Amazon Fire TV Remote App

The app has a difficult time connecting to the fire TV. It frequently fails to connect it all. And then after connecting it times out and one has to start all over again. When streaming, the app seems unable to to the fire stick. When I misplace my remote I think cannot use the app to change shows or turn the fire stick off. Ultimately, the real problem with the app is assuming one has a backup remote control. this is not the case.

Not awful, it serves it's purpose I guess, but Alexa doesn't work. It also won't open the settings so I can't configure anything. The data entry for the keyboard is also pretty infuriating, you can't navigate back through entered characters, only backspace, and it won't allow for pasting from clipboard. But it does perform the basic remote commands, so it does maintain SOME usefulness.

Not perfect, it doesn't keep the screen on, and the lock screen widget doesn't have all the controls so you have to constantly unlock to get to all the controls, but if you don't need to rewind or fast forward, just adjust volume, then the unlock problem isn't really an issue at all. Overall, very glad I have the app so I don't have to constantly hunt down the physical remote.

App won't always display the TV I want to control, I have 4 (Amazon TVs). Sometimes only the off tvs will display, almost never will the app connect to aa TV with a screen saver. If you're lucky restarting the tv,, the app, the wifi on the phone and. Finally some times even the phone will make the TV connect to the app. All this is inconvenient when you loose the remote, but it is better than nothing.... so 3/5 stars because it's crazy useful when it works....70% of the time.

Not the worst but pretty mind-blowing that one of the world's largest companies produces something so mediocre at what seems like a pretty simple function. Solid C-. It disconnects pretty frequently and often has a pretty long delay between pushing the buttons and action happening on the screen. If the remote is just lost somewhere in the living room I'll usually take the time to look for it rather than use the app because the time spent looking feels like less than the delay from using the app.

As disappointing as the remote. Had to download this app because the remote kept draining the batteries. It seemed like I was replacing the batteries every 2 weeks. But an app is too difficult to use because it lacks the tactical feedback of a remote. I'd rather use a remote, but I can't keep spending money on batteries. I'm probably going to abandon the Firestick completely and go with a Google Chromecast. Frustrating and disappointing.

It would be nice to have a slider for volume. Yes, yes, I understand, it doesn't control the TV, and you can do it by Voice through Alexa. But if you have the TV set at a medium volume, I find it hard to believe that the FireStick hardware doesn't have access to the audio at all. It seems like they would be able to control it somewhat through firmware on the stick. B😎B

The app is absolute trash, it started well and one day out of nowhere the app never found my firestick again, I've tried with my phone, my iPad, and other devices, it's all in the same network and I've reset everything multiple times, it's just a trash app, and I can't use my remote because it drains the battery so fast I have to change them daily, now I can't use the firestick at all, I guess I'm going back to Roku.

My dog chewed my remote, So I decided to just download the app instead of buying a new remote. It works fine 90% of the time. The other 10% looses signal to my device or when I'm trying to browse apps or channels it will loose control and zoom to fast, and I have to force stop the app for it to be normal again. I would still recommend this app It's convenient and FREE!

Frustrating Trash!!!! The amount of times I have had to uninstall then reinstall the app because it disconnects from my device & then can't find the device is ridiculous! Lately it just can't find my firestick at all even though it was just connected and working 15 minutes prior. The firestick is on & active but the app is so trash & sporadic it chooses when it will or will not work properly

This app isn't working for me. I have Uninstalled and reinstalled the app. I have tried many different "fixes" Amazon support for their products is horrible. When I get a chance I will be selling my Recast and will be looking at a Tablo or another device. Amazon seems to have some issue with Google, but shouldn't take that out on their customers. It's not just on this phone but many other devices both Android and IOS.

Similar enough to the remote that it's easy to use. Since it's on my phone it's lit up which is nice in the dark. I like the keybord option when you're on prime or Netflix. Make sure you've selected search from the Prime or Netflix app then use the keyboard. Only real issue is you disconnect from the remote and have to relaunch frequently.

It works fine as an app. You can control your fire stick with it. It's clumsier than an actual remote because you're dealing with a touch screen that turns off after a few seconds instead of dedicated physical buttons, but that is not the app's fault. What loss to the star for me, and why I'm finally writing this review, is because the app asks you every time you log into review it. I don't even want to be using the app right now I just can't find my remote at the moment.

Best invention ever. My phone is by me 24/7 those tiny remotes are constantly lost somewhere. I swear they are haunted lol 😆 they are always on the run. Ive been using the app for a while now and I really like it. It connects to whatever fire stick I want to watch quickly and without issues. Haven't had any problems with it. It works better than the actual remote. The keyboard feature is my favorite. You can use your phone to type and keep your pin or passwords private. It lacks TV functions.

I love the convenience of not having to find the remote every time I want to pause my show. However, this app will not stay connected to the device. It takes minutes to reconnect, its super buggy and will scroll continuously, it will pause or play at random intervals. I can honestly say that after years of owning firesticks, I will be switching to roku after this firestick dies, unless the developers can actually fix the issues I've listed.

As unreliable as the Fire TV's remote can be from being lost one minute to needing battery replacements to just not picking up a signal or having to pay money for a new remote, this app has saved the day on numerous occasions. It also saves time when typing the name of a show or movie. There's a built-in keyboard that you have an option to use instead of the search engine that takes forever to manuever through each letter..at... a... time. I'm glad I have this app on my phone. It's a life saver

More often than not, the app can't tell the difference between tapping a button for a brief instant or holding it for 5-10 seconds. Then it usually disconnects while scrolling so you can't possibly stop it. Then after you get it to reconnect, you have to find your place again. Its practically useless. I've had this same issue on 2 different phones now so it's definitely the app.

When it works properly, it's great. Unfortunately, much of the time it will not recognize my Fire Stick. They want another rating. Nope. Still the same. When it works, it's great. Most of the time, it's buggy as hell. Doesn't recognize the Firestick that's 20 feet away and has to be uninstalled/reinstalled. I've thought about just buying a remote from Amazon, because this unreliable POS is incredibly annoying. You can't tell me that smart people couldn't design a workable app. Aaand...still a 1.

This app did not connect to my Fire TV. First, it kept saying that it could not find a Fire Stick, but we have 2 active and nearby. And second, when I tried to connect to the right one, it said "Unable to connect" and "Make sure the Fire Stick is plugged in and on". But my Fire Stick was already plugged in and on. So, this does not work. Also, I'm looking for a mirroring app that can mirror my phone to my TV.

It's great when it works. But when it doesn't, I want to toss my phone across the room. It disconnects often and somehow can't find device when I try to reconnect EVEN THOUGH IT WAS JUST CONNECTED! I have to Uninstall and install just to get it to find my device but that doesn't work always. I have to do it multiple times. If my son didn't spill water on my remote, I would not be using this app 😤. I'm about to give up and buy a universal remote.

Horrible. Every single time it connects, it almost immediately disconnects. It's only connected long enough to choose a profile on the Firestick, then it disconnects and I'm unable to do anything. Extremely frustrating. My kids lost the remote and for a brief moment I had hope we would still be able to use the device.

Apps keeps disconnecting and then when a hit the down arrow once it keeps going down and won't stop. I have to back out go back in. When moving sideways to scroll through shows it just bounces between the first two shows listed. The voice option doesn't work all the time. I wasn't going to order a replacement remote but since the app is more trouble than it's worth I'm ordering the remote today.

Great alternative to the remote. The kids always end up losing my remote so I'm always using the app now. Only downside is that it gives you a 'sort of' widget in your notification bar or lock screen to control the TV without opening the app which is super useful BUT it doesn't go away and you can't swipe it away and sometimes it will be there for days, even when you're not using it or have left home and no longer in range of the fire TV

When I 1st installed work fine after update total nightmare. It will not connect and when it does constantly trying to connect. I spend more time waiting to connect. Replacement remotes are ridiculous high. I have 2 firesticks and both remotes went out at same time. Plain Crazy . "Review update" app asking for new device there is no new device. I can c remote behind it but will not let me go to remote. I'm done.

I have Firesticks on all of my TVs and some of the remotes are broken. I have been using this app for a very long time, even on the ones that still has working remotes, sometimes they're miss placed. Never have to worry for the times I can't find or not having a remote because I have my handy dandy app on my phones and tablets. I even tease my grandkids by changing the show on them, they change it back and I change it again. One time they told me something is wrong with the TV. Lol
