Great shows & movies. And decent user interface. Many issues have been resolved since my initial review. I had it at 4 stars, but i had to drop it. I pay for the ad-free subscription, but that's a lie. Before every show/episode/movie, i get a 30 second ad for some random show on Paramount+. Unskippable, unwanted, and not in anyway tailored to something i might like. No other service does this to their ad-free tier and they're doing just fine. Please remove this "feature"!
The app is slow to load, but I kept it after the 3 mo trial because for $5/mo, I can be patient. Once a show started, I never had issues.. As soon as my trial ended & I was billed the full amount, the app stopped working! It stops every 3-5 seconds to buffer, making it impossible to watch. Interestingly, it doesn't buffer at all playing ads. It's a shame, because they have a good selection of shows. I'm canceling my subscription and using that $5 towards upgrading another streaming service.
Using cell internet is not so good for travelers. My wife can't watch it while i,m moving or just setting still. Most of the time. I yet to find anything I can download while we r a sleep. For we can watch it later. Also it doesn't give u a option to adjust the quality of the video, if u have slow internet speeds. I paid for a year. Let's see if they fix it. If not I will just stick with Netflix. Love the shows but if I can watch them with out it frequently freezing and buffing. What's the point
Such a shame, this is the worst streaming app my family and I have used. Paramount plus has a lot of movies and shows we actually want to watch. We have tried it also on Samsung Smart TV and Through our Xbox one & so far the app behaves the same way. We might get a movie to actually play, but afterwards, we try to watch other movies or TV shows, we get an ad then it just freezes and doesn't load any of the programs. I hope it is fixed soon or I'll be forced to cancel.
I've enjoyed using this app to watch my shows so much more than relying on my DVR... I pay for the ad free version, but still do get them before a show starts, but at least it's not that long (for now), so it's easier than having to use the remote to flip past the commercials when saved in my DVR... I've enjoyed the content and look forward to some new movies being released in the coming months.
This app has a lot of good shows and movies and for only $5/month after the 3 free months isnt a bad deal. Only problem I have with the app is it cuts off all of sudden, have great service so I know it's not an internet thing. I can easily pick up where I left off but when your show closes out every few minutes it gets kinda irritating. If that wasnt a problem I'd easily rate this app 5 stars, hope the problem gets fixed soon.
I like the app and shows but I use the download option and half the time they don't work. This is a huge waste if my data and if it continues I will have no choice but to drop this service. Update: Tried as you suggested, thank you but all the items were related to streaming and I download the shows. I download shows when I have good signal in town and watch at home. Half the time the shows won't play. I have to delete them and do it again.
App is extremely frustrating. If you're lucky enough, you may be able to eventually open an episode...just for the screen to go black with not even a loading signal in sight. Tried resetting it many times to no avail. Out of all streaming platforms, this one is the winner for... the worst! Can't even stream on their website because it just sends me to the stupid app. Unfortunate because they have good content...
Needs Improvement! It lags really bad on the tv app to the point where I just cast it from my phone exclusively. When you fast forward or rewind the program, a picture doesn't pop up to show you where you're fastforwarding to. When you stop watching a movie/tv show and turn off your device it resets the program to the beginning. This is extremely frustrating and I have to write down the episode and time I was at so I don't spend 5 minutes trying to find where I left off. Ran out of characters...
Works great. Only two downsides that are actually REALLY annoying is 1. If you have an on screen navigation bar then you can't hide it while anything plays unless you go into your phone settings and disable it altogether and just not worth doing everytime you want to watch something. The 2nd thing, it isn't really about mobile, but it's the subtitles on other devices. They're these tiny subtitles in black color and it's literally impossible to see and can't change. Please fix these two issues?
I love the content and dont mind Commercials, but they constantly buffer, so 90 second commercials take double that to watch. Video often crashes after you pause and so you have to back out then watch another set of commercials before getting back to your show. This has been a problem for a while now and troubleshooting doesn't help. As you can see they have multiple reviews saying the same thing but have not been able to fix the issue as of yet.
The content is great, but everything pertaining to operability, ease of access, etc.. is horrible. The video playback is constantly having flashes of green screen, the rewind/ fast forward option is max 3x instead of freely moving to where you'd like, and if and when you lose connection the app starts you right back at the beginning of whatever you are watching. It will literally take 2 hours to watch a 50 min show sometimes. I just don't understand why their system is so dated. This isn't 2001
5/10. Instead of asking your customers to call a useless number, try doing something about the constant buffering issues. Nothing has changed. No tech support has helped. Clearly this isn't an isolated issue. Fix the problem. Have uninstalled and reinstalled several times. Cleared data and cache and nothing works to prevent it from buffering every 10 seconds. Absolutely ridiculous. For sure a recent issue. Please figure it out.
I had a black screen with sound on some of your shows and movies. I called the number for technical help. Tried all the steps. One being to uninstall and reinstall the app. I did that and before signing in, I seen you offered free shows. So I looked at it. I tried watching one of the shows that I like and have on my list. It played perfectly. Picture was there, sound was good and I thought that fixed my problem. So I backed out and signed in. Went to the same show and BAM! BLACK SCREEN & SOUND.
App works perfectly on my phone but for some reason it doesn't work right on my Smart TV, it cuts out about every 30 seconds. It didn't do it at first but after a few days it started cutting out no matter what I did. I even tried deleting the app off my TV and reinstalling it, reset my router, nothing worked it's still doing it. So, unfortunately, I won't be renewing my Paramount+ subscription. After I finish watching a series I recently started watching I'm prbly going to cancel my subscription
When an episode is done, why is there no option to start the next one, like Netflix? It's a hassle to jump out to main screen, find the show again, go to episodes, and select the next one. Where's the efficiency? Also supposed to be ad-free, so what's with the Paramount commercials at the start of each episode. A commercial is a commercial! Really disrupts the experience and is basically bait 'n switch. Don't say a service is ad-free when it's not! Thought I'm paying for the Premium option?
The app is lacking in two basic features that every other streaming service has. 1) it doesn't show what episodes were already watched, and 2) it doesn't pick up where you left off in the middle of a movie/episode. Otherwise the app seems great, but those two things are critical enough to me that it knocks off 2 or 3 stars. Slightly annoying that the higher price option still shows unskippable ad at the beginning. Fortunately the price is reasonable but I will likely cancel and try again later.
While I enjoy the content and some of the features (watching Serie A matches in Italian is fun) there are some issues that need to be fixed. Firstly, casting live content from the app to a Chromecast does not function properly. It will only cast for about 5 to 10 minutes and then stops playing the content and the only way to get it to play again is to force quit the app and reset the casting. Also navigation is a chore and the search function doesn't always yield the results you're looking for.
Content is awesome, platform not so much. Some of my favorite shows are on this platform. But the actual app is the worst I think I've ever used. Constant buffering, having to restart several times to even start a show. Not having this problem with any other streaming platform so it must be the app Update Yeah Mr automated response. Done all the troubleshooting Doesn't buffer while the show is playing, only buffers during ads. I'm no code writer but I would assume the problem is with the app.
The biggest issue is the constant buffering. It's not worth the money in my opinion if it takes 2+ hrs to watch a 40 minute episode. Half the time episodes don't play properly and it shows an error. It will replay the same episodes over and over and not skip ahead. I've canceled my subscription twice because of these issues. I'm likely going to cancel again.
The all doesn't sync with headphone controls. Every single competitor app, I can hit pause/play, but not while watching Paramount+. It's not a tech issue to call in. I've tried it on multiple devices, multiple headphones, wired and unwired, and it just doesn't work. They have a lot of content, but the mobile app is missing that most basic feature. Also... Commercials!? Even if we played $2 a month, good still have millions of that $2/month. So want do we have to do watch commercials!? Greed!
Edit: Um No thanks, why don't you just address the errors in your app instead of an auto response The mobile app is really really unreliable. There have been a dozen times I have just given up trying to watch a show after getting caught in a loop of crashes where it still makes you watch all the ads. They were way better off as a channel on the prime app. The network is starting to build some really good content but it won't matter if they can't figure out the interface
The terrible instability of the early days of the CBS all access apps are finally smoothed out, but still no way to skip intros or ads. Speaking of ads, pay all you want for ad free service, there's no such thing. Ads before every episode AND when switching devices within a single episode. Netflix is so much better, but Paramount is pulling shows from Netflix to force everyone to use their inferior service. If you're using this app it's because there's literally no other way to watch the show!
Content is excellent, but that's the only thing they've got going for it. User interface is garbage. On a Samsung TV, the app takes forever to load, frequently loops/replays the same 3 seconds of a show, stops playing because of an "error". Rewinding isn't great (you have to guess the time stamp as you aren't shown frames), and the subtitles look terrible. None of these can be blamed on user error or poor internet as all other streaming apps are working fine.
Unfortunately the screen will periodically go completely black. Sound for the show will play, and I can even put on subtitles and those work just fine. I have tried resetting the app, my phone and even uninstalling and reinstalling the app but it just won't work. There is no settings to change quality or else I'd try that but to no avail. It's ridiculous to pay to watch certain shows and all you get is a glorified version of an audiobook.
