If you happen to select the magnifier feature, there doesn't seem to be any way to (incrementally) zoom back to normal. You can close and re-open the app to get back to the default font size, but if you touch the magnifier again it jumps to the last (largest) magnification you ever previously selected. How to gradually lessen the zoom feature on an Android?
It looks to me that the NT is the KJV not the EOB (Eastern Orthodox Bible). From what i can see the OT may be the Greek septuagint version, but still trying to verify. If this app could use the EOB for the NT i would change to 5 stars, once i verify the OT is the Greek version also. Other features would be nice like bookmarking and searching. But not essential for 5 stars. The proper books are the only important thing.
It has the Septuagint 250 BC Greek version for the Old Testament, which the Orthodox uses. Love it , easy to copy and paste, has the Apocrypha, which I find useful, though I don't consider it the word of God, because I am not Greek Orthodox, or Catholic but Protestant I find it a useful tool which anybody could benefit from it to study the word. And to have ancient sources besides the scripture we Protestants use.
Very good so far. If this is what I am hoping for, I will delete my other Bible apps. I would vastly prefer the Scripture from an Orthodox perspective. I only hope that eventually it will be easier to navigate through various books ad chapters. I have since learned more about navigating around this app. This is a Bible I believe to be completely worthy of trust. Thank you.
This is a great app! I love being able to be anywhere and pull up the Holy Word of God and read it. Thank you to the creators of this app. Only thing is the ads. There are quite a few. But aside from that and some very minor grammatical errors (just stupid stuff like words aren't spaced properly) this is a wonderful app.
Great app for Orthodox Bible. There is a small glitch, though. When I rotate phone or tablet (it glitches the same way in both), app defaults to 1st chapter of whichever book I'm reading. Also banner at the top will show the chapter I was previously on, even though the heading at the top of the page says Chapter 1.
Easy to navigate, clean visuals, and an excellent way to carry around my Bible everywhere. I am a fairly recent convert to the western Orthodox rite and enjoy exploring so much of the Bible I had missed out on anytime I think about God.
I really like the save function, along with alright translation. The UI could be polished up to be more pleasing to look at but that part i dont care about since its the only orthodox bible ive found online.
I've only used the app a few times, but so far it has been great. I love having the Scriptures at my fingertips, and for free! thank you! My only complaint is the ads distracting from the script, but I understand that that's part of the price so I can put up with it.
I love the app because I finally found a orthodox version of the bible that includes all the scripture. I would like to see footnotes if you can add them and I wouldn't mind paying for no ads. God bless u!
It is useful, but it could use a good tool to search by word or topic. I appreciate having an Orthodox Bible app to compare to other versions. Thank you, and may Our Lord Jesus bless you.
Contains texts from the"oldest manuscripts"off the Bible as identified by Flavius Josephas. It seems Jewish leaders changed some of the later text about the time of Luke, in order to discredit Jesus. Judgement won't be good on them. This Bible is Easy to use, but could be more convenient when it comes to book selection. All in all, I like it.
The search feature is useless. It enlarges the letterings but can't be used for bringing out passages of the Bible. Do a quality job please because the search feature is very useful in an app.
I have zero tolerance for ads in scripture. Actually, books of any type... but the idea of seeing an ad immediately below something that's supposed to be inspirational is NOT OKAY. (If you had written the book, I might feel differently.)
I hope the Dev can find way to improve app soon 🙏. Is mostly unusable, very buggy and now overrun by Google ads, may be abandoned? Unfortunately, terrible experience. Has not seen update since 2019 ? A shame Thomas Nelson Publishing couldn't have somewhat helped out (?) at least to make app usable? Books is Their business but a basic, rudimentary app (that Why not develop themselves) would be spiritually helpful for those who can't afford? or is not available to them in their country? Idk?
Good so far, What would be amazing is ways to customize icons And a few of the bug fixes And perhaps a way to highlight passages God bless 💖
Thank you so much & thank you especially for the 12,000 pages study bible included! →Note←: Already the joint statement issued by the first of these consultations (Aarhus 1964) could declare: “We recognize in each other the one Orthodox faith of the church. Fifteen centuries of alienation have not led us astray from the faith of our fathers. On the essence of the Christological dogma we found ourselves in full agreement. Through the different terminologies used by each side.....etc see full web
I just downloaded it not 24hrs ago. I felt an immediate spiritual connection. I know that I have never read an Orthodox Bible before. It felt like I was reading a prayer from a Saint. It gives me extended lease on life. Alleluia. Thank you
5 stars for having an English translation. 0 stars for functionality. I appreciate being able to have this available, let's step up the functionality. Maybe a GoFundMe or some one time fundraiser to obtain whatever is needed to make this an app that is in par with 2021/2 rather than a 1998 version
Powerful Bible more especially for the fact that it has direct words which are being translated in other Bibles. Its good for references. The only thing im nit happy witb is the picture on the cover. So I pay very little attention to it
The reason i didnt give it a 5 star review is because of the ads, it really is against the whole value of orthodoxy to make money off of the bible. I'll be looking for another one that is ad free, even if i have to buy it.
I am pleased but I would like bookmarks please and when I close, the app does not open on the verse or page I left. I would have preferred no images. Thank you for your free service and May GOD Bless u all.
I would rate higher, but app keeps crashing... I'll be glad to re-rate if you can help me fix the problem!
I really like the fact that this Orthodox translation of the scripture is available as an app. It may possibly become the only app bible I will use. Thank you so much!
The interface could be better, but since this is just to put the English Orthodox Bible available and not about anything else, this is a very good app!
It's a good resource. Needs a little better search interface but overall it is useful.
False orthodox. You can see the use of "elders" instead of Priests or Bishops and is full of other many inaccuracies, like al other english translations. I am sorry to see that you canot find one proper translation of the Bible in English. All of them are not according to the original, but according to people that were behind the translation, starting with King James, serving not the truth but private interests. I am a theologian but do not believe me, but do your own research on that. God bless
Very good! And very useful! I do have some complaints though: the interface could be slightly better and also sometimes there are some typos, though not any full-on mistakes, from what I've noticed. Over all, a great app, that is surely useful, and maybe even necessary, for any English-speaking Orthodox Christian. Edit: I have noticed that some Psalms are missing some final verses ... I hope this is not anywhere else where I haven't noticed. I think this app is in need of an update to fix typos.
