Excellent quality videos, the loop and slow motion replay tools are extremely useful. Could use a bit of an update to stay current, things like 'Covid', 'pandemic', 'climate', or 'global' for example. Overall though a pretty good tool for learning.
This app is exceptional for sign language. We have been using it for several years to help add vocabulary for our Autistic son. It is very user friendly and intuitive. I really like the videos and the ability to slow to whatever speed works for you. Customer support is also awesome if you have any additional needs or questions they are answered quickly. Thank you so much for this app!
Great quality videos, with tons of words to choose from. Easy to search for specific words. Some times I tap on play all and just watch one sign after another. There is even a quiz section. I usually cover the signers face because I don't want to be able to read her lips. Nice feature to download videos for offline use. I do however wish there was a way to move videos to external sd card. Make sure you look up the sign for pug!
I am new beginner. Love the app But have to look up every single word. So when you hit the X to back out a word you still have to hit that box again for the keyboard to pop up. The angle of which is hands show is so straightforward that I have to replay slow motion alot to see what her side of her hands are doing. If camera angle was from higher I think that would help a bunch. Would be 5 stars if not for those 2 things.
It's great having an extensive, clear dictionary like this at my fingertips. I consult it all the time. One thing I struggle with is differentiating signs that have similar motions, like SAY and TRUE or WHEN and ABOUT (those are simple ones but it happens to me with a lot of new signs). I'd love it if you added a feature to flip back and forth between two signs so the user can directly compare them!
It's not allowing me to see some videos, it says I need an internet connection, which I have. Other videos it let's me see and I've not downloaded any. Another asl dictionary app works fine no internet problems. Needs a fix please. I purchased this. I Uninstalled, rebooted my phone, reinstalled, cleared the cache, changed internet connection and it still does the same thing. This app hasn't been updated for close to a year with the new android updates maybe the app needs an update.
Purchase first with iPhone, then again with Android when switched phones. I asked and was told I had to purchase again. Unfortunately, all the better updates are on the iPhone none on Android . No option to cover mouth during quize, can't rearrange favorites in order and freezes often. I also read there are improved test too. Five star on iPhone not on Android. I wish I didn't know what I was missing. I paid twice thinking the app was the same. Disappointing!
I am just getting started with ASL. I have two suggestions. 1) As a dictionary it seems to be good, however it badly needs a "Commonly used phrases" section (like Good Morning, I am hungry, How are you, What is your name etc.). Without that, we are just learning words without context and that can make it tough to learn. 2) Option to create multiple custom lists. The 'favorite' list option is there, but it's limited. If I can create custom lists like countries, animals, birds etc it would helpful
The Best ASL Dictionary App here! I'm looking forward to having more words/signs added in the future. Software Studios, do you have plans on making a kid version of this with large colorful illustrations just so kids who are hard of hearing can easily know what the sign is for? I bought this app so I could teach my niece but It'd be better if she could access it just as easily - with the help of real and/or cartoon images. Having a flashcard feature would be neat and I'd gladly buy it!
Never seen some of these words. I like the quiz portion but more if it would quiz me on my favs that I actually picked. would be even better if she didnt say anything during the videos. I have to cover her face and concentrate on the signs. other than that this is a pretty great app.
can you make a setting where I can write notes that help me remember each one. something that shows up like a caption banner. there are a lot of signs that I have a "and that's how I'll remember this one" thought, but there's more I'd like to write down on some words. that way when I'm drilling my favorite word vocabulary, I have notes that show up without giving me the answer
From what I've seen and been able to do on my phone, it looks like it will be a very useful app. I would rate it a 5, but it won't completely work on my tablet (if I tell it I'm really on a phone, all but the quiz works. If I tell it I'm on a tablet, it dies.)
Love it! ...even though "lizard" is missing (my toddler asked for that word of all things). Well you can't have everything — you can't even have "lizard" in your ASL app. Anyhow: Well worth the price! I just wish the app had an option to loop through a practice list!...and the word "lizard."
My hearing has always been a little off. My hearing is at about 60%-80% of what it should be. I have to watch people's mouths along with listening in order to understand what they are saying. About 90% of the time, if I can't see your mouth, I can't understand you. I bought this app at a moment my hearing was at about 30%-50%. I am greatly appreciating the help this app is giving with my lip reading skills. I may need them one day. It will be good to be fluent in lip reading along with the ASL.
I love the app and find it extremely useful however I feel it can be improved by adding a category for the states and a how to say category. Simple things like how are you. what's your name things of that nature. Overall I am impressed with the app and how it functions...
I highly recommend this app! I am an interpreting student and I use this app everyday! I have quite a few I utilize, signing savvy, asldeafined, the asl app (Deaf model from Americas next top model) and sign school. this app is very straightforward and I have not experienced any technical issues. I have the ability to use offline as well which is so helpful. it also has the feature of playing all the signs from A-Z and I use this feature daily!
Very fluid operation, accurate signs. I have an intermediate ASL fluency, and the signs are accurate to the modern signs I've learned so far. Super easy and smooth app! A+++!
this app is pretty good, but is there any way you guys could add a way to make it play through a randomly sorted list of all of the words? Or to be able to mark words as resolved/learned so they don't show up in the random list? Or to have a word of the day?
Good day. I wasn’t born deaf, I lost my hearing in childhood accident and had to learn ASL. For some reason a lot of these signs need to be prioritize or updated. The graphics great, but some signs aren't used today as primary sign, or first choice of sign in deaf culture.
I really enjoy it more than handspeak. I know there are different takes on asl signs, but I think this is more accurate. However I ended up using PSE (pidgen signed english) rather asl which are two different signing abilities. Could you try putting in ASL sentence structure? I'm sure if you make an app based around asl sentence structure too maybe it will help others better understand asl rather pse
It is extremely useful and I have increased my sign language knowledge in just a few short months by taking the quizzes and utilizing the practice exercises.
Phenomenal. I'm learning ASL and this is hugely helpful. Great examples, the quiz works super well. This is what I've been looking for.
I love it. After downloading the videos i feel like I have full access! I am learning ASL at school and this app is nice for all the little words that cant be covered in class.
Very well done! Proffessional quality, easy to use, well worth the price. Now, please make an ASL phrase dictionary for us hearing people who are grammatically impaired. : )
Meh, the quizzes are nice but my main issue is basic clothing to help describe people are not on here Which is one of the first things in ASL 1. And they signed "pants" instead of "jeans" like they have listed.... It is fairly helpful for studying in general though
Very good app but not on the family plan though. My monthly sub pocket sign though. I found it on the family but can't get it to work yet for my mom please help
I am learning ASL and LOVE the quiz feature to learn new words, review and practice!!! Thank you!!!
great! thanks for getting all these words together! you definetly are doing the due diligence to break comunication barriers! blessings
I like this ASL app.. It is helpful. But my concern is, after I download all videos for offline, not all words are downloaded. Please help me how to fix. Thanks
This app is one of the best I've found for asl learning individual words. Uses a real person signing which is so helpful. One tiny thing I'd like to point out is the categories lists miss out one or two words like under Colour there is no pink in the list even though its in the dictionary. I'd definitely recommend this app.
