Pretty good app to use. Unfortunately, the compass uses the phones internal compass which can be messed around with if you are near large magnetic objects. Will not always point true north for this reason. Also, having difficulty following the file naming convention. Would be nice if I could adjust a setting for how I want the file saved (Date, Lat+Long, series number).
very Useful. Could you please also add an option to show or hide specific data. it would be nice to select which information is displayed on the photo and that some fotos are not flooded with the information which is not required. an optional small compass will also be helpful.
I know it's borderline extortion but I'll give 5 stars when they come out with the Pro version. Perhaps different color options for the reticle as the white coloring tends to get lost in the background of a bright day in the field. Otherwise, please continue to upgrade & support this product. It's perfect for my work usage and I haven't found a similar solution. Keep up the great work!
Dioptra is working for me again! It didn't work when I installed it recently on this new phone, but it's working now. I use it to collect azimuth and elevation information when doing astrophotography on my DSLR. It is an easy way to check predictions of websites (I've yet to find a discrepancy), or just for when I'm curious.
Great concept but needs more works to make it useful. 1. GPS is slow to load when other apps using GPS have obtained coordinate already. 2. Photo ratio is limited to 4:3. 3. Limited to still photo only, no video function. Will be happy to pay for this app if improved. Added 1 star for developer's good reply. Have high expectation on this app. I think soon it will be an app that I can't do without.
Overall very pleased with it... until today. It seems to be taking photos, but not storing them, at least not on my phone. This is the first time I've used it since a recent phone software update. ***EDIT*** 24 hours later and 16 photos taken yesterday appear on my phone. Weird...
Works well for the most part but the inability to pick focus points and exposure or use all the cameras is limiting. If your camera was focused close and you open this app the camera won't auto focus. You have to go back to your main camera focus on what you want and then switch back to this app.
Hi. Looks impressive. Not working by me. I assume cep distance is distance to the object and that you must aim the crosshair at the feet of the object. The cep distance is then totally erratic. Ofcourse, if you are using triangulation to determine that distance, you should allow altitude adjustment.
Samsung galaxy s6. Camera in focus. Seems accurate enough for my uses which mainly include assessing average slope angle for avalanche route finding decisions in the backcountry. Have not tried every single feature or verified readings with another instrument. Thank you developers!
The bearing display is completely wrong compared to the azimuth display. The app must be using a buggy formula to convert azimuth to bearing. It has the bearing Southeasterly and Northwesterly readouts backwards (the degrees move in the wrong direction) Hasn't been updated in almost 2 years so I doubt it will be fixed.
Would be great if the compass would work consistently. I've tried re-installing the app, restarting my phone, etc. Works some times but mostly doesn't work which means the photos are useless for my reports.
Great. Looking forward to the pro version, definitely worth paying for. Hope it will have maidenhead grid system as option as well as some control over where extra info is shown, instead of just everything on the top left. Great job.
While useful, the interface with Google Pixel 3 does not allow for autofocus. Seems to be fixed at a point +/- 1m away. Not so good for taking pictures beyond that distance.
I don't know how many stars to give it, I have only used it a short time, I have not tried all the options, but I can say it installs correctly and easily and operates smoothly on this Pixel 4 XL.
I like all the customization I can do to get the information I need on screen. I only have one problem. Sometimes the picture won't save/I can't find it in my files or gallery. Hopefully there's an easy fix for this.
Loved this app years ago. Sorry to see it's dropped out of support. Took a few pics and had difficulty finding them, but found them in the"Internal Storage/Dioptra" folder. Would give 5 stars if it was updated.
Like others with Pixel 3XL, the camera will not focus on anything more than a few inches away. It becomes blurry and the app provides no way to manually focus it. Unfortunately useless.
So very close to what I need! The thin, faint reticle is impossible to see in bright sunlight, though, making it useless for my intended purpose.
I like it. Comes in handy at times. And a lot of info shows up on the photo if you want it to. If it's not broke, don't fix it.🙂
The application would be better if it would do a comparison of images by matching 2nd shot with matching position to see if movement has been done! Oh No, Must Be An Earthquake, Not A Snoop!
Unfortunately I am having the same problem as others in that my Galaxy Note 8 camera will not focus beyond a few inches. Otherwise on first seems like it could be useful app. Need to fix the focus issue.
Lovely app, but I can't find the images taken, and the pitch indicator is 1 degree off on my phone which there is no calibration for.
It's useful until you need to have accurate compass readings , then it just stays pointed in one direction.
Interesting and useful tool. Unfortunately, the autofocus of my camera (Nexus 6P) stopped working with his app, this defeats the purpose of this app a little bit. Otherwise, five stars.
This works very well, except one thing could be fixed, please. The readings need an adjustable damping factor to slow down the display so that it is somewhat readable. This is important. As it is, it becomes exhausting to try to take imperical data. Even with taking pictures, it is tedious.
