Monumentally unreliable... Randomly connects. Randomly drops out and locks up. Keeps forgetting the address or presents "cant find it" messages, whilst at the same time listing other devices on the network that are not from Denon. Very slow and clunky interface with plenty of lag between changes. If you're desperate to control your Denon then this is (just) ok. Better control is enabled using the web-based interface from a PC or laptop, by entering the ip address into a browser.
Not working with Note 8 at all. Severely disappointed, had hoped it would work better than before, though it kept crashing before too. Wished we had any possibility to control our Ceol Picolo. All we can do is switch on, control volume. stops after one song. Internet radio only the pre-set sender. Not what we got the Ceol for in the beginning. I guess we would rather go for Bose next time!!
I found that the receiver (X1200) has to be tuned of the power switch at least 1x month for wifi and bluetooth to work properly. When I cannot connect with mobile wifi app, or cannot connect with bluetooth, or my shortcuts for the Internet radio stations dont work, I just unplug it for 10 seconds. After that everything works. One thing I am really missing in the app is the Sleep timer for receiver. Also I agree with comment about too much space wasted. It should be more compact.
Maybe it will connect maybe it won't. The app works as about as good as the receiver. They have alot of features but falls short in connectivity. Most of the time the app won't load the receiver or you can't select pandora stations.my next receiver will not be a demo. Due to them not stepping into the 21st century with their products.
I have a 2015 Denon AVR-S910W which wasn't on the list but I thought I'd try anyway. Once it loaded, it found my Denon receiver and Samsung TV instantly! We can control the tv and main zone speakers and the zone 2 kitchen speakers. So far only using basic functions but it does exactly what we were looking for. Now I don't need to grab the remote from the family room to play my music. I may edit my rating as we continue to use the app.
Constantly loses connection to my receiver or can't find it when I launch the app (AVR-1913). When you enter an FM station it accepts the value but doesn't tune to that station. This app feels like the forgotten sibling that is not getting attention anymore. Maybe that's acceptable since my receiver is so old but just want the ability to control my zone 2 from the deck... Basic controls can't even be executed.
When it connects with a receiver it is quite useful, if ugly app. But don't hold your breath for it. 99 out of 100 times you will be looking at"searching for a device" prompt with no result. In effect it's just an useless frustrating garbage not a useful tool. Shame of Denon for this level of support
For me the app works great. Connects to my Denon AVR-X2100W without problems. What I find frustrating is that I can't select a default device in the app. Every time I open the app I have to select devices to see a list of the linked Denon receivers. My list contains _one_ device, as I assume is the case for 99.9% of the users. I select the device, and then I can use the application to control my Denon.
Once the app was linked to.the av receiver it worked ok, could change radio stations, volume etc. I could never suss out some of the other options. Anyway, very frequently the App would lose the connection to the receiver and it does not auto reconnect, meaning you need re-enter the Wifi code to the amp again...pain in the a$$! Get it sorted out
Archaic and generally useless. The AVR-X3000 I own has an interface reminiscent of MSDos......Trying to access and play from DNLA sources takes MINUTES not seconds as it does with my Yamaha in another room. The app regularly crashes when asked to do anything other than volume or mode. I suggest the root cause lies in the inadequate hardware in the receiver to handle the IP connection. My experience means I will not purchase another Denon product until this issue is fixed. Streaming is an essential part of any A/V setup.
This app had been rock solid for me for a long time. Now it is having issues with Pandora station lists, it keeps scrolling and you can never select a station to play.
This app is sorely in need of an update. The functionality is good and for the most part it works, but it's so slow and clunky to use. I honestly regret not buying a Yamaha receiver - Yamaha doesn't leave users of older hardware out in the cold when it comes to software.
App no longer works on AT&T Samsung S9 with latest OS updates. It opens on the settings screen, but no longer detects the AVR (X1000, in this case). Manually typing in IP address does nothing. I've confirmed other unofficial remote apps work, so is not the receiver or my network.
What a disgrace for Denon to release something as bad as this. Doesn't detect the receiver most of the time and crashes often when it does, shameful that 3rd party apps work better. It's also the main reason I'll be buying another brand when i upgrade my system.
works fine when the receiver is on the same subnet but won't seem to connect otherwise (e.g. over a VPN tunnel). there's an option to enter the IP manually but apparently someone writing the app went out of their way to restrict the cases in which it can be used
Awkward to use. Always starts up on a non-intuitive screen that expects you to select a device instead of remembering the device last used. Doesn't help that the firmware on my Denon AVR-X4000 regularly stops working and requiring a power cycle to recover.
DO NO USE! THIS APP IS A NIGHTMARE If I could give it 0 stars, I would. Painfully slow and jumpy to navigate, utterly inconsistent, and so prone to crashing that it's been stuck playing random pandora stations anytime I turn on my home theater.
Very rarely connects to my AVR-S900W. Seriously, it has a near-zero percent chance of working the first time I try. About one in 20 times, my receiver will show up as a device in the app after letting the app sit idle "searching" for several minutes.
Poor UI and could do so much more like cast music to the amp (like other apps allow you to). Also stays running in the background. In saying all that it does do what it says it will.
The app was working ok for 2 months. I kinda like the 80s vibe even though functionality is primitive. Considering how raw and basic the Denon app is im baffled as to why this app now can't find my receiver X4000; yet it still can identify my LG CX tv?. What is even more hilarious is that other apps such as mconnect, That i use for streaming music, phone via wifi to the Denon, still work fine. My Mconnect app has no problem finding my Denon. DENON READ THE REVIEWS AND FIX THE BLOOD APP
waited nearly 4 years for this app to be updated and it still can't remember a last used or default device for my 2x f109's. each time i must tap settings and one of my two devices. both are static ip. does anyone have a jellybean phone for sale... because 2015's the last time this app worked... 30 1 20: still pure garbage as per above. 11 4 20: nothing at all changed. still pure trash. avoid denon/marantz if you like music because this is *dire*
Although I have the current flagship receiver (AVR X8500H) as of 2020 this app could not be connected to that receiver and I had to use the AVR 2016 app. When I installed the receiver I have used a cord to connect it to the network, when it was installed it hooked up to the network with a DHCP connection, I have changed that to a static IP but that doesn't do anything. It sees my TV but not the receiver even when I type in the IP address!
Useless app. Half the time the Receiver is not visible in the app. When it is visible it keeps randomly moving the favorite Internet radio stations up and down, so that picking one becomes a lucky draw.
The app used to be good - not great, but just good. Now it hardly ever finds either of my recievers. Hate to say it, but I tend to use my older Onkyo because that app works better. I used to be a huge Denon fan, but sadly I can't say I'd ever buy another just based off of this sort of app and the lack of pride they have taken in it...
Good luck, it's a garbage app. Doesn't work, doesn't even show promise if working. Wanted to be able to sit garden, zone 2 speakers and control volume through app. No way possible.
This app used to work now it just crashes on Android 10. Still runs on older version, but not very well. It hasn't been updated since 2016. Not worth the download
I've had 4 Denon receivers in my house since 2010, ranging from entry level to $3k+ receivers. This app is the final straw in me changing out all of my receivers in the house. It's a joke! It simply does not work, it has a mind of it's own when to connect and when to go into demo mode. What a shame that Denon thinks apps are unnecessary and does not provide support or updates. Everything has an app now! Hope something changes in the future in the mean time, I've given up and so have many others.
