Chess

Chess in your Android
Chess is a board game for two players. It is played on a square board, made of 64 smaller squares, with eight squares on each side. Each player starts with sixteen pieces: eight pawns, two knights, two bishops, two rooks, one queen and one king. The goal of the game is for each player to try and checkmate the king of the opponent. Checkmate is a threat ('check') to the opposing king which no move can stop. It ends the game.

During the game the two opponents take turns to move one of their pieces to a different square of the board. One player ('White') has pieces of a light color; the other player ('Black') has pieces of a dark color. There are rules about how pieces move, and about taking the opponent's pieces off the board. The player with white pieces always makes the first move. Because of this, White has a small advantage, and wins more often than Black in tournament games.

Chess is popular and is often played in competitions called chess tournaments. It is enjoyed in many countries, and is a national hobby in Russia.

I wish you would slow down this game so I could see which of my pieces were being captured, especially at the end. As it is, there's no way to go Back and review your losing move (unless you run the analysis all the way through to the end, which is too time-consuming). I need to hav e that feedback during the game too. Another thing: I think the game is in error when I'm in check at the end and it won't let me move my king again. I should be able to capture the checking piece with my king & win.

Enjoying it. I've had it about 2 days and I've unlocked the Master level. I'm not sure how accurate it is with ratings. Some of the games were difficult from expert level. I noticed the AI does make some silly mistakes. For example I've made a few bad moves and then realized it after, yet the AI doesn't take advantage of it. This only happens about 10 percent of the time though, so not always. I guess it takes into account human error of basically possibly not noticing. Good game though!

As a beginner, I enjoy the analysis mode feature. It rates both player's moves and shows a suggested move too. This mode lets me reflect on the game, taking into account. The settings let me choose a board theme and perspective (e.g., top down or human user perspective), and whether I want to play black, white, or alternate. I'm very pleased with my experience on this app. Thanks!

The AI is balanced and the user interface has come a long way. This is an amazing tool for individuals who want to improve their skill or start to take chess seriously. The difficulty modes are on pare with the actual ranking difficulties. The app gets updated regularly when it comes to making it user friendly and fixing bugs/glitches while also improving the overall app itself. This app helped me a lot (while I was preparing for tournaments) and wholeheartedly recommend it.

It's fast and easy to start and play. The AI ... Could use some work. It goes off book on move 3 sometimes. When it blunders it does so in a crazy way. Overall too easy . Some of the analysis is wrong best move is not always given green star. Still better than other apps .

It's response is quick and it doesn't drain your battery which is lovely. But at times when you're in a losing position it always allow an out which is the only flaw. When computer has the clear advantage it should beat you. Thanks I Love the game though.

VERY inconsistent AI. In one round, it's practically giving up pieces with moves that don't make sense or give any benefit. In the next, it's suddenly very aggressive. I enjoy trying new strategies so I can improve, so I do like the ability to take back a move so I can see how an opponent would respond. But you can't do that for the last move. The ability to take back the last move would overcome the first issue, but until then I'm switching to a different chess app.

What can I say? It does exactly what it says on the tin. However, it's not without its faults, in a lot of matches you play it says it's a draw even though there are clearly moves you can make, in fact sometimes it says draw even though you've got the opponents king In check. These are bugs I'm sure would be somewhat easily ironed out, and I hope to see them gone in future updates. Other than that, it's alright. (In fact, this problem didn't happen in beginner difficulty so it might just add the illusion of difficulty be completely stopping you from winning sometimes, however, this is just a theory.)

A solid app throughout. The easier levels are kinda a joke if you know how to play chess, as the AI simply makes a lot of random moves or blunders, but it gets more challenging once you've passed expert level. I still can't win at master level! Would suggest to add approximate ELO ratings to each level. Also, I don't get the 1 star reviews. While I do get the "invalid move" error from time to time, trying it a second time would usually work, so I'm not sure if it's a bug or what. I can do castling just fine, and haven't seen the AI do any illegal moves. I suspect most of the 1 star reviews are from people who don't know chess' rules.

This game is very good. The game analisys could be a little more accurate: a few times I definitely made the right move and it identifies it as a bad move, which doesn't make any sense. Another thing: the game could have a statistics tab, containing the number of games played, percentage that the wins represent, etc. Other than that, it's perfect. Only the ads that get in the way a little.

WOW! WHERE DO I EVEN BEGIN! Nice and simple and easy to use. I love how you can switch from 2d chess board to 3D. I prefer 2D from the top view. But you can choose what you want. It never freezes . Helps you learn more. You can review your game after. It let's you go back in case you made a mistake. I would recommend this to anyone beginning and or middle to good level .

Very happy with this app so far. Can I make a request? I am curious if you can show stats. For example I've played the advanced-level many times and I'm wondering how many times did I lose, how many times it was a draw and how many times I won. Can a simple set of digits be put in the box showing win, lose, draw statistics at each level? Thank you. There are lots of chess game apps out there but this one is simple and easy to use-no unnecessary bells and whistles.

I love the look. I also like the analysis feature. What I don't like is the AI's endgame. It's like it loses all common sense and mentally sputters. It'll have me on the ropes, then one of the pieces will just start moving back and forth regardless of the rest of the game around it. Then I know it's an easy win from there. It may be trying for "good move" points. It moves out of danger and gets a star, it moves back into danger and gets a demerit, then repeats this over and over.

The AI is completely weird. As a patzer, once upon a time I won against the so-called 'Champion Level'. I don't even calculate anything deeper than a few moves against the so-called 'Expert Level'. The graphical interface is OK, the ghost is the AI. Sorry I'd better do something with Stockfish and then always lost, than trying to be fun with this app - it's insanely funny!

Very little to complain about. Straight forward, lots of fun and excellent for amateurs wanting to learn the game. Ads are a pain and sometimes the sound goes out. The game can get slightly monotonous but it's chess... so... it's not really about cutscenes and upgrading your skills and armor or customizing an avatar so, monotony isn't really that big of a deal. I found it preferable to several of the other chess games which had more bells and whistles and were almost exclusively pay to play.

It's pretty good. The lower levels are perhaps too easy to beat... I'm not a very good chess player but reached 'Master' level in very few games. The one thing that's missing (or perhaps I just haven't found) is an option to resign. Other than that, great implementation of the game, no intrusive adverts, decent graphics (annoying sound though).

This is a very good game. It improves our skills. We have to unlock the easier levels first to play the harder levels. I really like it. There are puzzles also which improve our skills in chess. I love it. But it contains adds. Most of the time we can close the adds but sometimes you need to see the adds to get the hint. The hints give us the whole answer.

I enjoy a lot this app. I would like to suggest the following improvements: 1) Add a feature to offer or accept a draw. Right now the only way to get a draw is to either repeat a position three times or play 50 moves without taking a piece or move a pawn; 2) Add a feature to allow saving games. In addition, I would like to mention that I am playing at the Championship level, and noticed that when the position is very hard to force, the program ' gets tired' after a while, forces and loses.

Really good app. It's not ridiculously difficult to play against & some of the computer moves are personable, so it's more like playing an actual person instead of a supercomputer. My one qualm so far is their definition of a draw. A draw is when there are only kings left on both sides, *childishness ahead* not my opponent only has a king while I've still got a bishop. There is too still a possibility of checkmate. (granted I'm that person that likes to drag the game out, even if the roles are reversed. I'm either trying to checkmate someone or force them into a draw.)*end* Other than that, really fun. It's nice to play seriously & realistically for the first time in a while.

Challenging and fun!! I learn from my mistakes, which is the best way, in my opinion, to really learn and clinch something. Once I have "won" or achieved a level, I feel satisfied. I recommend this to someone who doesn't want to feel like they are "wasting time" being on their phone by playing something that isn't boring and makes one think! Graphics and stuff: great!! + Fast and smooth gameplay

I enjoyed that it allows you to progress from beginner and win your way to tougher games. I cheated & moved 1 turn back. I think it would force me to get tougher if I had to suffer for my errors. Still it's a great trainer. Keep on enjoying it. I haven't played in years. I'd like to try more master openings. I've forgotten most. But the Sicilian defense can be employed nicely here. Great setup! Thanks for letting me see what I've lost verses retained. It definitely has nice pieces Best wishes!

Solid chest simulator. Graphics aren't spectacular, but everything is clean and more than sufficient for chess. No flashy or gaudy effects. AI is solid, and provides a good challenge without being too difficult. I've played some chess simulators in the past that were absolutely too hard on any difficulty, but I made it through hard difficulty on this one without too much headache. Enjoyable and flexible game, good job.

Well, I don't think you can say to much either way about a Chess game app. I'll do my best. As for the gameplay its exactly what you would want and expect from such a simple game (simple in terms of function). One thing i do like is that it has. 2 player option so me and my daughter can play against each other. As the levels progress againt the computer it definately begins to get highly challenging. If you can beat it at expert without rewinding any moves you should be proud of yourself.

Great game with multiple levels of difficulty so it gives everybody a place to start, and because of this you're able to climb into higher difficulties. It's got pretty good graphics. It's a great way to both kill time and hone your chess skills. I genuinely have so much fun playing this, props to the devs for making a great product. As a user I do have a recommendation for the devs, you should put a button to see the list of moves both sides made, that way players can learn new techniques.

Great game. You can play it anywhere and anytime: when you are queuing, in a waiting room, in bed, traveling long distances on a plane etc. It kills time without noticing. More than all, it helps your brain to function and think strategically. I also like the different views (top, 2D, and 3D) it allows players to have

I like the different levels you are able to play and I have been able to progress nicely through the ranks to continue to get better. However I wish you could choose to play black because that is a scenario that obviously arises, and I would be fun for it to be open to multi-player. Those reasons will eventually force me to move on to a different chess app although I still may keep this until I have been the levels and puzzles.

Ron. R. Aug 17, 2020

Just started playing. Been at it for, maybe an hour. Works fine so far. Haven't noticed any bugs or any other software-related problems. The game is great for a quick game of chess, when you're on a break, or when you're bored. Would rate it 5 stars, if it wasn't for the slightly annoying amount of ads(one ad per EVERY time you go back to main menu), but... I get it. We all gotta be paid for our efforts, one way, or another. So, I'm not complaining. ....much.
