Shame it has been abandoned, hope the developer is ok. Was a worthwhile purchase at one point. Then the syncing broke and I'm just glad that I noticed before finding out the hard way that new codes hadn't been synced to my backup phone. Export also broken, so it's just good that there are ways to manually retrieve the data or import into other authenticator apps.
Keeps Crashing ... :-( After a recent build update of my G10+, the app just crashes when trying to open it. Sent email to support ... auto-responder kicked back a standard "I'm probably working on the bug already" message. The message ended with "Keep being excellent." As previous reviews mentioned, it appears that this app is no longer under active development.
The illusion of security. This app does a better job than any I have tried of letting you organize the authenticator tokens, but I find the security in the application atrocious. The lock screen is a great example. You can still see your codes under it! The last time I used a numeric password it told you how many digits it was?! And associating with Google info. Come on!
I rarely write online reviews, but I feel this one is necessary. Mufri appears to be unreachable through Support -- here, maybe? When I discovered Authenticator Plus, I was excited. It appeared to have all the features of Auth, which I was using (one of the most important features being backup and sync), but some nice additional capabilities as well. V3.8.8 apparently can't backup to Google any more. Removing 2 stars. Needs an update! V3.8.8 reviewed. Started to use this after a phone died and I lost my Google Authenticator data. Needed a solution that had backup. Nice interface. Let's you create groups/tags and arrange your codes. Input is either manual or snapping the QR code. I think there is a cosmetic bug in grouping that I hit but can't recall. Will assign an image to your code for some of the major organizations. There is no way to add pictures if your organization isn't one of the preconfigured - those earn a green Android robot. When you have a list of codes, there is a countdown clock on the right. If codes have non-standard durations, this sort of makes sense. Otherwise, they are all synced and moving at the same time. The way the numbers scroll at the interval change is pretty neat to watch.
Best Authenticator app you can get. After having my phone die and become unusable (manufacturer defect, looking at you LG) I lost access to several accounts, and had to go through a long drawn out recovery process for some of them. With Authenticator Plus, it automatically backs up it's database of my TOTP accounts to a cloud provider of my choice. No problems since. Gives me piece of mind.
In principle a great App. The missing points are because there is no obvious way to trigger a synchronization manually. I added a new account to one device. After 3 days it didnt' show up on the other device (although the first device claimed to have synchronized it immediately after the change) The way I triggered the synchronization on the other device was by disconnecting Dropbox on that device and reconnecting.
So far so good, simple and easy to setup accounts. Could do with more or customisation images. This is the only reason for 4 stars. I have to add to this review 1 year on. This app has not sync for over 6 months and now i receive errors saying the Google play services are missing, contact developer? Not good.
Sure it's abandoned, but still works consistently with little if any alternatives for Wear OS. Recent Google Drive sync issues on newer versions of Android can be easily remedied with Dropbox instead. If you don't remember your master password, then it'd be an unavoidable issue sooner or later with yourself to blame.
I have used this app for years and loved it as it was the first to have android Wear support! Unfortunately, have to rate 4 stars not 5 as I can no longer sync to Google drive, even after a reinstall from the play store. I get the error: "Authenticator requires one or more Google play services that are not currently available" been like it for weeks :(
This app used to be great. Unfortunately it's been abandoned. Do not buy it anymore! I had 16 accounts saved in this app. Luckily Aegis was updated to support importing from Authplus. However you need to have access to Android 10 to be able to export to the zip format, then import to Aegis. Fortunately I have many Android devices to do this and I have moved on from this app. Saved me a lot of headache and time.
Sadly this brilliant app hasn't received any updates for 2 years. Synchronization, its most useful feature, no longer works, complaining about needing Google Play Services that are currently unavailable. Just bought a new phone, and really need this feature right now 🤬. Best look for alternatives like andOTP or Aegis. The latter can import from Authenticator Plus, whereas the former supports Ripple for the privacy focused user. And, unlike this app, both are FOSS, gratis, and also on F-Droid 👍
Great app before it was abandoned. I have tried to contact the developer on multiple occasions through different channels with no luck. I am currently using authenticator pro for the last few months and haven't had any issues yet.
App is no longer supported. It doesn't work on newest Android and the backup and export functionality failed in the last major android update. This has led to me not being able even remove and transfer the codes to a new app.
For many years, this was my go-to Authenticator app. Unfortunately, it hasn't been updated in a while, and I can no longer recommend it. Nominally, it still works, but many of the features, like biometric authentication, are now buggy, and it has problems crashing on my Pixel 6. One area where Authenticator Plus was awesome is the Wear OS support. If you are looking for a similar app with Wear OS support, I'd recommend Authenticator Pro. If you are a current user, unfortunately, the export features stopped working after Android 10, so you have to manually extract the data from the authplus.db file to migrate to a new program. If you search for "extract authplus.db", you can get instructions on how to do this, and someone even created a containerized solution to convert the authplus.db to an andOTP file.
Excellent well thought out application. I notice the Dropbox sync no longer works though, which is a shame. Is this application being actively maintained I wonder?
What a shame. Almost 3 years without updates and there's still a spot to be taken for a decent authenticator app. It used to reign over all of them as well. Now we're left with this husk of an app and the marketplace full is half-assed attempts. Come back. Save us!
Abandoned. Don't buy if you didn't have it already. Shame, because it worked fine for years. It will still generate codes just fine, but sync is broken on newer versions of android. Also, the barcode scanner doesn't seem to pick up qr codes made by some services these days.
If you can't sync with Google Drive (it crashes the app), here's how you fix it: Start the app without syncing anything (new user, manual backup and restore options), then go to settings -> cloud and sync with Google drive there. Restoring via the settings works fine, it's just the start wizard that's broken.
I've tried several. What I was looking for. 1. Works both on Android and iOS. 2. Back up feature (Preferably to NextCloud hopefully that feature will come soon) 3. Categories (which is hard to find) This app has all this us even hardware encryption and works on smart watches (how awesome is that). The developer did an awesome job. Well worth the money for the pro features. Thank you for such a great, secure app!!!
This was a great app while it was supported, but the developer has abandoned it and google has chnaged some rules that has left the cloud sync option useless. THe backup and restore options are also hobbled somehow. I managed to get my keys out, and imported to a new app (andOTP) and am happy again.
Was one of a kind app, way ahead of the competition! Unfortunately it's been abandoned for years and some functionality is broken (sync is not working, export does not work on new Android versions, etc).
Bought the app, installed, tried to setup Google backup, got an error that it required unavailable Google play services. Tried to find answers online, couldn't, tried to sign up for support on the website, it said I did, but it never sent me a password and on trying to reset to get one it said I wasn't authorized to use the site. Can't get support, can't use backup, no help on the support site. Clearly a broken app and support system. At least I was able to get a refund.
The ability to create my own backups of codes and sync between devices is great and works exactly as advertised. Very happy with this app and highly recommend for someone looking for a little more than the basic functionality found in other free apps.
This is a great 2FA authenticator app, the encrypted backup is seamless and makes recovering or changing phones FAR easier especially when you use it for many accounts like I do. Edit: This app seems to have been abandoned and key features no longer work, changing from 5 to 1 stars.
Do not buy this. It was a good app, but it's been abandoned and backup/export/cloud sync options no longer run properly on newer versions of android. You will lose your data. Shame because it's the only authenticator that worked on WearOS.
This app unable to let me sync using Google Drive, it says my device does not have Google Play Services (I did have that installed) and request me to contact developer. The disappointment comes from the issue found at landing page and it defeats the purpose of this app if it cannot allow me to backup my code.
Been using it for years and working well. However since early this year, the app is unable to sync with Google drive. Even though the app and phone are all updated to latest version.
Google Drive sync doesn't work. I've been using this for a few years and the cloud sync functionality stopped working somewhere in 2019 or 2020. You can still export the SQLite database and manually save it elsewhere but the user experience isn't great. Overall though having a backup of all your secrets brings a lot of peace of mind. To the dev: thank you for taking the time to build this!!!
