This has nothing to do with the therapy I'm recieving: The app itself is SLOW. Even with good cell service! When I switch between tabs, send messages, or it logs me out/in, this app is so slow. Which makes me (a depressed person) avoid using it when I need it most. I would also request the ability to increase text size. I have poor eyesight and this would help.
Update: I spoke to customer service at BH. Was told this system works better on a computer than the app. So there's issues with the quality of the app. Orig post: This app needs improvement. My therapist is wonderful. However halfway through our session without fail, her video and audio become inconsistent. I can't hear her half the time. I know it's not my internet/phone because I can use Zoom without issues. And I just upgraded to a newer phone on 5g.
I like the Better Help service that's provided, and my therapist has been good, but the Android app is awful. I cannot make a video call despite having full cellular coverage, and the video test says it should work. The app also routinely slowe down and crashes when I am trying to message my therapist or schedule a session. I have only had success using the website on my laptop, which makes the service much less flexible than advertised. (I am using a Pixel 5)
The good first: - Access to many therapists - Easily change therapists. - Messaging app - Fairly affordable The bad: - No ability to costomise therapy schedule. Unacceptable since going longer between therapy sessions is key to learning how to be independent. Be better BetterHelp! - Can't filter for some conditions. Auto-matching service useless. - Not great for Australians. Good therapy times hard to find and group session times useless. No ability to filter for availability - App crashes a lot
🧠🗣️🧑🏻🥰 Great service. I recommend better help to anyone and everyone who can use additional support. easy to use, daily access to your therapist if and as needed. and I very much like the confidentiality of the surface. it's not cheap, but it's an investment into emotional intelligence and health. just as important as having a gym membership.
So for the past 15 minutes I've been trying to log onto better help app. On wifi, on data, I tried clearing the apps cache. I also tried going through the link in my email for my session I'm just worried I'll miss my session. I can't even get the website to load to look at the faq. If I can't get the app to load at an hour to hour and a half before I just don't want cancelation fee for something that only just started happening. I log on this morning to check my start time it was fine then
***UPDATE*** this was fixed and now works amazing! Very faulty I'm not sure why at first I thought it was my Internet but I can't seem to send a message on here without it either freezing or adding 200 blank paragraphs. Also can't do much else for it freezes.
Both the app and thr service are a complete waste of time and money. First, two different therapists didnt show up to the first seassion. I had to full out intake info multiple times. I finally got mayched with a therapist i liked, but when i tried to attend my second session, neither the app nor website were working. Don't bother.
I have tried therapy in the past by insurance refferal or referrals of friends. I neve found anyone that met my personal needs. I love that better help has the questionnaire and pairs you up with who has the experience in what you need. I must admit I was hesitant at first and it took 3 sessions before I could feel a change. MY therapist is amazing at listening and teaching me the tools I need. I look forward to my sessions and making progress.
The app. is a little clunky, push notifications for journal reminders don't always get pushed, out of my insurance network, just kind of just drops you onto the platform. Scheduling is easy, okay journal platform.
This app does not work on my phone (Galaxy Note 9). All I get is a blank white screen. The app seems to work OK on my Samsung tablet, but I can't access this when I'm not at home to reschedule sessions, or use the app in any way.
I tried to reach out to 3 therapists before I gave up. The advertised ability to have open access to therapists is misleading. You have relatively open access to group sessions and 'journaling' but it can be hard to set up times with therapists themselves. For the money, you would do better with a regular therapist or going through insurance. Being told it's all in my head or guilted for going over time is wildly unhelpful. Therapist demanding video chat when I said it made me uncomfortable
You've seen the ads, and wondered "really? Online therapy?" Well, yeah. Online therapy, just like online shopping, online television and online banking. I was matched with a therapist in about 18 hours. And the survey about why you're seeking therapy and the sort of therapist you prefer (i.e. military issues, trauma specialist, LGBTQIA+, etc.) is much more in-depth than other providers. BetterHelp, as a company, seems devoted to making sure I'm happy with my therapist and the service! I am!
This service makes mental health support much more easily accessible to many people. I would love to see a more budget friendly or sliding scale option so that even more people can receive such a great resource!
I rate 5 stars because of the platform. I love that the app is easy to use. I can message my therapist at any time. There are daily journal entries that allows me to engage in conversation as well. Betterhelp did a great job matching me with my therapist. He has helped me tremendously.
"its hard to find good help these days" is so accurate, I had almost lost hope that I would find an affordable professional to guide me through my own brain. BetterHelp provided all the resources I could ever ask for with the privacy and convenience of own cell phone.
Hi, actual human here! I came across this app via Steven He's video. I have subscribed for the therapy on 22 May, but now's 23 May and still I have not matched up with any therapist. This is really disappointing, so I decided to cancel the subscription. The subscription cost around $234USD (after 10$ discount) So yeah just saying this is really not worth the time and money
Betterhelp has been so great for me! if you need to talk to someone this a great place to get connected with a therapist that's right for you and is more accessible and cost effective than many "in-office" therapists. I very strongly recommend betterhelp to anyone struggling with mental/emotional hardships any day.
Great app. I love the flexible scheduling. Also so easy to change therapists if one doesnt vibe with you. Provides weekly therapy sessions and group sessions on issues you are struggling with.
Android app will not open and is a blank screen. If problems like this continue and I am forced to use a computer, I will likely have problems communicating to my counselor. Update: The app itself displayed a 504: Gateway Timeout error. Second Update: Their computer website is also not responding. How does the #1 counseling app not have enough bandwidth for it's clients? Do they really expect to charge $80 USD weekly for this level of access?
The service itself is great; this app is terrible. The betterhelp service on a browser app is really great however the experience of accessing that great service through this android app is terrible. So many crashes and slow running speeds.
Have tried to register multiple times both on the app and the website, but not once have I received the email to activate my account. Again and again I have told them to resend it, still nothing shows up after an hour of trying. Some help you people are.
Betterhelp is a really good platform. Provides affordable therapy, which is easy to access and allows for frequent chat with your therapist. However, as of one of the more recent updates, I haven't been able to use the app at all. I cannot send or read messages, nor navigate the menus past the login screen. Seems to be a bug associated with the app. Hopefully it gets fixed soon. Until this bug, the app was working perfectly fine for
It's a very nice option, if there isn't a viable local place for therapy. There's many therapists available of all backgrounds and specialties, so finding a match that fits your needs is possible.
The betterhelp team is very responsive, helpful, and proactive. I had technical difficulties in trying to communicate to my therapist through the app. I contacted betterhelp about my troubles. They fixed the problem in app by my next appointment and have me a free week. On top of that, I find the app very helpful and easy to navigate. The quality of video appointments are great. I love how it matches you with a therapist based on your needs and it's easy to change therapists if needed.
I was skeptical when I first started, but I can honestly say that after two months of talking with my therapist, I've been feeling much better about life. This is a great way to do therapy, especially if you have anxiety about talking in person with a professional. I especially LOVE the texting feature. When things happen to come up between weekly sessions, I can just text my therapist through the app and they usually respond pretty promptly. Its a little expensive, but worth TOTALLY worth it.
I've only had the app downloaded for five minutes and it's already been a frustrating experience trying to get through the questions. It does not save your progress and at the point where I could enter in how I heard about Better Help, the drop menu didn't work. Of course, no back button and no progress saving means that restarting the app meant restarting the whole process. Poor UI design.
I LOVE the fact you can literally message everyday, anytime and as much as you want. they will only answer you once a day but you can kind of use this as your personal diary and have someone kind of look over you and you get feedback from it and the sessions are even through texting if you want to. The only issue I have is I feel that it cost a little too much for just texting they should have a lower rate.
