Love the idea of the app. It's just horrible. On my Galaxy S10+, it dosent usually go more than 20 mins while watching a recorded movie with out it pausing and then it goes back to a part you have already watched and sometimes it takes you back to the beginning of the movie. Very frustrating. Can whatch 40 min on YouTube, or Prime with no issues. So not my wifi.
Update, dual/full screen works now. However the channel icons/numbers will not show on the guide. Loved it until the July update. The app no longer goes full screen on Surface Duo. It just goes to a blank screen. Emailed the developer weeks ago and no reply. Aug update still does not fix the issue above and still no response. I am not the only one with this problem.
Aweful!! Some recorded shows don't start at the beginning of the the allotted slot, so 20 mins. of that slot plays the previous show and the episode requested is incomplete. Now I must search other TV apps to watch the whole show. The long commercial breaks don't occur at the same time as the the actual commercials; annoying! Too often, a message and black screen , relays info that there's a problem and contact "us" ! The GUIDE doesn't update. Cost=$$$$$ There's lots more...!
I’m very disappointed with Directv Stream. I was told it would work on both tvs, both iPads, my phone, and it only partially works on the tv with the box connected. I was also told we could watch the Cincinnati Reds games thru Bally sports with the level of programming we have. Wrong again. Although everything looks right when we try to watch we get an error message saying we aren’t authorized to watch it. So very frustrating. So far the customer service chat as well as phone calls to customer service have been a total waste of time. Nothing changed. It’s still not working. I drive out to our local AT&T branch and they went over everything and told me it was all working. When I got home and turned on the tv we had the same situation as before. I really don’t know where to go or what to do to get the service working.
It's hard to believe that a streaming app has such a difficult time in this era? It will not stream to my phone, as the phone just goes blank and has sound but no picture. The picture is nothing more than a garbled mess that is unidentifiable as to what I am watching. I can stream with all other apps, but not DirecTV stream? What is going on? I am in the trial period and am ready to cancel !
I have not had any of the problems I have read that others have had with this app. This is a wonderful option for people who want to cut the cord. My only problem is the app will go to sleep if you are on the same channel for 4 hours and there's no way to turn it off on the app. Apparently there's an option to override that with the box but getting a box is defeating the purpose of the app. Please update app with the option to turn off power saver.
Their representatives don't know what they're talking about and have misled me time and time again about the services I'm supposed to get versus what I do get in reality. Takes forever to load and buffers a lot and I have over 1G of internet service. They don't give you any easy way to record the programs that you want to record unless you use their equipment as their app does not work I'm very many Smart TVs by itself. I'm currently looking for a better provider and will probably use YouTube in
One of the worst show streaming apps I've ever had the displeasure of using. Glitchy annoying ui that always has to have something autoplaying in the bottom right. Unhelpful search bar that doesn't justify why certain games can only be watched hours after they were live. And overall just frustrating experience setting the whole thing up. Seriously if you have another method to watch your favorite shows/sports take that instead.
Using a Samsung Galaxy Tab S6 with latest updates. This installs and loads channels however all channels show an error message. I've tried live shows, shows recorded on the dvr and on demand which result in all showing the same error message. All my other apps on this tablet and other devices work except for this app. I've already send DirecTV Stream a ticket well over a month ago but by no suprise no answer or reply.
This app is garbage. Almost every time a commercial starts the sound cuts out. I'm using a firecube. I have to change the channel and then come back to the program I want to watch. I will be canceling the service and going back to youtube tv. Don't use it.
Interface is really slow. Not easy to navigate. Very slow response. When it works, this service is ok. They are constantly increasing the price but not improving the service. If nothing changes soon, I will definitely change services.
It's a very good app, but I had audio probs using all roku devices. And hulu live, youtube tv,etc never have the problem. I dropped the service because of it. I do love the directv stream overall though on my TV. Bally regional sports is why I got it in the first place. I came back and got 2 att google directv stream devices for about $50 each , and have never had an audio problem since. I love directv stream. And now, they have given me unlimited DVR. Thanks Directv stream. 👍♥️
Update this app to properly work on tablets! It only opens in landscape. Then the play, pause, fast forward, and rewind are unresponsive. I have to force stop the app to end a show. Absolutely frustrating. Phone works fine, but I'd rather watch on a larger screen. Tablet is brand new so my technology is current. It really should not be this difficult!
Could you possibly update the app more often?!?!!! Every time you do, it's messed up! Crashes all the time. The new menu doesn't populate with info. Half of the channels are blank. I'm using it on Firestick and FireTv Cube. I'm guessing that's the most popular way people use it. Not like you need to make sure it works on that!!!!! Maybe spend less time developing new app versions, and make sure the current one works!
I previously reviewed this as an awful app - but they have made significant progress. You can now record by team, the DVR, live rew/ff, etc is getting better. The UI is still a little clunky on some of the streaming devices I use
I'm sorry I left my cable and went to direct. I would never tell anyone to do it. Half the Time it is frozen for uploading and then having to reboot after loosing the internet. Now I can't find what's on next week on certain channels as I like to record certain programs. It's terrible. I'm handicapped and when you call for help, you are then told that no help is available as they don't have technicians. I wish I still had uverse..
Garbage. Error 8013 stating I'm not a subscriber. I've been a subscriber for years. This has happened on every device except two streaming boxes from DirecTV. Can't watch anything on my phones or other devices so it's essentially useless paying $169/month
I switched over to Att specifically for this service because I have Android TV in my home and I was told that all I'd have to do is got to the play store, download, log in and start streaming. Unfortunately they don't have the app compatible with my tvs. Please make one for sony bravias
Terrible service. The only reason I used this was to watch Lakers games. The ui is poor, the browser version doesn't work on Chrome, casting never works the first time, there is a limit to how much of a live show you can rewind, and perhaps worst of all - the app doesn't support drawing over other apps. That means no PiP when browsing away from the app. Now the playoffs are starting and I'll be moving to YouTube. Good luck trying to cancel because you have to chat with them to do so.
Its a great app if you love the fact that your phone service company is actually selling your private information to third parties. Things like your full name, email adresses and more. In one day a third party made 8 attempts to steal 24 different categories of my phones operating system. And I didnt even use the app. Shame on you AT&T.
Hundreds of $ to constantly update an app that never works properly, is unresponsive and has extremely slow loading, no options for information on programs listed what a waste of money! Sometimes it takes a double click to play or pause, sometimes it takes several seconds to respond, you never know whether you have hit the button or not, again for hundreds of dollars! Would ask for a refund if that was an option!
On my Samsung TV the app work will work and then it will go out temporarily (5 secs) then come back on every now and again. It doesn't sound like much of an issue but it gets very annoying when you are watching a football game and it does this every 20-25 mins. We found out it has to be the app on the TV because it does not do that with any other streaming app such as Netflix or Disney+. Also when switching over to the fire stick version it works with no issue.
App has always been slow and extremely buggy and the latest update now causes the stream to freeze every minute or so (no other app has this issue) across devices. Support channels simply tell you to "restart" or "reinstall" and seem to deny the almost unanimous and consistent feedback. Really too bad since the channel line up is solid (although at a high price point), but I would prefer fewer channels that actually work consistently over this ...
I will change my rating when the Company fixes the app. No longer works properly on GalaxyNote 10. Cannot use the "fit to screen" function, because all it does is re-start my programming, over and over and over and over and over and over and over...... can only watch a program on my phone at like 1/8th size and not full screen.
Why is this app not available on Android /Google TV devices? It isn't as if either the app or the devices or new. The app isn't available on LG Smart TV's either. It does work with Roku however. The real focus seems to be on hand-held devices, but the seems completely counter to it's purpose - unless of course you just want to rent these very expensive set-top boxes. Additionally, you should enable channel input capabilities in addition to guide scrolling, but yeah, this works on the set-top boxes only too right. Profiles! Why is there no way to create user profiles? this also seems to be basic, but it's still not available. It's been asked for and seemingly ignored. No responses in the user forums about this feature. I don't expect a response from the development team on these issues as ATT has no way to turn these features into a revenue stream. Pleasing their customers isn't required, but squeezing them for every nickel and dime is.
