I was excited when the recent update became available because I assumed much-needed improvements had finally been made only to be let down and very frustrated. [1] Increasing or decreasing the volume no longer simultaneously displays the changing volume level on the corresponding video/TV screen, and I have extensively searched through all AVR, as well as TV, settings menus. [2] Adjustments to subwoofer dB levels is no longer effective; the 'sound' of the audio fails to change at all.
App use to work fantastic. The app use to let me control the audio level of the surround back L/T speakers. It doesn't even show up as an option any more. Even I'm multi channel stereo mode. All the speakers are lit up green and audio is coming through them. But, I cannot control the level. This is the same on a Kyocera phone and a Samsung Galaxy 22. I have hard closes the ally. Force stopped the app. Power cycled the phones and the Denon receiver.
Recently installed for S760H. Works as expected on my Android phone (recent cheap up to date model). I use root to filter traffic but I experience no issues. I am somewhat surprised of the posted negative reviews as it seems to work without noticeable issues. In other words, check your device and settings when you encounter issues as it can work just fine 😊
Bluetooth doesn't work, I mean Bluetooth! Around for more than 10 years or so... It's a bloody joke. Overly complicated, lacking in integration, buggy, unresponsive and a lot more/less. Networked Hi-fi equipment needs an app that works otherwise it's not networked. So last century...
Consistently works with s750, but general feel of the app is sluggish and damn does it eat battery when its in the background. I'm guessing an Android Service is being utilized? I'm hopeful optimizations can be made. The spinner that shows anytime you go to the main page seems unnecessary. Shouldnt it only load when theres a change from the avr detected? Going to app settings without changing anything in the app or on the physical avr and then hitting back to see that long spinner feels off
While I had so much faith in this product when I bought it 2 years ago, unfortunately it seems that the application responsiveness is so fragmented broken and unreliable that it's a shame these products wind up becoming more of a nuisance and complicating our lives more than actually adding something positive and productive. Plus what's up with the on-screen controls lacking so much? Wow, so i only get minimal functions like mute and volume controls.. big deal! If you can get it to connect...
This app is very weak. Hardly any functionality. I am running the AVR-X6700H, a $3000 A/V receiver and this app pales in comparison with the app that I had with my Pioneer Elite. First of all, I have to restart the app 3+ times every time I tap ffrom a device because it can't find the receiver. On the 3rd or 4th try, it usually finds it. And, I have the best internet config that Xfinity has to offer. Plus, my router is right near the receiver. This app is total garbage! Don't waste your time.
It used to work fine, but now all of a sudden when you select an option from the Setup Menu, the font of the text label becomes very small and unreadable. Tried solving by uninstalling and reinstalling with no success. Not even upgrading to Android 12 solved it. Just garbage.
Useless app with anachronistic name. Super slow and unreliable. Takes 2-3 minutes to change any setting on my AVR-X2700H (over my super speedy wifi network), and the change may or may not be successful after the wait. Much quicker to change any setting manually or using the remote, even if you have to walk across the house to do it. Come on Denon, you can do better.
Stopped working this month, Feb. 2022. Looks like an updated version was released on Feb. 8, 2022, maybe this broke the app on my Samsung S10 phone. Had been working for over 2 years but now just spins when trying to load. I have the receiver in a remote and locked area so if the phone app doesn't work then the receiver is useless to me. Contacted Denon support and they first assumed it was my fault, ie.. restart your router, update the firmware, reload the app. How about they fix the app!
Mostly useless: several crashes every day, lags, sometimes cannot find the AVR. App has no idea about the current status of the zones hence cannot turn them on or off. When I begin to play something on zone2, it switches the main zone on too to play the same song. Complete joke. Shame a brand like Denon can afford a rubbish app like this. I had a Denon previously with a similarly useless app and clearly the newer model wasn't improved at all. Last Denon receiver for me for a while.
The app freezes within seconds of opening. Any key input takes 10-30 seconds to register and many times will result in "App Not Responding" feedback. The very thing I bought it for (dual zone) is basically useless, and this is frustrating considering that I bought a premium product AVR-X3700H. The App software is updated and using Eero-6 Pro for wifi. I'm technically savvy, but hindered by a non-working app interface.
The only worse controller I have used is from Pyle. Not quite as useless so before returning I'll give another week or two. I realy don't wish to have to learn a new skill and complication of placing stations into pre settings. It should be easy! The remote on my phone simply doesn't work. I was hoping for much better. When I go into helo - Denon is simply trying to sell me stuff when the origional is beyond my ability to operate. Stupid marketing!
Runs in background for no reason, wasting battery life. Outdated UI and no Android widgets. Only thing missing is deceptive ads.
Now on Android 12 and the app is still limping along. It so needs updating, the wifi connection to the amp uses too much battery when running in background. It hasn't supported a clean Android exit from the app since Android 9. I can just plug magine someone at denon saying we need a mobile app, and thinking once it was shipped it would never need updating again.
App still doesn't work, April firmware for my AVR-3700H seemed to break it and the latest today hasn't fixed it. Really poor app experience so far with Denon, at least the AVR itself is making up for that!
Have had Yamaha RX730 for over 10 years until the receiver died. Have changed to the Denon avr x2700H and am very happy, except that the Denon app is not on the same level with the Yamaha. Disappointing Denon.
Horrible. Freezes slow as heck! I don't even bother opening the app anymore.
Having S960H high-end and new receiver, I expected a simple and smooth phone control. This application, while having bad UI and terrible responsiveness, at least used to work till the last update. Now it can't find the receiver most of the time.
Used to actually work but now does not. App just crashes and when I try to report the issues, my device isn't listed, despite being supported by this app. So here is my feedback. S960h is a great receiver but you need to actively support your devices firmware and applications as well Bought denon since my last one lasted for 16 yrs but was dated and needed to be replaced to support new tech... best unit I have ever had. This s960h works well too but please provide support
X6400h owner with S20Ultra This app has consistently crashed, frozen, and bogged down resources on my last 4 flagship phones. If left running it is a battery killing nightmare. Functionality is not intuitive. The only positive is the amount of AVR control options included. When you spend big $... you expect it to come well equipped and just work. I understand Android has thousands of phones, but my poor experience is on Samsung's last 4 flagships.. Look at the reviews....
Just quit working with my avr6300 with this most recent update. I've had this app for years & always worked great. please fix this 🙏
App constantly freezes and crashes. It's completely useless!
It does the job and I use it sometimes to change some settings. However be careful to force close the app. Otherwise the app keeps running in the background and thus draining your battery.
The application cannot find the device avr x2700h. Mostly rolling for a minutes to give error. Im really disappointed ,since these kind of simple errors are not affordable anymore. Just please release an update for this bug.
Why there is no way to select sound mode from the app, like there is in the Heos app. Also this action is unavailable from the receiver itself. I am not taking about quick select, but plain sound mode change (stereo/direct / pure.... Etc)
It is too slow to start. Sometimes it doesn't even find the AVR, that has a static IP and on the same wifi it connected last. If I really need the denon remote functions, it is faster to search for the real remote in the room. If I only need to se the volume it is faster to open the remote app of the sound source like the TV or PC. So most of the time I use this app, I see the loading screen... maybe Denon should be able to do a better app.
