Character Story Planner 2 - World-building App

I tried to ignore the reviews of the bugs of it crashing all of a sudden since it was a month old. and all of the information being put was all distorted and repeated itself for no reason. having almost all of my information deleted. While it only kept 15% of all the information that i placed. Luckily it crashed pretty soon, i was half way done with my character until it crashed all of a sudden. Please fix your app. It has great potential, but please fix the bugs. It's super frustrating.

The app is well organized and wonderfully creative. However I can't give it more than 1 star because it recently began crashing when opening almost all of the character files. I have updated it, cleared the cache, restarted it, and even exported my files...with the intention of importing them again after a full deletion of files. The app now crashes every single time I try to import the data. I have sent feedback through the app itself multiple times and have heard nothing.

As far as I'm aware this app is perfect. I don't quite use it as a story planner, but for d&d, and it works a treat. So long as the import database function works I can save my backup on my drive, so even if I change phone I should be able to keep all my work (though I don't know if it does work, fingers crossed). Being able to create and share tabs is also great, as you can really specialise it to what you want, and even make things for your friends. Long story short, strongly recommended.

I like it, has a great potential if some basic funcions were added (over 20-30 characters, places... It becomes very time consuming to search one), stability issues. But timeline is excellent feature (missing shown entries to choose). Additional feedback follows... You can freely use my character setup for improvements and I will report some suggestions to consider further on, if needed. Thnx for the free app with no adds!!!❤️ 😃

(4/5) Very good and easy to use. I like to keep things organized and this really helps. The only problem is my app frequently crashes and i have to restart it. Other than that is a really good app. (2/5) So I'm updating this review to say that the import and export system is completely broken. Exporting it is fine but importing it is actually impossible. I recently got a new phone and i really don't want to put everything in again. But thats not even an option now. Im so frustrated.

At first the app the app was a bit hard to navigate, then when I got the hang of it and started putting down character information I found the questions to be intriguing. But when I close the app and open it later, I find that text that I wrote in one field is duplicated and put into every other field, overwriting what was already there. If the bug is fixed I may consider downloading again.

Very helpful in planning out and organizing story ideas and concepts. Really like that you can make your own or use templates made by others though it would be nice if there was a better way to search for specific community templates rather than just going through pages on that tab. Also i feel a misc tab would probably be very helpful for templates that dont really fit any of the other catagories. But over all very flexable to your story needs and would recommend

Since the update fixing a lot of bugs and problems, the app has become a lot better. Although there have been no problems. No glitchiness or lag, no copies of the same text into different boxes, and a few bugs with the community tab, I still found that the timeline doesn't work. I tried reinstalling it in case it just needed rebooting but it didn't work. While not a big problem, the timeline would be useful for my highly confusing story. Great app, use it for every story, just that one bug.

It's been pretty good. Crashes kinda often, but starts back up no problem. Enjoy the templates, wish there were some more in depth ones, however, the create-a-template is ok enough. My main gripe is the timeline. It has messed up the 'years' on a few 'most defining moments' which is correct in the character's profile, but just doesn't seem to translate to the timeline and it can make it quite confusing.

I've been trying to decide whether to use this app or the older, original one. This one is way more organized, beautiful and practical, overall it has great tools with many fields to detail which makes character planning very fun. However, it seems to be missing an export or backup option. The original had a backup to SD card. Is there any way to backup my data at all on this app? Also, why I can't add a timeline? There isn't a button for it apparently.

I love the layout of this app. The main problem I encounter with it is that the information within a entry tends to erase and copy itself; for example, if I put the word Neutral at the bottom of a page, it'll erase everything else on the page and just place more Neutrals into the word boxes. It's really annoying, and I've lost a lot of progress thanks to the glitch. If it gets fixed, I would definitely give this app a 5 out of 5.

I love this app, it is extremely useful! And I've done so much with it. But I have had a few issues. 1st, the app needs accounts, so that you can connect, share templates easily, ect. 2nd, I had to reinstall the app and lose everything I had because it kept crashing. 3rd, saving something in your phone doesn't work, and the app just crashes! Please fix these issues. Also, the character templates do not show. :(

I like the upgrade and the ability to customize the templates. However, a feature that should be easily usable is the export/import feature. Also instead of just pdf files like the first application, add the ability to convert to text files as well. The first app crashes when creating the pdf file and trying to share it. That would be one of the first things I'd recommend. Or to download all the files into a zip folder as well. Other than that, I like the improvement.

I like the format. It's minimalistic and intuitive. What I find a bit lacking is the opportunity to costumize, especially in the time line department. I tend to create a lot of back story that won't appear as an scene but helps me understand where the characters are coming from. If I were to add all of that to scenes it'd be a mess. I've been looking for an alternative for Novelist, and I look forward the app's further development. It has a lot of potential =)

Compared to the other character planners I've worked with this one is more organized. Not only that but you can create a more detailed outline for your characters, story, & any other items or effects to fit your need. My only problem with the app is the timeline. It's fixed & doesnt allow for a more accurate timeline. For example, say I have a character in BC but another in AD. The timeline is now backwards & anything between will be lost in a mess. I can put descriptions in but still a mess.

It has a lot of nice features, but it's missing a very important one: Ability to operate in landscape mode. It's an app that can benefit so much from a keyboard, but most keyboard cases for tablets position the tablet in landscape mode while this app forces portrait display. Beyond that, I very much enjoy the level of organization and detail this app accommodates for. Get landscape support and it will easily be the best of its kind.

Overall, I like the app. It keeps my characters and other ideas in one place and I'm able to separate them between books and such. However, it's very prone to crashing which drains a bit of my battery. Usually crashes anytime I switch apps for a bit. One other thing I'd critique is the option to download other templates, there's not many options and even ignoring that it's kind of hard to find what you're wanting specifically.

Much better than the old app. It does not lag or have issues with copying and pasting like the old one. Some features are not available yet. I have a few concerns: When typing something, your keyboard and the ad on the bottom comes up of course, taking away some space to see, but the header of the app also stays up and takes away even more space, so it's hard to see what I'm typing sometimes. Sometimes, when I paste info in, I get taken to the bottom of the page and have to scroll back up. I wish I could preview things on the Share page without having to download them. Otherwise this is a major improvement.

It's a very good app, I think. I like it a lot. My only suggestions would be to have a function with which you can share your stories (with other writers or with a cloud (like One Drive or Dropbox)) and to have a function which makes changing a title easier. Writers often start with a title, but as they progress they sometimes find out the title doesn't exactly match. I think there should be an easier way to change the title, in case the writer finds out it doesn't match the story well.

Great app, I love it. It's a good way of organising your world building all in one place. It could use some minor improvements but it's great either way. The two things that have been something of a minor inconvenience would be the fact that when you exit a character, deity, creature, etc it takes you back to the top, when you've already created quite a few of them can make editing a bit tedious. Also when using link questions it would be great if you could link more than one item since it has it's limitations only being able to link one item per question. Either way I love this app, and on top of that is free! Great work guys.

I've used this app since it came out and I've had almost no problems. The app was updated and now for some reason the script feature (which is what I use the most) is screwed up in every way. The tabs still show up, but when I click on them the text isn't there, regardless of how much was in it or when I last opened the script. Whenever I try to edit a script (even if I make a brand new one), the app crashes. I've tried exporting and importing my data but it's done nothing. Total BS.

I really like how organized the app is! But I have a logistical issue and I can't tell if its the design or a bug. The screen doesn't orient with the device. For instance, I have a keyboard for my tablet and I use it in the landscape position. But the app does not orient and stays in the portrait orientation which is very difficult. I hope if it's a bug, something can be done. If it's intentional... I may have to find something else, sadly because can't quite write that way.

I LOVED the app. Perfect for my writing needs and with the template maker and sharing, it becomes so much versatile. It's not a problem per se, but it would be more user friendly if you add a "Settings" button where you can adjust the theme, font, font size, the imports and exports could also be placed there. The "Script" feature is a really great one, but I'd rather have it with adjustable font size cause not every writer can see those small letters. Tl;dr If you guys can, add a settings feature, but most importantly, a variable font size please.

It's very good for character creation and timeline making, however it needs a few tweaks. The most pressing issue is that you can't save your work online, so if your electronic gets lost or destroyed you're screwed. If that can't be done, can you make it so everything can be copy-pasted? Specifically the timeline. Other than that, it would be nice if there was a default template of each category instead of us needing to download templates. More detail in the default templates would also be nice.
