Great app. I use both the Android app and the mac app. I use it to help me with my French: I create cards with EN-FR phrases. It works, as long as you use it everyday and you create meaningful cards. The latest update and particularly the red dot on the sync button helps a lot to know which is the most current update. I would like to be able to edit easier the duration of the suggested repeat period. Keep it up
Life-changing goodness I've been using Anki for around 10 years, and it's literally changed my life, allowing me to learn Chinese to a level I could never have reached without it (I know, I tried various other methods for the previous 10 years; and it really matters: I now live and work in China). AnkiDroid is my daily companion, and is beautifully executed, remaining fully compatible with the desktop app, and bringing out the little extra right where it matters. Plus, it's Open Source!
Best flashcard app! Definitively 5 stars! I'm waiting for the new update 👍 By the way could you revamp the UI a bit ? I think I saw on your Google Groups that someone could be on the project; anyways, I'm totally supporting you if you decide to make a more modern interface, even if it makes the app a little less straightforward. As always, keep up the good work, you're more than amazing!
Critical app for language learning. I use it for Japanese, but it could be used for any language, or even any topic. Not just flashcards, but audio and video and graphics can be embedded. Your experience will vary greatly depending on the deck that you have, or create yourself. When used in combination with takoboto, you can create your own favorites and export them directly to anki for a custom words study deck on top of anything else. Overall, great app.
Very nice flash card program, with a wide variety of pre-existing cards, as well as a sophisticated templating system for designing and adding your own card decks. Also, the "spaced repetition" memory techniques employed by the app are the best I've seen! (Just don't get tempted to do more than 20 cards on your first day!)
I newly discovered this app upon my need to study Arabic and English vocab. which I encounter while reading books in both languages. I try to learn it. It looks owesome. I don't think there would be a more customizable app than this, which makes it excellent. I looked at many other similar apps. None of them can not even get close to it. I really thank all the people who worked for this huge service. Thank you a lot.
With anki and constant use in every day, my grades have just gone up. I remember things much easier. The fact that the synchronization is free, it is a game changer. I can use it at home, on my PC, but also on the go, for example in the bus. I do not know how much information I would have forgotten if anki were not to exist.
I really like Anki but I don't know why they have to stick to the old 90s computer layout. I wish they could just optimize the interface, it would really help with efficiency and accessibility. It took me too long to learn how to simply delete a specific card, or code certain card types. Although there is a ton of potential with card customization, It feels extremely inaccessible.
Insanely great app (and insanely generous web backend)! This changes the way to study completely. Syncing between ALL platforms is incredible and makes it so much easier to focus on material rather than spending time trying to get the logistics right. As a user on Windows, Mac, Linux, and Android, it is great to have an option for everything. The app is tidy and syncing is unobtrusive. Recommend to anyone studying a new language.
Best app for learning! I have never seen and used such a good app. It's easy to use and has so many features I like (adding photos, videos, having decks and sub decks (it helps a lot with organization). For now there are only two things to be changed that would help me a lot! One: add colours to texts (Thank You! Then I'm waiting for them patiently), two: change the order for flashcards (like to reorder them by hand or to number them- with lots of flashcards it may be quite hard).
I love this app because of the spaced repetition concept. When I know card content and don't need to keep seeing, I click "good" and don't have to keep seeing. It's so much more efficient. Once you get through one full card deck, the amount of cards you need to study becomes significantly smaller because you're only seeing the cards that you rated as difficult. I use this for learning Spanish, studying for my Real Estate Sales License, military courses, CLEP testing, and scripture memorization.
Anki is a lifesaver for all serious students, and having a free Android app is just way too generous! You can study offline... Wherever you are! A great use of time otherwise spent unproductively on social media or on games. Thank you all for your hard work with Ankidroid! I have a tiny suggestion: make an option to implement colour highlighting, like on desktop. Right now I have to code it in and can't see the colors... It will make editing cards easier, especially for colour finatics like me.
Firstly, phenomenal work. Making this app on your own time and making it freely available is munificent. Thank you. Secondly, and this is a technical problem, so please only address it if you have the time. I noticed that the app doesn't support the audio replay button CSS customization. I tried using the selectors from AnkiWeb website like .replay-button svg to customize the button. And it only worked on desktop (2.1.35), despite having the latest version of AnkiDroid.
Great app premise, very simple and like the user interface across devices. I'm having issues however with the chromebook version that runs android 101.0.4951.59 - Ankidroid doesn't allow image insertion, the app just closes spontaneously - this is significant for revision. Upon syncing this error messages pops up: "Collection synchronised Error syncing media data Disk I/O error (code 1546 SQLITE_IOERR_TRUNCATE)" Would appreciate some advice?
Love the the research behind the app design to increase retention. Loss of one star is related to the necessay, but overwhelming size of manuals without a simple search option for newbies. Is there a way to "print" pc and Android manuals? We don't care how many pages... Searching a large manual on lcd screens is extremely tiring on the eyes for seniors and difficult for those who are challenged with LDs. Please help. Thank you.
Perfect Anki client for Android. The UI is clean, simple and easy-to-use. Never had any issues with synchronisation, though I would love to see some form of alternative synchronisation (like with Google Drive or something), that way the users won't really need to have another online account. Love this app! Thank You Developer(s)!
It's a great app. It really boosted my grades (I'm currently doing my GCSEs), and I wish I discovered it earlier. However, it seems to have trouble syncing the flashcards across devices. This is really inconvenient. Otherwise, it's a good app.
Absolutely amazing thank you. Makes it a trillion times easier to learn anything!! Highly recommended you will not need any other flashcard app once you get this one. However, it's a little difficult managing cards on the Android version so it would be nice if that was improved.
Love it cause it has folder system that Quizlet lacks. BUT, some tweaks are needed: 1.1. - EDITING PANEL - it is inconvinient to delete codes each time you highlited something, better to do as in Microsoft Word or Quizlet when you just select the area. 1.2 - UNDO BUTTON - woud be great to have when editing cards. 2 - Speaking feature does not work.
I‘ve been using AnkiDroid for years now on Pixelbook and Chromebook Pixel 2. The app has always impressed me and other than minor glitches it has worked well, until today. I have written an email to the Developer but perhaps I need to mention it here. After a powerwash on the Pixelbook Anki wasn‘t working. So uninstalled, reinstalled and now it shows a signup page requiring email and p/w but the page is frozen and I can‘t enter anything. Tried uninstalling and turning off laptop, no change.
I really love this app. It's been one of my most important study tools and works very smoothly with the desktop version. Just one problem though. On the recent update, I can't find the "attach file" button. It seems it's been replaced by a drop-down button. edit: Oh yeah! The forced Xiaomi dark mode does look terrible on some apps. I should've figured that's the cause of the issue and not Ankidroid. Thanks a lot for your timely responses. Seven stars all the way!
Anki is a terrific platform that has helped me tremendously over the years in med school. However, the Android app has always been the one with most problems but at least performance didn't suffer. Since the last update I have been getting performance issues a lot. It takes a second to show the answer, it doesn't do it at once. I had issues with syncing but it resolved. Sometimes the app straight up freezes. It would be appreciated if this got fixed...
This app is very powerful. Problem is, all its features -- basic and advanced -- are made equally prominent in the menus and options. So it's difficult to find and use the BASIC features that 90% of people want. Yes, there's the manual -- but people just don't have the time to dig through it. It would be great if this app "tiered" its features so that all the basics were easily available and more advanced ones were more tucked away.
If you need help in memorising particular things, ie Chinese characters, irregular verbs, some boring stuff for exams -- this is an app for you. I use it for 7 years (including desktop version), and I am quite content with it. You can use other people's decks, or create your own -- creating your own takes some work, but in certain cases is invaluable
The app is great, I absolutely love it! I have encountered only one issue, that is : when I click card browser and try to scroll through my collection, the sub-menu comes back to the original place. It's pretty annoying because I have a lot of subdecks and it sometimes takes a few tries to reach my desired destination. If you could fix that, it would be awesome. It's not an issue with my phone, I've seen this bug on another phone too. Hope I made myself clear.. Great app nonetheless! Good job!
This is one of the few apps that I would definitely be willing to pay for. were it not free. Anki is the best flashcard system I have come across. The interface is very simple and intuitive. It's not a flashy system with animations or other bits of gamification. But one quickly tires of such gimmicks. It is very straight-forward to download "decks" of flashcards created by other users, and there is quite a good choice of user-generated material available via the ankiweb site, especially for language learners. There's a very rich array of settings that you can tweak, and stats about your learning progress that you can gloat over. However, none of this technical stuff makes it difficult to get started. Above all, as an implementation of the "spaced repetition" system of memorisation, it really works. I learned all the words in the Toki Pona language in about a week without really feeling like I was trying. I am now using it for Finnish, and feel like I am making solid progress. You sync your decks and your progress to "ankiweb", which means I can carry on practising on my tablet, and on my PC, or even via someone else's computer using the web version, if I am away for a few days.
Incredibly slow. Takes almost 1mn to import a 4mb list, why? And same for deleting it (it actually timeouts, the list just lingers in the app). Lots of the lists offered for downloading have poor content, full of mistakes, probably because whoever made it was learning the topic as it was created. Unfortunately, there are not enough reviews/editing capabilities to easily fix/curate those. Maybe users should be able to suggest amendments. It's a shame, because that's the only free one I know
