The app is complete garbage now and has been for months. I swear dial up internet was faster than this. AWFUL. I just walked away from 50 dollars in savings because the app is that bad!!! Couldn't stand to wait another hour to check out. I will be deleting it after this. I waited months for it it get fixed and doesn't appear its going to ever happen. Update: I did the recommended below and its still garbage.
App slows down your whole shopping trip. I've messaged them several times about how the app slows me down to almost dial up speed. They always email back excuses and try to make it my fault. None of the other purchasing apps have this problem on my phone. On my last shopping experience the app wouldn't allow credit card info into the secure checkout box. So after over an hour of trying to get it to work I logged into a different app and the purchase went through. It's not me it's the app!!
The decade now I've been a member of Rakuten I can confidently say I've never had an offer go through without having to contact support. They pretend on commercials and in ads they give you the best deal but they go out of their way to not send you your money. They offer special cash back and then change the amounts depending on the day it's processed. They make up exclusions, or just say they can't confirm the purchase when called out.
Constantly not working. The app is either saying it's encountered an error every time I try to open a new page, or it is just super glitchy and won't work. I've had to reset my password three times, each time saying that my new password was incorrect. It also kept saying my password couldn't be the same as before....This app is testing my patience
I've had it. When I go through the app to get to a retailer, it rarely works. The pages don't load - or take forever - & entering payment methods is tedious. I'm not using this app because I'm cheap, but I need to save every penny I can right now. The offers are often great, but why bother if it takes forever? I'd rather go to the retailer's website & order. Uninstalling soon!
I love the cash back from Rakuten and use it all the time. Unfortunately, the app has always been laggy. I usually shop through my browser and complete the transaction in the Rakuten app. This sometimes causes issues where I don't get paid, so I have to go through the process of manually reporting.
I'd love to give 0 stars but I can't leave a review if I don't give at least 1. Anyway, I'm not sure what happened but I haven't been able to log in for like 3 weeks and prior to that every time I did log in i ANY store I went to would barely load and if it did it would take 8 minutes. I just spent 150 dollars at finish line before I realized I wasn't logged into my account, so I better get the cash back or I'm done with this app. Support is the only good thing about this app anymore!
Buggy browser.. I can go to my chrome browser and apply coupon codes, and when I try the same functions from the Rakuten browser, I get "session expired" and other messages at checkout, leaving me unable to complete purchases.. when it works, it's useful, but as of now, I can't give the app 5 stars. Figure out how to integrate with the chrome browser, and maybe things will work better.
Please fix this app. For the past dew weeks I have received the message Webpage Not Available when trying to go to the Nike app! I have been a member for well over a decade! Since this problem seems to be limited to Samsung Galaxy users I am suspect of the glitch. Unfortunately, I will not use the app again until it is fixed. I know I will be missing out on monies, but I feel it is worth it.
Referral program is a SCAM ! They don't want to pay out money. I accumulated about $90 referring this stupid app to my friends and now my account is suddenly locked! For no reason! It is impossible to contact customer service, and now all the points i've accumulated from both referrals and purchases through their app are gone. Look online and you'll see that there are multiple incidents like mine. What a joke.
I have never had issues with the app until the last 4-5 months. It is no longer catching my in-store purchases (and, yes, I make sure my card is linked before making my purchase) and some of my purchases still say "pending" from as far back as January. When I reach out to customer service they say it can take up to 7 days, and if I haven't received it by then, contact them (again) and they'll look into it if I provide a receipt. I have done that and still no cash back.
Great for saving extra money on things you were going to purchase anyway. I do with they had more in store access. Also, they only pay out 4 times a year, so you can't choose to save it all & get paid at Christmas or get access to it if you really need it. That's why I've given 4 stars. You don't save much during the year, but at Christmas you can save quite a bit. They have "sales" where they offer up to 15% cash back at stores we all use during that time. I got about $150 back in Jan.
Been using this app for years.switched to a new phone,now I can't sign into any accounts I use through the app.,smh! It just loads n loads n loads for eternity if I allow it.never had this issue before.cant even sign in through FB or Google either.i get an error saying it's blocked.
App is SO SLOW and nothing works correctly when going through this app!! I just placed an order on Zenni Optical and couldn't use a gift card to pay because the "apply" button wouldn't work. Did this happen when I went through the same steps on Google? Nope. The problems I have on other sites when using Rakuten is due to Rakuten itself. Ain't even worth the cash back!
I unistalled Rakuten because everytime I try to click thru to a store, come check out it doesn't do anything. It will not check out at all. I missed lots of money because of this. I spent thousands at Christmas and half my purchases didn't count because I had to Leave the app to check out. It's not worth the aggravation to contact support, I just Uninstalled the app and went elsewhere. I am thinking of trying again??? We will see!!
So far, so good! I really enjoy shopping with Rakuten, deals, coupons, codes, discounts, and this cash back deal. I've just started using this app and waiting for " the catch"??? None so far 😆 I'm really ALL about discounts and the best deal of everything!!! Thanks Rakuten, wish me luck on my shopping sprees lol!
They will change your cashback amounts. They will enter your order amount to something that's not even listed on the order. They will correct it. Then a few weeks later they will change your order amount and cashback. You have to go through the process yet again. I shouldn't have to keep doing this. I have never returned or exchanged any parts of my orders!!! They changed my cashback amount yet again after fixing the problem.
The app isn't terrible. My only complaint is that while accessing the partner stores from the app - you can't sign into your account on their sites using your Google account (Expedia and Lego) Sign in using Google Account works for both in a regular browser. That said, the customer support is awful. I would look at alternatives.
Can't update password. Each time it says to update password, it let's me then logs me out again. Not sure what the issue is. Overall I love the cashback and deals. Been with yall since 2014.
While I love that I can get great cash back offers, the ridiculous lag and constant stops that this app creates while using the shopping sites is absolutely maddening. Any time I visit the shopping site directly without going through Rakuten's app first, the process is a breeze. I'd attribute the lag to the time of year, but it's a year-round problem. Also, I really dislike that I can't choose which restaurants to link my card to. It's all or nothing.
The fact that the app let's you get cash back is great. The problem is that everytime I am due to get $30+ back from and order, it never goes through, and I have to contact customer service to get it taken care of, which takes forever because of it being holiday season. I have had 4 orders now from 2 different online stores that have disappeared or never cleared when they were supposed to.
It's a cool idea of getting money back for shopping at your favorite store but I have noticed when u use rakuten especially with Amazon either you can only find items at a higher price or sometimes not at all and I've tested it by searching for what I want first then using rakuten and some times I can't find it anymore or it's a higher price now . If the products didnt change in price I'd use it more but what's the point in getting money pack if you have to pay more to get it !
Super slow to respond to navigation or anything once you get to the store where you want to shop. It's always had a lag but it's getting worse.
Looks like they're having an outage. Can't check out anywhere. Tried from phone and desktop. Lord knows what my password is now because it wouldn't let me log in on desktop and then when I tried to reset my password, I just get an "oops. Try again" with no further info (after it told me i had a strong password). Cleared cache on both phone and desktop browser to no avail.
Something is going on. I have used Rakuten for years and love it, but recently the app is very slow. Clicking on an item may bring up the wrong item, cart looks empty at times, then refreshes and items are there. It took over 2 hours to get my order correct!!!! Lag is making me not want to use it...please fix it. Also the app is not available for my Android tablet!
Glitchy af. Everytime you try to type your information into the fields, the keyboard pops up and dissappears immediately. You could type it some where else and copy paste, but not worth 2 measly percent. Sorry. They also never credited me for the 2 people I referred.
Ratuken used to be good when it was Ebates, but now not so much. They offered a 12% (as much as 14% for some buyers) rebate when I pre-ordered my Samsung S22 Ultra and now they won't pay up. Stating that I used a non-Rakuten discount (which amounts to the manufacturers discount). This is false advertise. Don't offer rebates you aren't ready to pay up on. A class action lawsuit should be opened regarding this matter. After a bunch if emails stating inaccuracies, I recieved my "COURTESY" rebate.😒
App needs fixing. Normally I would give it a five star review because I haven't had any issues until now. When I try to fill in my info for auto fill and save it, the app closes and then after going back and trying it a 2nd & 3rd time, a notice shows and says the app has a bug try clearing the cache files. After doing that, it still shutdown when trying to save auto fill data.
Love the service! But the app is busted on the Z Fold 3. If the phone is closed it works...but it's small. If I open the phone, it says the app is no longer available for this tablet. 🤷
I have been using the app for roughly a month. I have already received $20.00 cash back. I had the option to receive a check or have it deposited into my PayPal account. It does go slow when shopping, the other apps I use have the same problem. SO, I shop on the store app/website, before I checkout, I log in and finish my transaction that way. I haven't had any problems doing in that manner. I truly enjoy finding new stores and the cash back helps so so much.
