This app may need some stream lining, but if you can get over that, this ASL app is one of the best for learning. -Largely because it motivates you by being a game, and challenging you with fun quizzes, giving rewards, giving you improvement scores, giving badges. I have gone through about 7 different apps, and most were only helpful more as a dictionary, not actual learning.
I really appreciate this app and It's free and I am using it daily, so I want to give it a good eating. but I haven't figured out how it all works or it needs a lot of work, maybe both. It seems like, at least starting out, the only thing with content is the quizzes. Also, I would love to have written directions under each of the drawings or photos. There are descriptions with some and they are helpful. Are there lessons? Is there a "chat room"? I'm confused, they are just empty.
This is the best ASL app I have found. It does have a some small issues though. The layout on the main screen is super confusing. Also, the tests are not set up in catagories. I would like to learn about just greetings, or maybe the alphabet, or family.
I downloaded this App to help me learn sign so I could teach it to my children. I enjoy taking the daily quizzes, but don't use the full options of the App. I don't understand the lesson portion. If you look at the flash cards the quizzes can get more challenging, though flash cards can be difficult to see the picture clearly and not all flash cards have images, but has editing options I have not figured out. After using the quizzes for a while I found there was limited signs repeated. More signs could be quizzed through the flash card portion. I did not find this App helpful if I wanted to look up a sign for a word. Bob/ Rob is amazing at teaching sign, and I thoroughly enjoy his youtube videos teaching sign. His pictures are clear to understand with facial expressions as well.
Very good app. I love the quizzes. My only complaint is that I wish there were videos instead of static pictures. It takes close examination to figure out the direction of movement whereas a video would show that more easily.
overall, a nice app. flashcards allow you to learn at your own pace and the various quiz formats allow you to test your knowledge. some of the images are difficult to identify. for a free app, it checks most of the boxes for a beginner.
This is such an amazing app! I downloaded it 20 minutes ago and have already taken 6 of the quizzes. It can be a little tricky determining the motion of some of the pictures but otherwise great for learning
I'm just getting started with American Sign Language and stumbled on this app. So far I've only done the quizzes though I haven't learned much from this particular teacher. I find what I have learned elsewhere applies to what I've seen here, and am having fun learning new signs through the quizzes while reinforcing what I've accumulated to date. Many thanks from Kristina at Inventor Shortcuts
Good, free app! Good quizzes to keep me sharp when I don't sign everyday. Only downfallis that it's sometime hard to tell what the pictures are supposed to be. Video would be better but for a free app, it's good.
Still pictures don't always help with learning sign language, and the quizzes have been incorrect more than once. The last time it was saying the correct answer was "pancake" but the still image was of a man signing for banana .....
great quizzes. some pictures are too small too see hand positions. you can tell some are taken from workbooks and can see illustration of awnser next to illustration of sign. there are no hints and no way to add any and will not let me"connect to server". seems like i cannot access half of program, am i missing a payable version?
This app is absolutely fantastic it shows every sign there is I haven't found one sign that I sign that they don't have it's very convenient for it if you're at the store or just trying to teach someone I love it you should get it.
Difficult to use - many images are as small as my thumbnail, and the larger pictures are blurry. I uninstalled it the same day.
Love the instructor and very easy to navigate. Even when I am not doing well in the quizzes I know I am learning and enjoying the journey. Deaf community is awesome. Ty.
Very confusing. Doesn't give any directions to navigate the app. No lessons show up when I push the "lesson" button.
Fun but there was one incorrect answer. The answer should have been"leave" and App said it was"garage". Also ads cover the answers and block the ability to select.
Love the quiz, flashcards, category studying.... however Extremely in Need for Updating..... showing errors of internet connection, daily quiz messing up, and giving wrong signs to some of the words.
Good visuals. A little disorganized in terms of content but overall a useful tool to brush up on ASL.
The advertising for this app is false. It does not help with teaching you asl, its for reviewing what you have learned already. False advertising is incredibly lazy and disgusting. Fix that
You can really learn enough really fast and be able to communicate using ASL up to 95% in a couple weeks time. Taking these classes and Doing Daily Speed Testing(DDST) will increase your ASL ability up to 100% effectiveness. I Love This App(ILTA)
Photos are terrible. The sounds effects are also bad. Wouldn't use again, uninstalled after 10 minutes. Dont waste your time
The quizzes are great, but the main screen is confusing and it is hard to know where to find lessons.
I.just installed it. I'm learning ASL, it seems to help . I trust it to help me improve since I've seen his videos and I think.he's very good at teaching. Thanks!
Very happy with this app! It really helps me when I'm walking from one meeting to another. Or from my work to my car. The quizzing aspect has been really helping me learn ASL
Couldn't figure out how to learn. There's the daily quiz, which makes you guess not learn. Disappointing.
There is nothing in it. You open up flash cards quizes and it says add more. But thrn there is nothing to add and nothing to study. So waste of time
This app is not usable. There are no instructions on how to use it. There are no lessons, only quizzes. You can't quiz on something you don't know. There are no memory cards. Deleted
All it needs to say is Dr Bill Cigars, and I knew it would be a quality learning experience. His YouTube videos are great, with a cheerful personality that makes learning enjoyable😊
Giving this a 3/5 because when taking quizes there should be videos or arrows to show which way fingers are going..example paper and nice are similar...need more than photos
I am learning a lot, but it's not intuitive (at least not for my mind set) where to go for lessons. I've been learning by taking quizzes and finding the right answer when I get it wrong. I would prefer if there was a link that just said classes or begin learning or something straight forward like that. Either way, I'm getting encouraged that as my hearing goes bit by bit, I'm learning to communicate through sign bit by bit.
