John Nelson Darby founded a religious movement called Darbysme and translated the Bible into English, French and German from the original texts in Hebrew and Greek.

This French version was published for the first time in 1859 as the New Testament new version. The complete Bible appeared in 1885.

It was a significant success and was published and edited many times and still is a popular Bible among French Protestants.
