Horrible. It's a year and a half since my 1st review and they still haven't fixed this. They removed any way to print the page you are viewing or save it as a pdf or anything useful. They removed all kinds of useful and needed features and gutted add ons. WORST roll out of Firefox yet. If I knew how to roll back to the version I had before this I would. They don't even provide a roll back option. Officially worse than Microsoft now. Don't upgrade. Keep the old Firefox or find a better browser.
I really like that you can add extensions and choose what search engines you want to set as default. It's a good browser, but it would be nice to have a Translate feature built in. The shortcuts in the main page could be better as well. It keeps filling up with recent pages I've visited, when I only want my favourite sites to show.
Good reliable browser, and the anti tracking feature to help prevent 'personalised' ads within the app does come in handy. I welcome and regularly use some of the browser extensions, but the only downside for me is the lack of a firefox add on store for Android with a much larger collection of browser extensions like there is with the desktop version of Firefox, hopefully the devs can eventually find a way around this. Other than that, this is still my go to app for casual browsing
Update made it so I can't just use Google as the homepage. I've spent 10 minutes trying to figure out how to get it back how I like it. When companies preferences over-ride user preferences they have lost touch with the core values that made them big in the first place. I am really unimpressed. Will use Chrome now. They have an easy to navigate menu for me to set the homepage as Google. It took less than 30 seconds to find. Goodbye Firefox. You were the internet to me for 15 years.
Updating my review. Firefox for Android continues to disappoint. Constant glitching, slowing down to a near freeze (or freezing) but after closing and reopening it works well again - for a little while. The list of add-ons supported on Android continues to slowly expand but basics, like language translation, is still missing.
Firefox is a great app but you cannot voice search like you can on Google Chrome!!! I have MS and that is a losing point for me!!! To the developers you people need to come up with the way where you can voice search instead of having to type stuff in please let me know if you can do that okay? Otherwise if you can't do that Firefox will be uninstalled on my desktop computer!!! It works on my smartphone but it is not work on my desktop computer. I would appreciate a response from the developers.
A surprisingly full-featured mobile browser, with near perfect integration with its desktop counterpart. If you're already within the "Mozilla family" there is very little reason to use anything else. Unless, of course, you need something lighter, as this version of Firefox is quite resource-hungry. It's also competent in the privacy department, with clear and direct options to disable data collection, in addition to solid tracker blocking, when set to "strict." Recommended.
I've been using this browser as an alternative to Google Chrome but lately it has been unusable because it is constantly freezing. And it glitches constantly as well. I notice that my screen starts flickering when I'm looking for something. What's up with that? However, my phone works quite well for now. I hope these issues are resolved sooner rather than later. I like this app a lot. Until then, I'm uninstalling it
I love Firefox, have been using it for years now. Both desktop (Windows & OSX) and mobile work very well and haven't run into any issues. One small complaint that I do have is that the "pocket" news stories, "reads of the day", doesn't allow me to customize it. I only seem to get political Left, or Far Left news sources in my "feed", (which is fine btw), I would just like to have more on the political Right come in for a balanced outlook. Some way to customize reads would be very handy. Thanks
the app is really useful and great, but it also drives me nuts with how often it refreshes my tabs for no reason even when i leave the app for a few seconds. then if it refreshes a tab that had desktop mode on, it turns off desktop mode and makes it so you can't toggle desktop mode back on. then you have to close the tab and reopen it just so the toggle isn't broken. those are honestly the only issues, but they can be really obnoxious.
What a complete mess. There's no option to customize the home screen, and you have to tap several times to get to the bookmarks now. The autofill for passwords is broken. And... After all these years, there's still no way to reorder the bookmarks! 🧐 Plus when you open a new tab, it takes you to some search screen, instead of bookmarks or even the collection screen they keep forcing down our throats. 🤣 Now even the collection screen is broken with a bunch of useless history links lol
Firefox has now achieved a state of grace where I can use it again. One important privacy feature has been left out of the current version, however: the ability to turn off one's browsing history. If shortcuts are enabled on the home page, the history keeps piling up as shortcuts like so many calling cards of adult workers littering the streets of Vegas. Yeah. That bad. Mozilla, give me the option of turning my history like I had for 20 years before this ludicrous fakakte.
Very reliable and works well with ad blocks to minimise / eliminate unwanted advertising. However, in trying to get it to replace my laptop Firefox doesn't support an Add-On to print to PDF. In fact, I'm finding the number of Add-Ons is very restricted so I'll be using another browser to do those which is a shame.
Hello firefox, its been over 7 months and what I complained about still hasn't been fixed. You minimise the app and open it again from the recent app drawer, all the tabs have to reload, if you switch tabs and return, you fill a form halfway and switch, the tabs have to reload, even when you lock the app to prevent the phone from closing it, the websites still reload. I sync between my phone and laptop and I can't continue my work with ease once I minimise the app without the tab reloading.
I don't like having a bookmark list for desktop and one for mobile - unify them. Video doesn't look as good as on Chrome and loads slower. Add the ability to upscale video. The UI is a bit ugly and shouldn't just copy Chrome - be unique. I want nothing but endless bookmark icons on homepage. Copy Chrome's follow feature. Give me the ability to choose my news sources with Pocket and I will actually use it. Add a tool bar at the bottom similar to Vivaldi/Safari. Change home button to Firefox Logo.
2099: still can't type address. Ultra basic. Update: wow that address box ... Still can't press Enter to load existing address. Have to open new window! 2021, still the same thang. Can't edit address box for years.. so many bugs in there. You cannot type new address for example. Wish Firefox was modern. It has plugins and that's why it's the only useable mobile browser.
You guys are liars for calling this a "fast" browser. I haven't dealt with a browser so frustrating in years. Not only is it incredibly slow, it freezes, refreshes and goes back when I do not want it to. Sometimes I have to click something 40 times before it finally registers. Firefox for Android is an absolute joke.
Recent updates broke the app for me. It started very aggressively reloading tabs. Whenever I exit the app, or even if I just switch the tabs, they will always reload, no matter how recently they have been used. It seems that the app does not cache any website data at all anymore. Sometimes, tabs will just go to black after switching apps, and the app has to be restarted. Other times, the same tab will display after switching to another one.
Sometimes it fails to show the desktop site. Even though I click the button, nothing happens. But playback of a tab doesn't stop when it loses focus or if the screen gets turned off, which is very good. There should also be an option to stop responding to the "audio focus" messages, as I don't want the playback to stop when something else in the system starts playing.
While I prefer this browser of chrome. Each time it updates it messes up my settings. The trackers get enabled and I have to turn them off everytime, the shortcuts which I set myself get messed up and are now out of order, and it's just clunky when accessing some sites that other browsers have no issue with, how can Lowe's be so hard to load in chrome, but works perfectly fine in chrome, tor, and other browsers
Generally very good, faster and more feature complete than the mobile version of Chrome. Latest version has an annoying bug however. When listening to audio from a website in the background, the app will randomly refresh the current tab automatically after some time which stops the audio, meaning I have to manually restart it.
Pretty good but still no support for R-Click with mouse to match long press touch function. Makes it totally unusable on my tablet I use as a laptop. Stock Chrome offers this ability. In order to achieve it with firefox I've had to use a button mapping app so its ultimately more hassle than value, I end up not using it. Additionally the update to v100 messed up my homescreen and I cant figure out how to get it back. One step forward, two steps back
I so wanted to love it because I so want Mozilla to survive and keep offering us an independent alternative. I even donate to the foundation sometimes. But the truth is, this browser is unwieldy. It does strange things with certain pages making them unreadable and sometime navigation within the page doesn't work. I'm only saying this because I want them to fix it. Firefox needs more users but it won't get them with products like this.
Oh wow, version 100 and STILL you're unable to give us BACK the images loading control... or at least to include the add-on for it. You know, to open websites in text only, to get information on low bandwidth, to read not to swipe, how old is your project manager, 25? EDIT: It's the opposite from your comment, I want to prevent images/multimedia loading in Firefox Android, that switch is missing. Tnx for the response.
Ok sometimes I open up another app and keep this one in the background with a few important tabs open but once I go back all of my tabs are gone. just gone. At first I thought it might be something that I could just turn off in the settings but there was no option pertaining to my issue at all. I really hope this issue is resolved.
Good but could be better... The latest version has a bug that closes the audio after about 10mins when listening to a Web based podcast. Can only be started again by refreshing...really bloomin annoying. The random "403 Forbidden (nginx)" is a pain in the posterior as well. Come on Mozilla, get it gripped. It's all so unnecessary. The previous version worked, worked well and worked all the time. Get these bugs sorted soon as and we can all get back to using a top grade browser. Crack on chaps.
All of a sudden my history of visited sites show up as shortcuts on my homepage, and I can't get rid of this feature without disabling shortcuts altogether. Whose idea was this? It was fine the way it was before. At least give us the option to add and remove browsing history from the shortcuts. I reserve the shortcuts for my "top sites." We shouldn't be forced to have all of our history show up right beside our top sites unless we want it to.
I love the Android version just as much as I do the pc version. Everything is great but there is one annoying problem which I would like to request the developers to look into: The close buttons at the corners of sign-up banners and the menu options in any webpage do not respond well upon clicking. Instead a popup appears as if one had long pressed the close or menu options in any particular website. Please fix this issue.
New release on 3/29/22 deleted bookmarks, logins, etc. I might have to rethink browsers. Not looking forward to rekeying in a couple hundred sites and coming up with new passwords, etc. Using my various mobile devices. Update to Developer. The suggestions to the fix only work if the backup file doesn't say corrupted like mine does. Still stuck trying to recreate all my bookmarks/logins etc.
The bad: - Can't access about:config. Shame. - There is a hitch / jerk / stutter when the tool bar slides out of view as you scroll a page. This makes a flick to scroll stop dead in it's tracks at random times. You can solve this by always displaying the tool bar. The so-so: - Support for custom sync is nice. Unfortunately this is hidden by default for whatever reason. You have to tap the logo 5 times under about. The good: - Supports add-ons which is a huge advantage over Chrome
