Edit: amazing service! I left a review, and had a response within 24 hours. If only other app developers were so responsive. Now that the bugs are fixed, the app works just as I need it to. Even though I don't have the paid version, functionality is great, and I am not overwhelmed with ads. It used to be so good! Suddenly, the app will no longer communicate with Garmin connect even though the setting shows that it's connected. I get an error message every time I try to complete my diary.
I really like the dashboard page with the motivational messages and the food database is good. The negatives: EVERY single time I open the app it has a pop up for the premium version (which I would've considered but it's too expensive); I can't add multiple things at the same time and it doesn't have a done button when you're done putting in a meal, I have to hit a back arrow that takes me back to the diary screen. Also, it would nice if there were more serving size options.
This is a decent app. It actually works pretty well, but I'm giving it 2 stars because of how it tries to annoy you into paying for the upgrade version. Every single time you open the app, you have to click through 2 pop ups: one promoting the paid version, the other to "get started" on adding a meal. It may not sound bad here, but neither pop up is helpful, (even if you want to add a meal, it won't let you multi-select from that menu), and it adds drag to what needs to be an effortless flow.
Sometimes it really isn't the app. I was having issues with saving recipes, even after installing and reinstalling it. I was sure the app was the issue. Then my phone stopped sending and receiving photo messages. Then it couldn't text or call at all. I talked to tech support for a week before I finally upgraded to a new phone. I had an S9 Plus that I was reluctant to give up, but now I have a Motorola Stylus and suddenly the app works flawlessly again. I'm relieved and so happy with it.
Used this app for years and was very successful in losing weight with being conscious of how many calories I was taking in. But it has started glitching. Wheel spinning, I tried uninstalling the app and installing it again. It's just not working 100% like it used to. 😔 I'm still attempting to use this app because it's great when working. Hope the bugs get worked out.
Read carefully- I already fixed the issue. App took forever to sync data between Google fit, seems like you have to use the same email address on both accounts before it will let you sync even though both apps are on the same device. It doesn't throw an error or anything when you try to connect it tells you that it's connected but nothing syncs. Also the widget is oddly proportioned and has too much white space above and below the bar causing it to take up too much space on the screen.
Just signed up for the full month trial. I don't think this app is user friendly, yet. I like the diary and the add foods because of the scan barcode feature. It is amazing! BUT - but that is the only place to get scan the barcode, when you are adding food for that particular day. And I can't figure out how to have it just be put into my foods. And you can only move the food between meals in that day or delete the item. Then my food isn't saved anywhere else. So, that's what makes it not user fr
Overall I love the app and have been using it for years. Recently though they have had some major bugs that make it not user friendly as well as unable to link with my fitbit. I appreciate all of the upgrades they are trying to do bit feels like they need a more rigorous regression testing before pushing changes to the production app.
Incredible app, except for one thing.. It doesn't sync data from 1 device to the next very well. I input most of my food data on my iPhone, and sometimes on my Android. When I try to sync my data on Android it won't show the data from my iPhone, or it will only load some of it. This break the experience for me quite a bit but I'll definitely continue to use it.
I love this app. It's easy to use and the best motivation I've had to manage my weight. I'm struggling with features that usually were accessible to me though. I can't create new recipes or edit created recipes and I don't know if there is a limit I can create or not. If It's a bug, please can MyFitnessPal fix it. This really throwing me off my game.
I really like the update - it makes it easier to add frequently used foods quickly. I do think the catalogue of foods is cluttered, but that can be a pro when you're almost sure to find the good you're looking for, it just takes a while to find one that's entered correctly (and updated). Overall, a very helpful for diary.
This app has the potential to be great. I like everything about it except syncing with Fitbit is way to finicky. Having to repair the connection should be rare, but it's often and cumbersome. A second pay tier would be recommended also. I don't want the things, mostly, offered in premium. But I would pay something less than premium for a more reliable Fitbit connection. A few bucks a month maybe.
I've used this app on and off for years and I would love it if everything actually worked. The recipes have been broken for a long time so when I try to create a new recipe, I get all the way thru the process and get an error that it can't be saved. I just realized today that old entries are showing up with meals duplicated and throwing off my calories counts and macros. Apparently this has also been an issue for a long time also and I haven't found a fix to it anywhere online.
Update #2: Nearly a year since reporting these syncing issues with steps and exercise in May 2021, nothing has been done about it. I'm still dealing with it as of 5/15/22. Update: App/website aren't working at all. Tried uninstalling and reinstalling and resetting my password. Can't access anything. Love the aesthetics update, but my exercise is no longer syncing properly since updating. My steps show 0. I did not change anything and this was working just fine up until today.
For the extent that I use it I couldn't complain one bit. I finally incorporated MFP into my fitness journey and it's taught me a lot about my diet and how to use Macros. The import/create recipe option I also great. Only once have I had an issue with MFP but it happened to be a major issue straight across the board and they were diligent on getting it taken care of, kudos to the team behind the scenes.
All around a good app. Few things that could be polished up. Like not having to search things you've eaten recently. Sometimes they appear but sometimes they don't. If items appeared chronologically in order of what was eaten last for each meal that would be helpful. Edit: the change was made! Great app.
Database is really impressive as well as the scan barcode feature which I really enjoy. I also like that it can connect to fitness watch/apps to give you a better idea of your overall daily activity. However, its constantly duplicating the workouts I've entered and so I have to go through and keep deleting the extras, this also goes for foods entered. On top of this, it sometimes just doesn't upload my steps for the day, or it does upload then for 2 minuets and suddenly they dissappear again.
Great app! A few glitches, like ingredients are not accessible when you flag a recipe (you have to find it from the original listing), but this app has really helped me realize what I eating! Since the calories and macros can be adjusted, it's all personalized, even daily. Great recipes as well. Lost 4 pounds in 2 weeks and wasn't starving! Just have to be diligent about entering in the food log, measuring amounts as needed. Love that exercise and water can be tracked. Eye opening!
The subscriptions is too expensive. Used this app in the past for free off and on for years (mostly off) and it was great. Seems they got greedy, or know some people will pay $20 a month, at risk of alienating others. Free version is ok, but full of reminders to buy subscription for options that used to be included for free. $2-$5 would be more reasonable with $5 being an absolute hard cap. My mom did beta testing and got a year free, so that seems like the way to go.
