I like the layout and playability. However... There are some serious issues with dice rolls. In replies to other reviews, you have mentioned you have no control over this. Well, if you don't, there are glitches! I've taken samples of when certain dice rolls come up (based on particular scenarios),and the occurrences of particular dice rolls are so extraordinarily high in some cases (ever since I've started using this app), that something is evidently wrong. EXTRAORDINARILY high!

I'm not having any issues with ad bug's or game being unfair when playing with the computer, when I can play level 3 - 15 game's in a row and will lose 3 game's at the most, I probably need to bump up the challenge to level 4. I also have always played doubles with no issues. My only complaint is it's getting boring I am unable to play with online players, it probably won't be boring then. I like backgammon it keeps your mind thinking and I don't have to play with WiFi.

Most playable interface I've seen. Still pretty easy to beat though, even on the new level 7. Would do much better in a match if it wasn't so weak bearing off. Even just moving out of the opponent's home when all passed would save losing triple points on a round. Perhaps switching out the AI and using a rules based engine would greatly improve bearing off. I would be happy to help you develop the bear off rules and test them if you like. Let me know in a reply to this.

The game is fun and although I don't mind a good challenge, I find it odd how once you accept the doubles challenge the dice coincidentally roll in the favor of the system. No matter how many times the developer claims the system is fair, and the rolls are random, too many people have found the glitch in the matrix. Regardless, it still does what it's intended to do...

I loved this app for so long. But now it has a serious ad bug that makes it unplayable and I am about to uninstall it. I can't even get through one game without it sliding right into Google Play, without my permission, trying to download completely unwanted apps. It's totally ridiculous. It's a shame, because it was a great game. None of my other apps/games are doing this, so it's not a problem on my end. It does it multiple times in one game now.

Discovering the same issues other reviews have mentioned. The "random" CPU moves are based on probabilities that are rare in reality. Yes yes yes....the game follows the rules. But I'm dumbfounded by having sit out 5 turns (or more!) to watch CPU win the round. It's also unnerving to recline a CPU double request and instantly lose the round. This is also not based in reality. Probably game glitches all around but I'm not sticking around for any "fixes". There are far better versions available.

I've tried, I really have. I know the devs claim the dice rolls are completely random and cite their independent study or whatever. But for level 6 and above, the CPU is *unbelievably* lucky consistently. Getting out of holes takes me 10 turns, while the exact same situation takes 1 or 2 turns for the CPU. Not only do they get out, but they get the perfect doubles to hit my pieces. Nearly every single round some very questionable luck is granted to the AI. I don't think I'm schizophrenic.

Good until AI tech issues outweighed the fun, esp. in higher difficulty levels If the AI asks to play a double 3 plays into the game; if you refuse the AI proclaims that it won the game. 2. Glitches - a). highlights the wrong number of plays. It's freaky because it happens right when I am about to take technical advantage over the game. b). AI game rules are different than mine. Eg. Home section: I can only move as per dice into the winning tray, but the AI can choose any player it wishes.

I havent seen the "too many AI doubles" issue that others report, or any bear-off issues that would make me question the fairness. The AI didn't improve noticeably with levels 6 & 7: it still makes poor plays like making its 2-point. It will accept almost any double even when it's obvious it shouldn't. Early in the game it is risk-averse & will always move to a "made" point rather than leave singles in its outer board for future use. Ads don't seem unreasonable.

It's a gloryous game realisation of a historycal old wonderfull game . Congratulation to AI. However I would like to make a suggestion for the dice algorithm on level 7 : it not good to give for anyone the sequence 6/6, 4/4, 5/5 and again 6/6. It's not good, neither for the player, neither for the AI. Please review the dice algorithm on level 7 to make it more equilibrate. After the latest update,the level 7became absurd because no player in real life gets all the best dice while the opponent.

Plays a good game even at advanced level, easy to use and pleasant to look at. Not much more you could ask of it. Edit. I bought the paid version but all I get is a message saying this is the free version bit you have the paid version installed Please open the paid version to play without ads. But there's no way to open the paid version. Edit. Eventually, after much digging, found you have to search for Backgammon Pro in PlayStore and Enable it. Would be helpful if there were instructions.

Way too many ads too often. Each time you finish a game the ads go on forever! Update: There seems to be fewer ads now and the x appears consistently. Much appreciated that they do not interrupt the game, as you mentioned. I've given it 5 stars now. 😊

I don't care how random you say this is the cpu gets what it needs EVERY time. I can have every lane covered save for one and the computer gets out every single time. I'm never that lucky. I agree with others! Sorry, after 6 rolls of doubles, it is not random. Going to find another backgammon game!

At the highest difficulty the CPU doesn't make the best plays.. it just rolls what it needs in order to win. Alternatively, you roll what you don't need. Been playing backgammon for a long time to know the probabilities.

The computer opponent seems to know what the dice will be, before offering a double, as it tends to roll exactly what it needs. Thanks again for the developer response, but there's probability and I tend to guess the next dice roll exactly that is next and useful for the Al. Despite that, I have enjoyed and playing this backgammon game for years.

This program cheated. It's more subtle than pervious versions, but it still cheats. You can outplay the program, but you cannot out roll it with timely dice. It comes up with more "miracles" in a 15 game match on level 7 than Jesus Christ came up with in the whole New Testament. The programer "over explains" how they couldn't possibly cheat (exactly the same way as a used cars salesman explains how "It was only driven to church on Sunday." This program CHEATS, period.

Have to update my review, even though the new AI is good, it does get favorable rolls too often. I started playing with an external dice and the CPU's win percentage dropped dramatically. The recent update really helped AI. Level 7 cpu actually plays like a real person. The old level 5 AI played too defensively and had a cautious approach. The new one is more of risk taker.

This is to agree with Amada Madden. I thought it was just my tablet. I try to open the app and it will close on me. Sometimes the app will open as far as single player, two etc. page and close. I restart and/or power off and power on. This happens all the time. I have been playing this game for years without a problem. These incidents started happening 2022 January which is very annoying. This is why 3 Stars only.

you say the dice roll is fair. played 26 games on lvl3. app got 25%more doubles, it won more 1st moves and out rolled me almost every game. also can a first roll be an 11 and the computer says it beat you but then does not take 2 moves of 6. it takes a move of 5 and a move of 6. if it rolled 12 then the computer should have had 4 moves of 6. it would have been doubles. if it was a tie,then it should have been a re roll not fun

Be nice if computer wouldn't be so lucky of getting doubles all the time when u get close to winning or computer gets so much luck that it gets the numbers it needs when u cant..don't see how the computer can get so many doubles in a game when it starts loosing and I didn't even hit one double .I believe it is made to get lucky so people can't beat it

I am no pro, but have played over 2000 games on this app. Ya sure I accept that it is all random with the dice roll. Lately it seems the machine does win most of the first rolls. That's okay, it is a slight advantage, but when the it's first 3 or 4 rolls are mostly doubles and don't have to leave any men open, you feel beat. You can clearly be in advantage, but then computer dice rolls actually match the only options available. Bearing off doubles quickly kill any advantage.

Definitely cheats. Compare results with the option to use real dice with CPU rolls. Not even close to the same result. CPU gets more doubles, gets exact rolls needed. Real dice? It loses MUCH more frequently.

Update: Auto Bear Off needs work. I had pieces in 456 spaces and the AI decided to use a 6 1 roll to move from 6 to 5, then 5 to home, wasting a move. In another game I had pieces on 236. AI decided to use a 4 5 roll to move the 6 to 2 and the 3 to home. These are obviously bad moves that can cost the game if it's a close race to home. I had to delete previous review because not enough characters.

Contrary to popular opinion I find the computer seems to play very fairly. Doubles seem to be shared and when I play stupid moves I lose. I have screenshot of all no results so far and there are plenty of games where I have had MORE doubles than the computer. Otherwise I seem to fair quite well I see no raso not to download and play

This game has changed. The rolls and moves the computer gets at the end of the streets are totally favoring the computer. There is no randomness or fairness unless you have gotten so far ahead the program concedes and allows you to get ridiculous shakes to justify the statistics you can rack up. All I am asking for is a fair game from the beginning to the end. If you are the developers don't try to say your office engine reviews the situations and plays fair. Your game played better before.

Oh dear poor little computer does not like to be loosing so throws itself 4 sixes 4 fives and 4 sixes all in a row me I get a 1 and a 3 twice and then a 2 and a 4 odds seem to be a bit ungames manlike but there you go. I have more patients than that Carpe Diem. Oh boy does this cheat, ONCE AGAIN I SAY "CARPE DIEM". I tend to find that this computer is a wimp at losses.
