The app would be useful if the BT connection was not forced as an audio device. I like the interface, and using my phone as a volume and source control for the receiver would be amazing IF there was an option to connect to the receiver NOT as an audio device so I can have sound (separately) on both my phone and the receiver. Unless that is changed I will not use nor will I recommend this app to anyone else.
The issue is every time you open the app you have to give permission to turn the Bluetooth on and then regardless of the source you are in, it switches to Bluetooth! It is very annoying because im watching a movie on Blu-ray and want to lower the volume only but it changes the channel to Bluetooth first and i have to select the Blu-ray again and lower the volume! This whole process is very inconvenient and takes around 2min while the movie is being played in the background.
BT is inconsistent - connected from phone via BT to device. Playing music as expected. Open app to change volume on device. App disconnects BT for audio and then tells me BT connection failed. Huh? Developers need to update the app accordingly. Just discovered that when the app asks to turn BT on, and you click cancel, it turns it off. That doesn't make any sense. As one reviewer commented, I don't need to be asked about BT being on. App needs some common sense.
Excellent. I discovered Demon has a web server, I think at port 8880 ands it's got very nice graphics unlike one of the ,4 you must download for Denon. I found the web page much easier to set up the demon. All laid out as one would expect. But if you change its main title you loose the entire page. It's as if the web server changes port numbers (there are 64,000 different ports) like addresses to 64,000 homes. Once it changes you'd need a port finder and I have yet to run across one. They were
Downloaded awhile ago to phone and then forgot about it.... Started using today because we have been having issues with our reg. remote. It really appears to work well you can easily see your vol. number and can access the diff. things hooked up to play the audio from and access the manual thru. it also... Our Denon front viewing is so small we can't see what our vol. is and having issues with remote makes it more difficult so this is a great option without pur. Of Universal remote... :)
The only thing I can do is play music via Bluetooth and control the volume. Other features are grayed out. Absolutely useless. What am I missing, Denon? I was trying to control my AVR-540BT with Samsung Galaxy 21+. This app has not been updated since 2018 will not work with new equipment. Don't waste your time with this app
The app does not work after pairing via Bluetooth. When launching the app it displays a message stating that the app is meant for an older version of Android and that there are no updates available.
As far as I can tell, this app is pointless. This app is essentially like the physical remote that comes with the Denon devices, plus a built-in music player. You can't do anything that you couldn't already do without it. I'll never understand why a manufacturer builds in extra features like this that are basically useless. Download if you lost your remote, but otherwise, ignore it.
Random disconnects... can't even get through 15 minutes of music without a sudden disconnect. And, no, it's not my phone. It has happened on 4 different phones and 2 tablets. Come on, update this thing. I paid handsomely for the receiver...
Works well but because most phones close background apps, everytime i bring the app up, i have to reconnect. That's not so annoying, but what is super annoying is that when i reconnect, it defaults to "bluetooth" input which disrupts my movie! PLEASE FIX!
Paired my phone and started streaming music right away which was a great experience to start. Then I installed this app and as soon as I opened it, it stopped my music. Fails basic usability as a remote
App is horrible ! A simple task of bluetooth connection is obviously more than Denon is capable of handling. Returning receiver for a Yamaha, that app functions and more than a basic remote!
I bought the amplifier because of its Bluetooth / app feature but that was a mistake. The app is far from good and fast enough to replace the real remote. Look elsewhere.
Bottom line is: no app is requited to pair BT devices. Denon just thought it had to make one and force a bad experience on users. Why the hell would I want to even play/search my music via a new interface?
Awful app, defaults to bluetooth input and you cant change it, keeps disconnecting and then when you connect again changes input to bluetooth, useless app, going to delete app and try something else.
I was downloading this app because I need a remote control for the Denon receiver that I just purchased because it did not come with a remote control however to Bluetooth connect my phone to the device I have to have the remote control that doesn't make any sense really disappointed
The App worked fine the first day and didn’t work after. It is very unreliable. Crashes consistently.
Excellent app! Never had any issues with it. It worked flawlessly. Any bad reviews are most likely attributed to user error.
Get an IR hub instead. This remote hardly works, has no features, and almost ruined my speakers because it automatically sets the volume to 100%.
Bluetooth constantly drops. You have to reconnect where it asks to turn on Bluetooth every single time. Very frustrating
Disconnects all the time, worst user experience ever. Unfortunately there are no other apps that can connect to these machines 😡
Works fine but disconnects randomly if I'm away from the device it's using. This is frustrating as I use it to play youtubemusic playlists.
Terrible app. Same issue as others app doesn't connect and when you reopen app it changes to Bluetooth and you lose what you were playing
How i wish can rate this app "0". Keep disconnect the bluetooth. Disconnected more than 8 times within a 2 min trailer while watching YouTube
Random disconnects while still within range. Can't adjust speaker levels or access setup menus like the remote.
Does exactly what it is supposed to do. Remote checking for updates of device firmware and an ability to then install this firmware would have been nice though
Doesn't let you choose where your music is stored, doesn't let you play music from streaming services like Spotify through your receiver (only files saved locally on your phone,) and all the tools for using it as a remote are greyed out and nonfunctional without any explanation, you can literally ONLY play music that's saved to your phone and that's it. Literally just want to use my phone as a remote, absolutely pointless app.
