Chess Free

One of the best games on there with a beginner mode that teaches how to play the game. I've never played chess before and now I'm addicted. Very little ads, which is nice considering how many other games have more ads than play time. Eventually, I will buy the ad free version just to support this company and to say thanks for not being an ad machine.

Good chess game. The ads are super aggressive. I have to shut down the app and then open it to get rid of the ads. Many times I have been tempted to delete this app because the advertisement will not allow me to close it and play the chess game. Advertisements are very controlling. Very sad these advertisements are in control. Can not close the advertisement. It is a great chess game. My dilemma is to put up with the super aggressive ads or find another chess game.

Good app for practicing. I like the tutor function but it lacks explanations. The ads are skippable. Pleasant board and piece options. The AI does some weird stuff sometimes, like refusing to defend itself 4-5 moves from checkmate but it's mostly good. I would like to see more info, such as move analysis in the "review game" feature and tutor. Both Hint and Tutor seem to do the same thing, sometimes offering a different move suggestion but with no explanation.

I love this chess game... BUT... the difficulty level jumps dramatically from the lowest level to level 3. If the developers want normal people to enjoy this game, they need astronomically smaller jumps in difficulty. I'm not great, but I would think I should be able to win in level 3. But I don't think I can currently. This game is perfect if you are Bobby Fischer or Boris Spassky. But most of my friends don't like it because they can't get above level 1.

Like all free games ridiculous,long and loud commercials that you can't skip. Now the new trick is when you hit the x on the incessant popeyes add to get rid of it they begin to download. I had to delete the popeyes app 20 times. Does anyone ever buy any of the junk they advertise? People are getting sick of this nonsense. Just stop it. Now the newest add is learn how to play hearts, an add you can't skip, it goes on and on then the screen goes black untill you force close and reopen the app.

Feature request..It's a great game..but some time in multiplayer mode we move the piece by mistake i.e. by mistake touch..and we do not have option to revert. There should be an undo option with some time duration..like 2 seconds..so that we can do the undo.. some times its really frustrating.. please see into this issue

This game is ruined by a very unpleasant feature. When playing on the lower levels (wanting to play a relaxing game while tired) about once in 20 games the game will play at a much higher level, stringing together a series of 5 or 6 obscure moves which create a devastating outcome. This makes the game extremely unenjoyable to play. To give more detail, most of the time the game is good. But occasionally in the easy levels the game seems to decide that it is going to win, and plays brilliantly.

Used to be good until recently when they started with ads. Terrible ads placement. You will often end up with redirecting to playstore or ad website due to ads position and timings while using the app. Ad skip button keep changing its position and often invisible. No way its a 5 sec ad as you wont be able to locale ad close/skip button. I understand the need for placing ads. But here you are forced to open ads by cleverly positioning the ads. So unethical. More like a spam app now. Removing it.

Ads, ads, ads, ads, ads. Don't download this app, unless you want each end game to be immediately interrupted with an ad. Also, they happen so fast, you'll accidently click them. It's debilitating. Also devs, please don't respond to my comment. I hate when devs act all passive aggressive. Learn to take constructive criticism.

Really great chess game. I sampled 6 of the top chess games and this came out on top for me. It has very intricate analysis and standard plays built into the game, great board themes and sound affects. I like the tutor mode and the unlimited undoes. It doesn't have puzzles, which is a shame, but I'm really enjoying it!

It's an ok app. I love chess the way it is but the CPU skill is way too complex. I started off with practice mode and after about 10 matches I moved onto CPU 1. Now I can't win a single match because the skill has increased so much that it absolutely destroys me. I don't wanna be stuck on practice mode the whole time so please change this.

I always have loved chess. Way back when uncle Earni professor at Chicago college taught us to play in 5th grade. Not very good truth be told but I can hold my own. This is like any other game and it is super fun. 3rd difficulty would be super hard Nice thing about the chess games..not a bunch of commercials after a quick hand in spades.

The CPU STATUS Showing here Not at all Works Properly. My Score in Casual Mode is Standing still @Fix Point Level(i.e.2650), whereas I'm winning at a Stretch almost all Matches⚠️⁉️⁉️ The winning % are also standing still in each individual Game slab. The Best Help Guidance also doesn't show the Proper/Perfect Move. Moreover it suggests even just WRONG MOVES at some Critical Situations i.e. in Favour of CPU⚠️⁉️👆👎👎 Now Please Rectify these issues Immediately to make it A Complete Game. Thank U

I like this game... Recently I started noticing a bug where when the opponent's French defense moves close to my French defense... It dissapears... Please can you fix that... Otherwise it is a great game, the bug has persisted since I noticed it and reported the bug to you, Also is it possible to put screenshots in a Google play app review? ... And if so, how?

I have a suggestion that would make this app perfect for a lot of people. Having a way to set the engine think times, sometimes it moves so fast it breaks the immersion and often times make you move fast too and not think of your moves I would love if I could set that up

Pretty good chess game. The ads could get annoying but you can skip them, if you can find where to skip them ... But the AI plays well and it can be a challenge if you are up for one!

I love it! the ads aren't to bad, but the tutor mode just tells you what to do, not why or how your doing it. so it's not really a "learning" game, more like a fun game to play for chess players

No problems with functionality. I've seen chess apps that don't even setup the pieces correctly. This game play is good. Graphics are nice without being too much. I play levels 1&2 to build confidence. Levels 3&4 are a good challenge for me. Perhaps you can handle the higher levels. The player should be able to pick an opening that the computer sticks to for 5+ moves. Game analysis would be nice too. For a fun, free app to pass the time though, this might be for you.

Amazing play. But don't expect it to be smooth. Hoped to get in some play time while listening to music. Nope. Every time an add plays it stops my audio. Also annoying that the adds open a second window. The app glitches during adds and most the time have to close and reopen the app to get back to where I was. Adds are normal unfortunately, and I understand that, but play back issues caused because of you advertising is not. I will be investing in chess for my Nintendo switch instead.

One of the best chess apps out there. There is an in game tutor and a practice mode. Absolutely worth it for such a small size. The ads are also bearable. Great work by the developers.

One of the app. I will play for online and with friends. I will recommend this first to try. Started using it 6 months back or more(in 2021).Good design of chess pieces and love the design and some good features in app.

Good pawn design. Other than that, the ads are annoying especially when playing short games in easier difficulties, and more importantly, the opponent AI difficulty gets messed up. Instead of playing at level 2, like i set it up to, it plays way better. And i know this is the case because i play a match at lvl 2, it absolutely destroys me, and then i play another one again at lvl 2, and it's suddenly dumber than rocks

By far the #1 Chess app on the Play Store. My only complaint is that it doesn't have an optional setting to "confirm / submit move" in multiplayer matches, especially with how easy it is to accidentally tap the wrong square. Other than that, flawless application. Also, PLEASE offer a paid, ad-free version!

The 3d mode is cool but it lacks features such as best move riddles explanation for moves and most of all the tutor is just showing peaces and it would have been better if he gave feedback and not just show you things you don't understand...

Good app to play chess but ads are so annoying. I understand that they have to rely on the ads but those ads are 30-40 seconds long and sometimes even longer. And sometimes you have to close the app to get rid of them. It is absolutely a shitshow. I wouldn't mind a few seconds ad but longer ones are the reason for 1 star.

Gameplay is good but the ads are crazy over the top lately. You can't close the ads either without a series of various taps and countdowns, forcing you to interact with them. If you happen to miss the tiny x after all that it opens a web page and crashes the app also! there is a constant ad playing during gameplay, not good for chess!

Pretty good, but makes up its own rules up. The position needs to repeat itself three times for a draw. And the draw needs to be actually claimed !!
