Much better than the other public transportation apps that I have tried. The user interface is well organized. Other apps only show one possible itinerary. This app shows also the next departures or departures that are further in the future. Very useful if you check the route on the way. Also indicates is trains are cancelled. Very useful if there's a strike.
This is the ONLY transit app you need on your phone (if your city exists in the data but they're working hard to bring more and more cities in). It's super duper easy to use, it has live traffic updates and all the bus, train, tram, bird times in real time as well as all the maps. It's fantastic, I would 10/10 recommend (in fact I've already told everyone I know about it). If you're hesitating, download it now!
I've been using it for years and it's a great app to have multiple cities in one place. The timings and prices are more accurate than Google Maps hence its usually the first app I go to, but there were a few times where the app bugs or shows no results so I can't fully rely on it (hence the 4 stars). I think some cities have less problem than others.
Used it in London. Now Paris. It sure shows more data than Google Maps. Useless but cute things like calories spent if walking is chosen. Otherwise, the results are identical. Initial review: Quite useful in the big city, useless outside of it. Also, quite strange, the position on the virtual map is always more vague on the same device as on Google maps. I was quite often one street away and had to switch to Google. The only plus over Google is the estimated fare cost. Everything else is below.
App is great, except 1 thing - interface. Sometimes setting a place where you want to go is so so complicated! - app constantly jumps around. When I set a place where FROM I want to go - it always jumps to the FINISH point. What is the purpose of that? I want to go THERE, not FROM THERE. And there so many such "optimizations" that sometimes it's easier to use Google maps that city mapper.( basically most of the times) Hire a new UX specialist plz, it worth it.
For years I have been using it and now its just not working as expected. The saved stops preview shows all the departures, you click to view the full list of stops and they are not all there anymore. If you cant depend on the app to see all the stops for your commute you move onto one that shows them!
best source for directions on mobile. Is never wrong, doesn't try to do things you don't need, like street view, and has an attractive, well designed interface that feels independent and unique and free of bias. Switch now, discover how awesome it is. I've been using it for a decade.
I normally do not write reviews, but I needed to give them support. Having lived in Montreal and Vancouver, I have tried a handful of apps to help me navigate the cities' public transit. There is nothing that comes close to what Citymapper has built. Very easy to know where to get off, and where to exit (where some metro/SkyTrain stations have more than one exit on either side of the street or different streets all together). Give them a try.
Almost perfect. I just wish that for the walking instructions I could fix the map with North up. It makes it much easier for me to figure out my way since the phone's compass is often inaccurate. Right now I need to switch to Google Maps for walking directions just because of this.
I like this app and have referred it to others. Why? The company tries. I ran for a subway ride & it hadn't arrive with the app changing the status, to not arriving for another 15 munutes (-1 star). Maybe MTA dropped a train? Dont know (a Sunday). Love seeing the available interaction options. With options & time schedules, I'm able to make more informed decissions. Citimapper's a good wingman on average & better then others I've tried. Update: GPS app position issues, even after reinstallation.
If you actually want the best possible routes just use Google Maps. This app was significantly better before 2020. Not sure what happened to the routing but since these "premium" options came out the quality of the directions on public transport has significantly worsened. The app will refuse to change your route around a delay, and generally only seems to offer suboptimal routes - the best routes that used to be publicly available a few years ago are probably locked behind a paywall now.
Otherwise seems like a good app, but the main reason I tried this was because the screenshots here show a "Mopeds" transport option. However that isn't actually available. I ride a Vespa that can't go over 45km/h, so I'm looking for a navigation app where you could discard roads over some set speed limit. I was hoping this could be it but apparently not. Also, it seems you can't change the transport mode on the wearos watch app. Why?
I've used this app mostly while traveling on public transportation in NYC and I love it! The alerts for when your train stop is coming are genius and the expected arrival times and notifications on delays and the reasons for them are equallt helpful. The app is easy to understand and attractively designed.. Citymapper is much better than the MTA app for NYC. It's also more responsive than Google maps. I highly recommend Citymapper for using public transportation or walking while traveling.
Seems to have more issues recently parsing delays and changes in NYC. For example, the A train often will have some sort of issue but the displayed message won't include any text explaining what the change actually is, just something like "for service, take the D for these stations" without saying what stations are skipped.
This app stops working very frequently. Every now and then, the app gives the message No Results for journeys that I've been taking daily, with no disruptions in the commute or an update of the app pending. When it works it's good, but the situation is now getting extremely annoying.
I use the app everyday going to work. It's pretty accurate most of the time and I like when it tells me if there's a tube strike or disruption. However, I commute earlier than most as I'm a teacher, so I wish I could edit alert times for saved lines, instead of the bog standard 7-10am and 4-7pm or having them on all the time.
Rating for bike directions only. Selecting quiet bike directions takes me on some bike paths, very few. But also up the steepest hill in my neighborhood (not a bike road), and across extremely busy uncontrolled intersections. Just as bad as Google maps bike directions. I really don't know why a mapping program can't give you bike directions in this day and age.
This app was amazing because one of my school friends told me how to navigate my way around the app. Yes there is trainline and stagecoach and of course Google maps but this app is simply the best!! Regardless, to make it fair, stagecoach would be for the nearest and quickest busses, trainline could be for the nearest and quickest trains, maps for attractions and tourist destinations and great places to explore and for citymapper for all the above. BEST APP EVER!!!
Superb, used the app all weekend in New York (Pixel 2xl running the latest version of Android 10). I can't recommend it highly enough, got me around the city and never failed, the interface is excellent and the station reminders and live updated tile on the lock screen are a nice touch. A must have app in any city, and the best app I've used this year. Edit: has also been my go-to app in London and Paris. Still superb.
Brilliant app, I'd never been on the tube in London so used this app just typed in where we wanted to go and it gave me all different options of getting there. Took the tube gives you the walking direction to the station 1st from say Waterloo Station to South Kensington, shows you eastbound 1st to Westminster then southbound to Kensington, how many stops in between and how long it takes, shows problems on route if any, great for a newbie to london
Good interface and integration with local public transport companies, but the app has too few customization options and the ..minutes format is utterly confusing. Edit: The app does not seem to work at all when crossing states. Made me walk 20 minutes to a stop where 1. The second bus didn't drive (line 3) and 2. The estimated time until my next stop was of by 50 minutes (9 minutes in the app instead of 1 hour in reality). The ride was between Mainz (Rheinland-Pfalz) and Wiesbaden (Hessen).
This is a very good navigational app. Almost perfect for those morning commutes or city breaks in Berlin, Lisbon, NYC etc. The only reason I'm not giving citymapper 5* is because it only offers me 1 bus route to work, whereas Google maps offers me 2 direct routes. I don't know why Citymapper ignores London's 205 route.
Best app ever. Who ever designed it is an artist! Tells you everything from the distance and time to calories to prices of each journey. I love this app. I can find bike routes and walking routes that are shown clearly, very easy to read and to use the app. Can't believe I didn't know about it sooner! Thank-you for making life easier👏🥀
Can't leave home without this app! it has been my defacto guide to getting around. v dependable on bus times n travelling around to places. Can compare travelling time between diff modes of getting to destinations. I can go places without fear of getting lost, n getting there in the preferred way.
Provides for suboptimal routes, unless one pays for the "Turbo" service. Unreliable with the hours of buses and trains. Does not inform of diversions or temporarily closed bus stations. In other words, it fails you precisely when you more need it.
Amazing app. Used it in London and Paris. Never had any issues. Love how it gives train times, delays, and even best section to be on the train for quick exits or transfers (i.e. front, middle, back). Highly recommend this app! Will use continuously throughout my future travels.
Excellent app for commuting. Gives very accurate and detailed steps for your journey. The GPS can be choppy in dense urban centers, but the quality directions make up for it. No app is perfect but this one comes very close.
Excellent app. I would also like to commend first efforts to improve people's safety late at night by suggesting better lit paths. Another late-night feature that would be helpful & easy to implement, namely adding the option of hiding the address saved as "home". It does happen that people look over at other people's phones and I would feel better not feeling like they immediately know where I live when I'm opening the app to look where to change or which bus to take. Would love this addition!
