I used to like this app for my news source but the automatic rescrolling back to the top of the page when you finish an article is infuriating. What is the point in making people scroll back down through the articles/headlines they've already seen to pick up where they left off? Update: Issue resolved, thank you. 2ND UPDATE: SCROLLING PROBLEM IS BACK. PLEASE FIX!

App has recently became very buggy, while browsing an article, it would freeze for seemingly no reason, and when escaping back, no other article can be opened (loads forever when opening one). Very annoying as you have to close the app, reopen it, and scroll down again. Helpfully gets fixed soon as it is a quite a deal breaker.

Just shows the same junk on repeat. No matter how much effort you put in to try and "teach" it using the thumbs up/down features etc it never learns the kind of stuff you do/don't want to see. After looking for specific types of content I can see why, the same syndicated rubbish is all it has to work with. The niche publications are either defunct or poorly integrated. Garbage in, garbage out.

I get my news from this every day. It's really good. However, there needs to be some things added. For instance, having the ability to filter out all news from specific individuals or family's. I would love to never get any news about the Kardashians or anyone in their orbit. The response to this from support was basic. I have used the hide sources and topics but it doesn't work. I still see their garbage. Make your settings actually work, that would be great...

I hate that if I play a video in an article and then rotate my phone to landscape to watch the video I lose the video and the article starts from the top again. It's been like this for a long time. I can't believe Google thinks this is ok or normal?? I wish there was an option so when I click on an article it would just open in my default browser.

Every time I put my phone sideways, for watching a video for example, the app scrolls all the way to the top of the news feed or the beginning of the article. It's so annoying and been like that for years. Please fix! UPDATE: Every time I put the phone from portrait to landscape mode and vice versa it goes to the top of the post. STILL NOT FIXED

I get a notice about a headline, click it... and I'm taken to the google now feed. The headline I clicked on? That I wanted to read? HAHA better luck next time! 🙄 Still got the same problem. Shouldn't it just open the headline instead of the feed? I don't have the same problem with other apps, how can it be you can't make a app work properly for your own SO...? Also, the collections feature is nice. But you're planning on removing? It's even hard to go to the collections page...

Constantly shows articles related to subjects I have no interest in despite my preference selections and constantly hiding or blocking articles, subjects, and sources. Now the option to "see less stories like this" is totally gone and I am blocking major news sources, and still I am shown things I know I have told the app not to show. The options to edit the news feed are symbolic and worthless. If you truly want to tailor a news feed I presume there are better options.

I've used this for a while and its a great easy way for me to read up on some news almost everyday. Recently many random Chinese articles have showed up and I repeatedly removed them either by choosing don't show content on the topic, source, or in Chinese but the next day more will show up. There are no signs of my account being hacked and I don't understand why it seems like the feedback isnt working.

Used to be good, but now having issues. Sometimes, when scrolling down the list of news headlines, my phone completely crashes and reboots. Not just the app, the entire phone! Also, the widget doesn't work anymore. It's just blank. Already tried removing it and adding it back. Weird.

I'm surprised an app as bad as this comes from Google. The content and suggestions aren't bad but it's the layout and inconsistent options available from the 3 dot menu next to articles. Some show follow source, some let you thumb up/down, some sections have headings others don't. It just all looks a mess. The only saving grace is that articles a suggested based on interests/searches through Google so most of the articles are interesting.

I like this app but it's buggy. I have repeatedly hit don't show content on CNN but it repeated shows up in notifications. I went as far as dleelting all history from chrome and in news. I've followed community experts advice on what to do and still an issue. I have aged old stories saved that when I remove it keeps coming back. Every saved story I have now cannot be removed. I may switch news app all together.

The same articles over and over. News is completely biased too - another instance of Google shaping the way you think. It's got to the point that's it's pretty much unusable with the constant stream of adverts and Google's greed. Every news page you open, the screen in 75% advert, 25% article. It's pathetic. A lot of the times, you open an article, start reading and then bang, it scrolls to the bottom due to delayed adverts popping up. Uninstalled, it's completely unuseable with all the adverts.

Why do I have to agree to Simplified View each time? This is cumbersome. PLEASE make dark mode or Simplified View permanent or give us a toggle in settings so we can get it each time. It is LABORIOUS to agree to it for each article. Just make it a permanent option. It is tiring to make a decision each time Either we do or we don't. Make it a one time decision please. UGH! Thanks for responding! Means alot. I will. Keep it simple but dark mode is easier on the eyes!

Miss the ease of use of the old Google News and Weather App. The old app was thoughtfully designed with the end user in mind. One of the options/settings that made the old Google News and Weather app far more superb was the Dark Theme and settings for those who have sight/color problems. This new one drains battery quick, and does not have any features to help end users. Update 2022: it got worse...the app keeps suggesting things that I asked to stop showing! !!

Useful but really frustrating that, when I get a notification about a particular news story, when I click on the notification, Google news pops up but has moved on and presents me with unrelated news stories, meaning I have to separately go and search for the news story itself. Sort it out! It massively reduces use of the app!

News items like weather persist for days after they are relevant. Many news sources show headlines only, because when you click to view the story, the news source wants you to subscribe to see more. I am constantly shown items that are not of interest, though I have spent hours tuning my like and dislikes in the app. I have extensive experience with this app, and the longer I use it, the more relevant it should become - but it's not good enough, considering what Google should be able to do.

Apparently seems that my previous rating and comment go deleted. The lates update on 3rd of March adds HUGE static text on the top of screen that says Your Briefing and Top Stories. Why?This adds no value and is a waste of space. I suggest you add something useful there like a message/info bar with the latest or trending. Stock exchange or commodities price tracker... Anything but a static texts that states the obvious.

Please please please offer an option to bypass your WebView and open articles straight in the browser. Keeping you captive in-app is a really irritating practice. Otherwise pretty good, though I worry about what kind of news it's serving up to crazy people.

Was good until notifications broke again. I just reinstalled on my new galaxy and the top headlines worked for 2 weeks then Suddenly just stopped working like the last time I had it. The regular news notification vome.throigh occasional but almost never. I even have the app set to high notifications it's ridiculous!

Decent selection of news articles, but the autostarting video ads are insane! I've even experienced an ad on top of an ad on top of an ad on top of an ad! Often it's unusable because of the advertising. It's senseless. Who would want to buy something from ads that only annoy?

It is just a history app now. Want to find out what happened days ago. Here it is. Interested in an event near you. It happened last week. I've done the cache and reinstalled it. Absolute waste of time. If you go to the individual page that released it turns out. Surprise surprise. That there is news on the day. Amazing. And when you try and get through to Google they talk to you like a moron and don't actually read your statement. " have you tried clearing your cache" read the complaint

If you change your phone from portrait to landscape mode or vice versa during a video it restarts the news video including the ad you have to watch. Very annoying. I bet Google does this on purpose too. Ads are getting too intrusive and too frequent.

This app is so dumb. Whoever the writers are who think it's a good idea to reset to the top of the article every time your device auto rotates should be fired. Some articles are lengthy and if I have to put my phone down, or I turn my phone for ANY reason, the article returns to the top of the article... SO VERY DUMB. I deleted the BBC News app for the same reason. If you can't make it an easy and pleasurable read, why use it? There are hundreds of news providers....

Re: I have done that many times. The stories reappear every time I remove from saved stories. This has been going on for 5-7 stories for last many months. 🙄 Used to love this app, but recently I have started facing issues with saved stories. I cannot remove some stories from 'following' even after number of attempts and some stories just won't stay saved. 🙄😒

Love this app. The app experience is much fuller than the swipe left version to the left of the home screen. Always relevant articles and lots of content.

I have used this app on my phone for quite a few years, but I have drifted away from it and gone back to my laptop for news surfing. The number and presentation of advertisements inbedded has become way too annoying. It used to be I could just scroll the ad off of screen and continue reading, but now there are at least 2 ads per page and more often than not it's a damn video. Microsoft News has gone the same route, so I stopped using that one too. Damn shame.

While the app itself is great, I get my news from the Widget, it is deplorable. Half the time it doesn't show any data and there other half there it keeps flashing and blinking in its effort to show content. This has been the case from the very first time the app was launched, till date the same problem persists. Wake up Google!

The Google News Widget does not work properly (bugs): In dark mode the text color turns white but bg color does not change ( to black), it remains white making it impossible to read, also the the headlines take too much time to change after clicking the navigation buttons (with stable connection)... Please look into the issues...
