UPDATE: The glitch seems to be taken care of, so I've updated my review. Credit where it's due for the fix! ORIGINAL REVIEW: Ok I appreciate having this app. I travel, so it validates having a Dish subscription. But I don't know what update just happened that made it functionally unusable. I'll go a minute of watching a show on demand and then it cuts to an ad and then back to the show and then it gives me an error message.
Completely unable to transfer shows to my device. When clicking "go to transfers" I get a pop-up saying it's "still initializing and to check back in several seconds" I've had the app open for at least 10 minutes, and it never completes. Why not just admit that the option is no longer available? You'd rather people waste data than offer the service.
Frustrations, Frustrations!! Every single day I am frustrated by this app. I try to watch on 2 different android devices. Both are updated OS & updated apps on fast connections. Frequently, only "some" channels are available in the guide, forcing me to either log out/in or uninstall/reinstall the app. I try to bump back 10 seconds it takes so long to buffer that it's still past what I want to rewatch. I hit the bump back a few times in order to go back 20/30 seconds, it "reconnects" on me.
PLEASE REMOVE ADS!!!!! I left a review already but I need to leave another one. Lately I've been having a lot of issues with trying to watch shows. Either the screen is completely black or green. If you turn on closed captions you can see the text but nothing else. If I pick another episode from the same season, it'll play fine. I try everything from restarting the app, to reinstalling it and yet nothing works right.
Since the update the app is worthless. It doesn't recognize functions. Rewind goes forward. Hitting forward crashes the show. Picture quality is poor for five minutes then flips to better. Try to fast forward again and grainy. It shouldn't take 3 minutes to fast forward 1 minute. Go back to original app because this is trash.
App has become useless. We have our Hopper 3 hardwired to our Xfinity 1 GB ethernet port with 600 mb down and 20 up, and still can get consistently good video. Also we can't pause or rewind live sports anymore. That's the main reason I use this app, but that feature has been stripped away. It makes YouTube TV look better and better each day.
I don't know what happened, but the app is worthless. This app used to be great. Now, I get a message that the firmware on my hopper needs to be updated. "Unable to load data". Called support. Unable to help me and referred my issue to programming. Could take several months! As soon as my contract is up, I'm dumping dish.
Was good, last 3 weeks can't watch or stream anywhere on any device. So flustrated. Called to troubleshoot and got the response was my internet. Told them didn't matter where I was. Speed test was over 100mb/s, no latency or jitter. Then they blamed my device. I was trying on 3 different devices on 2 different internet connections. Uninstaller several times. About done with Dish, ability to stream was a big plus to add to hopper. Not worth the cost when can't stream.
The app has been awful since it has been updated on both my Chromecast and phone. It glitches, stalls, and freezes. The DVR format is not user friendly and that is what freezes the most. I'd avoid as much as possible.
Don't bother writing a complaint! All you'll get is a,"oh we're so sorry things are bad thank you for telling us" response. The problems with this app have been going on since the update in 2020. If they had ever any intentions of fixing anything they would have already have done it! My suggestion is to go to YouTube TV, or do what I'm doing. Just canceling Dish Network entirely from your home and go to any other provider. The price of dish Network alone is already more expensive than it's worth
Feedback button gives invisible characters on the screen. Restore the Prime Time DVR delete function from the previous version, it allowed deleting multiple episodes rather than the new one at a time with an are you sure confirmation. 5/2022 The confirmation requirement has gotten worse not better.
I love the ability to record from my phone, watch from my phone or iPad, and the app is very user friendly. Dish is soooo much better than my previous TV provider.
5/16, 4/24,4/10, 2/16, 1/23, 1/13, 12/15, 11/19, 11/8, 10/22... Will it ever work again? ALWAYS says license update required please connect to the internet for updating the license for transferred content. Emailed and worked with support to find out it is a known issue, new software to fix it hopefully soon, but for now still not functional.
The app. Overall is prity good...But,it will cut in and out sometimes,not too bad I can put up with that. What bothers me most is it will not show my up grated Stars and Stripe channels. Is there a reason for that.Be most appreciated it this was resolved as there my favorites. But a good app.
I'm usually easy to please and therefore very rarely leave feedback, but this app is a disgrace. Ever since it was updated in 2020 it hasn't worked well. I pull up the guide and only some of the channels show. For instance, NBC was unavailable during the Super Bowl. Are you kidding me? The app has issues connecting to my Hopper and the streaming is often low quality, even though I have no issues with other streaming services. This app is pathetic! Sometimes it works, oftentimes it doesn't.
I've been trying for days to watch one show from my DVR on this app. I can get through about 15 minutes of actual show on a lunch hour. The buffering is so slow when I rewind that the rewind ends up actually fast forwarding. What??? Not only that, but after I exit the app, the audio of the show keeps playing in spurts in my headphones. And why can't I fast forward through commercials when I'm watching something from my DVR? Isn't the point of the DVR to do just that?
This app is worthless! I tried to use it while camping. I had 3 to 4 bars of service and every 4 or 5 seconds it would buffer. Absolutely worthless! I mirrored 5 or 6 other apps to my TV (same camping trip/spot) with absolutely no buffering!
Absolutely horrible! Took three and a half hours to watch a 2-hour movie and I missed most of it. Of course that included I'm installing the app reinstalling the app on the Amazon Fire stick. Gave up on that installed the app on my phone. Worse on my phone. Such a frustrating experience!!
This app is genuinely awful. Not only does it buffer at least once a minute, but most of the time the video will stop completely, forcing you to reset the app. Dont waste your money on Dish if this is the reason you're subscribing.
A recent update of some sort has made this app entirely unusable on my TV. It buffers every 2 seconds, constantly crashes with unknown errors, and rarely responds to the remote. Completely unwatchable! What the heck did you do to a fine app?!
Constantly showing the loading bar, glitching/skipping, force closing because it can't connect, and very unclear/bad quality screen image, especially on my firestick. Its been even worse this past week...and no its not my internet because all other apps run just fine.
NO MORE THAN A GLORIFIED JOEY Requires connection with my home network. If internet is out at home app won't connect. When watching live TV, tuner switches all the time instead of managing change. Not an full internet app due to needing to connect with my home dish box. They deleted my first review. Their response shows they know it's not and actual streaming app and takes viewing ability from the dish box. Boo!!!
This app isn't any good, been getting your video can't play error. This app honestly is pretty bad because there's a 50/50 chance either you can watch your show or something live, or, get hit with that constant playback error.
Continues to have streaming issues regardless of quality of wifi. Poorly designed product. Should not operate from the hopper should operate from a server providing access during power outages. Practically worthless. Comcast does remote viewing much better than Dish. Still worthless app without any attempt to fix. Works for about 2 minutes or less and then a black screen. Why have an app at all, if you can't get it to work.
The update is absolutely awful. I can barely watch TV. Basic functions don't work, you never know when the guide will load or offer a choice of four stations, when you pick something you are stuck watching it regardless. I have to restart the TV to restart the app, which has become necessary just to change the channel. I'm really disappointed and hope it gets fixed soon.
