AppLock works when it wants to, as it doesn't always block the app I selected. And no, the app isn't blocked by Android it is indeed set to always be on. In addition, I really despise being greeted to a full screen ad when I unlock my phone. I totally get that it's a free app, but I'd rather be greeted by an ad when I'm actually in the app, not when I'm unlocking phone to do something else. Other than that, I really wish that it would have an overlay over the blocked app when I press the Overview Button (the square button). The blocked app can still be seen when switching to another app. There is a lot to like about the app, I really like the Random Keyboard. I have a friend that has unlocked phones by looking at the fingerprints on the screen. I also like that it can lock down system apps without the need of the phone to be rooted. And I can lock down the guest profile too! Unfortunately, because it doesn't work 100% time, and that there's no overlay when switching between apps, and the full screen ads after unlocking my phone, I have no desire to keep this app and will try to find an alternative.
This app would be good if it didn't cause a major issue: causes recent windows/apps to automatically pop up without clicking on them. I think this issue is tied to the ad pop ups on the free version, which is what I had. I don't mind pop up ads in lieu of paying, but when it causes my recently used apps to constantly pop up on their own then that's when I have a problem! I know for sure this is AppLock related because after I removed it I had no issues. I then reinstalled it and the problem came back. I then removed it for good and no problems.
This app was my favorite. But it has problems and the biggest ones are. if you unlock and use your email and then close that window and then click on the opened apps botton you'll see your email window and can actually read it. Second problem is the ads are too much to a point where I really thought I had a problem with my phone and did a factory reset only to find out that it was AppLock the one responsible for all these ads popping. Looking for an alternative. Too bad it was a nice app.
It works just beautifully for a few days and then simply stops working. Had to find my auto-start and initially give it permission to get it to work. Now it doesn't even appear in the auto-start list, although it looks to have that permission. I can't be reinstalling it every week. When it does work, it's a great app with fabulous features. Edit: Instructed to "Then enable Advanced Protection and Power saving mode." Advanced Protection is another app that gets installed. I simply decided to go with another app lock I've had success with in the past.
Ads everywhere while using your phone. Super annoying. I understand that the app cant be developed and maintained for free. But I shouldnt be seeing ads literally after closing every single app. It's stupid. There are other ways to monetize and show ads while having a free option. I uninstalled the app and feel much better. Shame as this is a great app.
Great app, I loved everything, the interface and graphics are amazing, but it kept activating the "unlock all" option on its own, and all my apps were again open and vulnerable, that's exactly what I don't want, so I had to uninstall. It also has ads, I'll pay no problem to get rid of them, but they ask for a monthly or yearly fee and that doesn't work for me.
Ugh... I'm still in search of an actual, GOOD app locker. This one is just ANNOYING. It keeps relocking every single time I attempt to edit an SMS or FB post, or if I happen to use a word that is SIMILAR to a friend's or contact's name. For instance, if i use the adjective "brown", but also have contacts with the surname "Brown", the app relocks right in the middle of preparing a post.
EDIT: Problem fixed. Best app of its kind. Love it and recommend it. Hi! Just using the one star review to get your attention, I have a problem and will switch to 5 stars when it is fixed. I just installed the app, I had used it before on other phones and always loved it. After the initial setup, I could not add any files to the vault, and I received an error message saying my SD card is full. I checked it, of course, and both my SD card and my internal storage have over 500 MB free. I need this fixed ASAP, or else I'll have to find another app and I'd hate that. Any ideas?
My only problem with this app is that it often fails to lock apps that it should lock after the cell phone loses battery power and turns off. I have to turn on this app in "Protected Apps" and tinker with a few settings in the app after the battery loses power and I turn the cell phone on after charging it. It does take maybe a few seconds to appear in front of locked apps. Smart users can bypass it. Other than that it's quite good. It takes pictures of "intruders" that tries to open locked app.
I mean, it works. It does what is supposed to do, but several times I have come very close to deleting it due to the sheer number of ads... and POP UP ADS at that! I'll leave an app that it's not even connected to and an ad will pop up On. My. Home. Screen! Don't get me wrong, I understand that this is a free app and that the makers should be able to put in a few adds for compensation, but this is beyond obnoxious. If I find another locking ap with fewer ads, this one is getting dropped QUICKLY.
I've been using this app for almost a year and when I first got it I was extremely happy with it. The last few months it's been displaying adds at 5x the rate and every time I unlock my phone it displays an ad that I have to manually close. It's really annoying me since I unlock my phone a lot throughout the day, to the point where I'm uninstalling it and looking for something else. You can also access apps for 1-2 sec if you constantly minimize and maximize the app with the phone unlocked.
I've been using the app for a few days and I've noticed on at least three or more occassions that when the Applock is on I'm able to open all of the apps that are supposed to be locked!!!!!!!!!!!!! Upon looking at the settings I find that all of the apps I ticked have been unticked!!!!!!!!! I then have ti reset about 70 or 80 apps. That can be done by restoring a saved profile. I never know when the app fails because my phone always states Applock is running, albeit without locking any apps!
I've used several app-locking apps in the past. To me, this is now the best. It is much improved from the first time I tried it a few years ago. But it could still be more improved: 1. highlight the current active profile on the profile select screen; 2. have a "button" to bring up the profile select screen manually; have a "Lock All" selection on the profile select screen in addition to the "Unlock All" selection. Yet, overall, it's a great app.
I have been using Applock for a very long period. Recently, I have been getting random pop ups and ads on phone (Samsung S9) and was really getting frustrated about it. In attempt to find the culprit app, I started deleting few apps on my phone. You can't imagine the despair and furious i was when I came to realise that Applock is the culprit app that have been pushing ads on to my phone randomly. Will be reporting this to play store.
Never had issues with the older version. I had to uninstall this latest version because some apps proved more difficult to open with the pattern lock. The app doesn't hide completely as it shows it can easily be assessed through the share button in the photos app. What's the essence of hiding some photos and allowing some when a smart person can assess the both? I preferred to open the app by typing numbers and characters on my dailpad #12... but the new *#*#1 isn't functional.
Unbelievable!! I was loving this app but it started causing pop up ads on my phone!! The pop up ads showed up every 5 minutes no matter what i was doing. Even if i was just on the homescreen!! I had to use an antivirus app to identify this app as the culprit. It is a wonderful idea for an app and it worked well but i will be uninstalling it immediately.
I like the features and function of the app, but the video/animation in ads are stuff I don't want my eyes to see or my mind to absorb. To say it kindly, it is very low class. I had seen complaints here in reviews about the ads, but thought one could pay for the app to get rid of what looks like smut to me. I see no way to upgrade to premium, which I would most like to do - if it gets rid of all ads - on the Google Play website.
Response back to developers: I always had power save on. It has nothing to do with the issue. System UI is screwed up now. It won't let me manually wipe apps unless I turn System UI off. it was never this way until recently. Before, I could press left key and see all my opened apps. yet it would still lock the screen for my privacy. Now I have to choose between exposing privacy on that screen, or not being able to bring that app screen up. Please return it back to the way it was before.
It's way too easy to circumnavigate when using on Galaxy s9+. When attempting to open "locked" apps, it will actually show the app for a split-second --- enough time to quickly select something in the app (like for example with youtube: if you select a video in that split-second window of time when trying to open the app, it will actually open that video which you can then access from the recent apps screen ... or with the "locked" settings app: quickly selecting "Device Maintenance" will literally load it without needing the recent apps screen AT ALL, and from there you can proceed to uninstall the app from storage settings). There are a few other examples of apps that I managed to access when "locked" that I could give but I don't want to write a whole essay here... So basically, the only way this app can be useful is if you use the "advanced" security option to prevent uninstall of AppLock, but this requires you giving it ADMINISTRATOR PRIVILEGES which is very dangerous when this app is NOT OPEN SOURCE and so you cannot know what it might do with that access...
Had a good experience with the app until recently. After the last update on Galaxy S7 (recent update of Android 8.0) I experienced my phone crashing/overheating when unlocking apps, and then getting stuck in a boot loop. I solved the problem by uninstalling the app and everything has been great since then. I almost bought a new phone as I thought mine was cooked! Thank god I figured out it was just this app.
Pretty Good, much better than when I used it for the first time. Only problem I can find is when using WhatsApp, seems to lock the screen for few seconds before it opens again when moving between different chats. Same for other apps, like while writing this review, if I am editing the sentence by tapping at somewhere to edit seems to be locking automatically. Kindly check it out. Haven't checked the other apps yet.
the app is good and usable. there's however a teething problem with the app--it doesn't want to quit. once you are done, when you try to quit the app, the app keeps trying to pop up again and again, wants you to login and get in. I've to finally force stop the app, else it won't let me do anything else since it keeps popping up. using Nokia 7 plus with Android pie.
I was looking for an app to secure my child's mobile data enabled tablet (Samsung Tab A). As an "App Lock" application, this works. I was able to secure various apps so that my child could not access them, however, the big issue I needed, this app did not do. I wanted to lock access to be able to turn mobile data on and off. I could lock settings, I was able to lock just about anything else, but I could not lock the pull down menu from the top that gave access to be able to turn WiFi, Data, Notifications, Airplane mode, etc off. And from that menu, the mobile data could still be turned on and off. Looking at the website of the developer and the details of this app, it touts many features, but I have yet to find a manual, walk through, tutorial, or any documentation on how to use it. The app provides some insight, but is not clear. Bottom line, it earned 2 stars because I could not control the mobile data switch. The rest of the app's features is what earned it from 1 to 2 stars.
I was using AppLock by Hyper Speed, but at times the lock feature wouldn't kick in right away. There were delays from 10 seconds to 10 minutes. That's why i decided to looked for another app locker. This one was highly rated so I decided to try it out. So far it seems great. A lot of features and the locking feature appears to be pretty much instant. I guess I'll update my review later if I start to see some issues.
Warning! Do NOT install this app, it will bombard you with sudden full screen popups, even when app is not running. I loved this app and it worked perfectly locking apps, but I started getting a whole bunch of full screen ads in my tablet which is a right pain to get rid of. I installed poup ad detector to try and find out where these sudden full screen ads were coming from and it has identified app lock as the culprit. Totally lame reply from dev. I now use Norton app lock, works brilliantly.
It does what it says it does, but with the recent update, it is serving full screen pop up ads when the app is not open/in focus. Fairly sure this is against Google policy. Uninstalling for now. Update - the ads pop up even when the profile in use had everything unlocked. I hadn't opened or used applock for weeks (I only lock when travelling), and yes 100% popping up on the screen.
Used to be okay (had it for over a year) and now includes ads (because they added themes which I personally don't need). I would have paid premium if it was a one off but it's a yearly subscription. The app itself does the job but not perfect. It's not always consistent (e.g. found ways to bypass the lock with the volume), and it doesn't hide the content of an app when scrolling through opened apps (which is a feature really important to me) EDIT: my phone is Xiaomi but the Android One version
