Please add dark mode and more font options. Articles are good, sometimes they feel a little anticlimactic but they're informative. Interesting to read world events from a different perspective.
Quite a decent app for German and international news coverage. Although I am a native German speaker I prefer English language sources because I can hardly stand the German " gender-speak" any longer! So I prefer this one alongside BBC, CNN, CNBC and others.
Update: thanks for fixing the issues. Changed my rating accordingly. Earlier: My experience with the app was almost 5 star until recently. There was an update to a decently good working app. Now anytime there is a push notification, the app shows empty screen and only recovery is to restart. Then it crashes on certain pages if you restart the app. The page says beta testing is full, I suppose you need more testers before rolling out such an update. Please roll out a working version soon...
I'm deleting the app now. I mistakenly thought it was a good source of unbiased information, but discovered that everything is subtely written to give a biased view. Basically a propaganda tool, no different to the rest of the western media.
The app is not bad but I can't seem to find subtitles for the videos. I'm trying to learn German and that would be extremely useful.
I highly recommend this news app , quality and accurate new , ui is clean with very less adds 😊. Apart from this , please add night reading mode .
Great reporting and excellent news service. But made by minds that can't implement a dark mode for customers.
Keeps on crashing since last 2 update. I'm done with this app time has come to uninstall it and use something else. Too bad cause it was very informative news
I like this app very much. It is very useful app. But there should also be a dark theme in this app. So that, we should also use it at night time in dark.

The content is amazingly produce, but the does not let me choose or segment the categories of content I'd like to see first, which means I have browse to the whole app before getting to my most relevant news. That is also true for the app's notifications, which makes the app's functionalities being way worse than the previous Whatsapp service provided. Also, the content is language based, so it differentiate the content to show based on the app's selected language (singular).
The app is very good, but there is a problem with the resolution of the videos. It often switches by itself to "low" even when the connection is perfect and the default selected is "high," and the so called "high" resolution is not at all high, it is granular and obviously not HD.
I like the content but it's really annoying to watch the news when the view mode goes from regular to full screen mode back and forth if I slightly move my phone (and I'm watching the news in public transport). I have turned off autorotation on my phone for a reason. Please fix this! It should work on button, not automatically.
The app is okay, works fine. But it is not eye-friendly. There's a lot of white space in both mobile and tablet. Also, the font is blown up in some devices, allowing a change of font size would be nice. And as other comments point out, black/dark mode would be appreciated.
Two words: honest journalism. Every time I come here I learn the truth of facts, people are very transparent in their point of view.
Uninstalled. Deeply disappointed with a great news organisation's poor tech. Still endless problems even after the latest update.

DW is a good source of German news for international expats. But the app has some limitations and defects. For example one cannot search for a news article from 2019! The only search options are all media or within certain time frame. Also some times the older videos don't play or stop playing after a few seconds with error code 233404.
Very ethical,very experienced,very independent journalism,DW is well aware of all and also important and relevant news of each of its sections.Obviousely available in 30 languages and a source of education for instance learning the German language.
Great app, but please, PLEASE, allow dark theme, it's much easier on the eyes while reading articles.
There's need to create play icons for mornings, afternoons and evenings to play previous programs. Live broadcast should have a live broadcast play icon.
New: Is fixed, thank you Old: The new updated has no mobile format...the old version was working just perfectly...I been using this app daily, I hope they fix it.
Really disappointed with the new update. I use your app to learn German, and selecting the words (or any part of the text) in the previous version of the app opened a small 'on hover' menu with the 'translate' button that allowed me to instantly translate the unknown words and parts of text that I didn't understand. However, the new update does not allow me to do that and I have to exit the app and copy the text to translator app which is really frustrating and time consuming.
