couldn't get a label to print properly. rang customer helpline, after many exchanges back and forth I now have a new operating system of double clicking before and after printing before cutting, none of which were part of instructions provided. formatting the labels is so inconsistent, and so much waste of tape. Not a product I would recommend.
After updating with this app, my P710 no longer works and can not be found by Bluetooth on my android phone or chromebook via USB!! I now have to use an old iPhone, which doesn't have the upgrade just to print a label!!! DO NOT UPGRADE FROM THE 1ST VERSION!!!! Thanks brother for making my label printer junk. Won't be buying brother equipment again
This app doesn't contain templates for all their labels. I just bought the QL-800 and 2 rolls of DK circle labels (DK-1218 & 1219). I spent a long time searching for a label maker that would create circular labels without the need for a computer I thought I found it but here we are. They need to add a template for all their labels. I'll be sending my entire order back. Thanks for the disappointment Brother!
as simple as the app is it is missing a lot of functionality, and almost too simple that you need to use the desktop app in order to design what you need making this app little more then a remote printing app with a basic design ability making it a bit of a disappointment as I was expecting more of the design capabilities
Absolute none sense printer Doesn't work all the time. Have to reconnect after nearly every label. Wouldn't have bought it if I knew how terrible it is
App has all of the features I need, with three obvious issues that make it a pain to use. 1.) You cannot share templates with other devices. 2.) When adjusting the size of text boxes, it is almost impossible to grab the corner of the box to expand/shrink it without just moving it instead. 3.) It is impossible to make perfectly flat lines as you have to drag them similarly to the text box corners, and they do not "snap" into place when you approach level. Fix these, please!
Can't change from metric to imperial. The windows app lets me change the setting. Also, there should be an easy way to sync my labels. An option to store them on my OneDrive would be a nice feature. I purchased this device so I can do cable labels. The template provided only is available in 24mm, but I want to do it in 9mm, 3" minimum. Looks like I have to stay with the Windows app. It's a lot better.
Mixed Experience Causes my phone to direct connect, loses all existing connections. Can't exit "Printing..." process if it gets stuck. All around not very reliable. I thought things would get better with software patches, that's not the case. When it works, it works great. When something loses a connection, everything freezes or crashes.
EDIT: 1 star, with android 12, all text is perminantly italicized. Needs a bug fix. Works on previous Android versions. Love the mobile computer style editing. But I have run into a few pain points. - it is hard to finely position text without arrow keys to move boxes pixel by pixel. A mode with on screen arrows to fine tune positions wod be nice. - after chain printing, there is no "feed and cut" option to get the last label out. You have to make a blank label and print that.
I'm using QL-720NW. Very easy to use, sometimes I'm on the bedroom, but the printer is in the basement, I can still print without a problem. And it saves me money because I don't have to spend money on ink. (But you have to pay to buy more Label. I think it's worth it) I will use five stars if in the future there will be a software update with more options. I just think if there is an option to add more effects to your label, for example. Font styles, and icon images, frames and or more.
Most frustrating app ever. Simply not working. It reminds me of the 90s when you had to an engineer to set up a printer and troubleshoot it. 2020's we can fly drones, operate a body on the other side of the planet, switch on the light in our house while on holiday away but we can't print a bloody label. App works on only one device out of 3, most of the time shows a communication error message, doesn't print, or print some but not all quantities. I'm no expert but isn't it the point of apps?
Had constant connection issues with my printer requiring me to restart the app, not sure if it's an issue with the app or the printer but was a very frustrating experience.
No way to import .lbx files created on computer or create backups after 10 and 11 Android updates. No metric units, no snapping, frustrating interface, very hard to create new labels. Symbols can't be scaled proportionally. Overall a very user unfriendly app. For printing out labels made with the P-Touch desktop program, sure, if You're American and/or use Imperial measurement system.
Works well but needs polishing. My biggest issue is that I have to literally increase the label quantity by 1 increments using the plus or minus button. That's just a bad design, I should just be able to type the quantity I want and not have to sit there holding the Plus button to get up to 99 labels. Also after that 99 label print is complete, I will need to hold the minus button to bring the quantity down to 5. Little things like this are very frustrating if you use this app daily.
Label maker is great, connect extremely fast via Bluetooth, Works flawlessly. Would absolutely be a 5-star if there wasn't the wasted tape at the beginning of your first print as others have mentioned. Really not a big deal to tape isn't expensive it's just wasteful. Also if it was a little smaller it would be nice but it does work well on the batteries I've had it for about two months now on the same original six rechargeable batteries. I would definitely recommend and buy again!
Doesn't work. You make a new label and try to print it and the printer reprints the old label.
It works good. Some things could improve in the formatting maybe. It seems a little basic but i like the flexibility of using my device to print instead of a pc or a keyboard. I wish i could get a little more control over the label layout and maybe get some sequential numbering functions. Maybe it has these things and I just dont know how to use them. Anyway the app itself is quick to start using and gets it done. I definitely like it for 5 stars.
This software belongs back in 1993 with Windows 3.11 - it's absolutely horrible and or dated. The only advantage is that I can print a label from my phone but with the time required to operate the horrible GUI I'm quicker off firing up the laptop and printing it from there despite the equally outdated and frustrating to use ptouch software. Consider writing your labels with a sharpie instead of this app...
Getting worse over time. First, the first few characters are always faded. I have to start my text with something I don't need so I can cut it off. Second, it doesn't line up with the cutter. it never prints all the way to the end such that I can cut it off properly. I have to add extra characters to the end so that it might possibly print what I want. It's a great idea and I love how it works but it just doesn't work well.
Works great with a PT-P710BT. You can do pretty much anything you'd NEED to do on the fly. You can even print in "High Quality" mode, over BLUETOOTH! I only wish I could do EVERYTHING that I can do from the PC app on my phone. Maybe in the future this could be a Basic mode and there could also be a more advanced mode? Like the PC App? Either way, Brother did a great job with this app and this label printer. Kudos!
Not horrible but kind of useless for business users. Doesn't allow linking to data bases like the desktop application meaning one would have to manually enter information for every label (very time consuming). Doesn't allow you to import existing templates from desktop. Would be a very useful app if you could connect a Google sheets document.
Text constantly stuck in italic. Changed it in settings under the font tab and remains in italic. Had the app for over a year. What ever you did has broken it. Unistalled twice and reinstalled....no change still cant alter from italic. Opened a default label text not shown in italic in the preview changes to italic.....am I being pranked?
Awful! For a WYSIWYG editor the formatting options are pathetically limited. I should be able to make basically anything with this, and instead it feels like I'm using software from 1999. Also lacks the on-board fonts from the hardware, so mixing printing methods results in labels that don't seem MATCH! Is a Brother somehow unaware that a significant number of their customers (like me) have OCD?!
Very solid software. I have two label printers: QL-1100WNB and QL-820WNB. Both are on Wifi and this app connects to both printers and correctly identifies the labels in each printer. The interface for designing labels is simple but effective. I took off a star because it doesn't recognize all the labels supported by the printer and desktop app (1-inch round labels DK-1218 don't work). Also, you cannot design labels on the desktop and send them to phone. Tested on Galaxy Note 8, 10-May-2021
I love the entire concept like the device too difficult to use the app when short on time and need to make a quick lable. Confusing with so much history of labels. A nice to habe would be a nice generic quick lable create option and also option to generate bar code at end of label for scanning into and out of inventory list. Would geeatly help when creating shoping list. Tram it up with inventory cont list for home use. Would be happy to help enhance additional simfied user capabilities.
I want to give it more stars, but it lacks a few features that could set this device free. There needs to be way to add other fonts and or graphics. A way to import your own graphics files would also improve the overall utility.
It is a nice tool, but I sort of have to troubleshoot the connection every time I use it. Actually for every label I print it looses connection. Also when printing on ribbon material app gives no warning if print is too big to fit. It just displays some communication error.
Badly thought out user interface. Fiddly to enter text if printing lots of labels with different text or barcodes. Not suitable for asset or inventory management. The save as function does not work in an intuitive way. There is no way of sharing templates if there are more than one mobile devices needing to print using the same template. It can't be used for printing shipping labels from couriers. Next to useless in fact.
It used to support RTL languages, not anymore, hope they will fix the issue with an update
I've had no trouble using this app with my P-Touch printer. I've been able to create and save new labels using symbols, multi line and fonts in a simple WYSIWYG interface and print wirelessly to the printer. The interface isn't perfect but it's so much better than the single line LCD on my old label printer.
