new and updated spells (xtge, etc.). But then all I have is a file I've downloaded, and nothing obvious to do with it. The databases don't update. :/

Donated to the app and was blasted with another ad the next time I opened it. When I went to the support page it wanted access to my contacts list to get rid of the ads with no explanation or justification. I had my donation refunded as a result. It's a shame they're so sketchy because it's a solid app otherwise and I'd've been happy to made additional donations over time in appreciation of its value.

Has amazing controls, shortcuts and filters. Although it doesn't come with all the spells, you can download some of them from the website, which is cool. Only thing that would make it perfect would be the inclusion of the "Artificer" class, and *all* of the spells.

Everything about this app is great. Great format, group spells by pc, filter spells by source or types, etc. Even adds sound effects if youre into that. Edit: The app doesn't allow user inputed puctures for spellbooks. This function has worked for years, and now the puctures fail to load when adding new spellbooks. The old pictures still load, but when I replace them (even with pictures from the spellbook file native to my device) they fail to load.

very simple and useful design. only detracting factors are a lack of the spells in Xanathars guide to Everything, and it could do with some better spell slot management, such as for example a smite "spell" so someone playing a paladin or warlock doesnt have to use a random spell to show the slot being used. Hopefully it gets updated to include the Xanathars spells soon.

This is am excellent spell app. I appreciated having the seperate spell lists for all my lovely characters, and being able to upload their portraits to each spellbook. That makes it so much convenient! (and aesthetically pleasing) The search options are excellent. Even if I use spellcards I often choose my spells here first. After downloading the xgte spellbook, this app is unbeatable.
