It has no continuity. When you click on it for a story that you're interested in, you have to watch a whole newscast to get to what the article was about. My phone has voice to text. It would be nice if the article you inspired me to see I can actually read or you could play the clip you are referencing. So frustrating!!! I love NBC And I watch 3 to 4 hours of MSNBC on days when I have a chance.

This app is a joke, it's just a bunch of ads and there's no actual news content. You watch an ad expecting the video will start but instead you then get a big pop up ad and no video. This is a complete fail.

This app is clunky, links don't work, likes to freeze up often. Slow to load and too many ads.

The old app was so much better. Everything about this app is clunky. Going back after reading an article doesn't remember where you were. You're essentially starting over with each article. The ads are out of control. (i understand you need ads but this is overkill.) The navigation is through panels which don't feel intuitive at all. I didn't love the old app at all, but this is horrible. I'll get my news elsewhere. This isn't worth it. UPDATE: uninstalled HNN app & got KHON app - much better.

The update as of late April 2021 is not great. When you click an alert for a specific story, it doesn't take you to that story just a page that has a feature for watching live and links to other stories below. Even if you go to Top Stories after that, good luck finding the story you clicked the alert for. Way too many graphics and ads that make the user experience feel cluttered and clunky.

The update made this app completely terrible. When you open the app the first thing that it takes you to is a full screen ad which you have to close out of just to get to the "homepage" of the app. It's too busy, too much going on, frequently crashes. If you click on top stories it'll show you 3-4 stories then it'll show you 3 ads and it'll repeat itself like that. Seriously, way too many ads. I'll be fine without the app, I'll just go elsewhere for my news.

The last update has broken the app for getting news and added a bunch of ads. Most of the time the app now takes a long time to load and clicked on articles disappear to a white screen. The ads still appear however, which seems to have been the purpose of the update. Additionally, the older version of the app has now been disabled on my devices that don't auto update. So HNN is only accessible through my web browser now .

Used to love this news app and read it daily 2 or 3 times throughout my work day. Now the app stalls, turns white and takes forever to load articles. The new home screen is confusing and hard to find headlines and content. Perhaps the most irritating thing is that clicking on certain articles automatically starts a video ad and subsequently a news clip. Please fix this app or revert it back to the original! Even the Icon on my homescreen looks ugly!

Loved the old app the recently updated is horrible. Nothing changed so switching to KHON app. The best feature about the old app is you get breaking news notifications. This new app has notifications but when you click on the notification, it goes to a generic page with no info on that breaking news. When you go to look for it in the news section, no information on that breaking news. Would be way more stars if this feature was fixed. I'm ready to switch to another local news app now.

Not happy with last update. When reading an article and swiping up or down, instead it is swiped to the left or right to previous or next article. The app is unusable right now. Also there is an ad in between each article. Also i don't like that there is less tabs on home page.

Added this App to my phone for it's emergency warning ability, especially weather. It has never let us down. Thank you, Hawaii News Now.

Samething! I've downloaded this app awhile back and deleted it. When you get news alerts and click on the alert to find nothing. When you finally get an alert that you click on and you actually get the article/video it opens through my Google and not from the App. So what's the point of the app if it opens in Google!? Might as well google for the news instead of a useless app taking up space! So sad that over these years they have not improved anything for this app!

Finally removed HNN app from my phone. It updates notifications frequently but you can't read the articles. Even going to the home page the articles are not there. Notifications for traffic also are frequent, but you can only see the title and then it goes to a traffic map of Oahu with no specifics. Worthless. I've been using Honolulu Star Bulletin app and so far so good.

Go to app permissions for this app. Tap three dots at the top right. Tap "all permissions". So many unnecessary permissions it has. Like why does it need access to your camera at ANY time? Also go to factory reset, TAKE STEPS AS IF YOU ARE GOING TO RESET YOUR PHONE. (DON'T ACTUALLY RESET YOUR PHONE) When you get to that page it will tell you that you're signed into an account with HNN that you never signed up for. This app is doing much more than just telling you about the local news.

The latest update is horrible. Seems like more ads than the previous version. When scrolling down to read a story, it swipes to the left or right to a different story. Not user friendly, layout is very elementary. The old app was much better!

Unable to watch your livestream in full screen within the app because only about one third of the screen is shown due to being blocked by the top menu & ads on the bottom of the screen. What's the point of your app if simple functionality doesn't work & users have to go on your website? Might as well just remove your dysfunctional app from the Play Store!

This app is horribly designed. You can not easily find stuff. Gives notifications, but when you click, the item is not there. On their TV broadcast they frequently refer to the website but you can never find it. I hope all the advertisements bring them lots of $. I am deleting the app.

Latest update is terrible! Notifications take you to a generic video instead of the story mentioned in the notification. Tapping 'skip' in the ad takes you to the ad's website instead of the video so you go back to watch the ad all over again. Disabling app until fixed.

I keep getting the same notifications. Sometimes right after I clear the notification, it pops up 3-4 times (sometimes more). I get notifications late; could be hours after. Very annoying.

New design is as bland as reading a newspaper. Many of the stories just come up as a blank page with grey bars where the words should be. Older version was better except for when resetting you to the top of the page every time you returned to the home page.

Terrible! They send you notifications all day & night & when you try to pull up the story you can't until about 2 hours later! Especially when it's about traffic & you're going out on the road now! 👎Just read other's reviews, glad I'm not the only one that's going to get rid of this app!

Had to uninstall this frustrating app. Today had a notification H1 closed but clicking on it didnt bring up anything... 0 stars. Traffic link doesn't work or show updates. Still doesnt work. Traffic/news pop up in notifications are sent but clicking on them doesnt even bring up the report.

In the prior version, I tapped the HNN icon and it loaded and opened ALMOST instantaneously. In the new, crapdated version, I tap the icon and wait an hour before it loads and opens. As stated before, this is because the app is BLOATED. I thought streamlined meant just that. This fat app responds like a tank in a tar pit! Good grief! This app needs to go on a diet and, I suspect, needs an exterminator.

Good: news and replays of the shows can be watched now. Incredible step forward! Bad: my only remaining gripe is that popup news alerts always only display about 7 words (half sentence) with the rest of the popup used to display a picture of zero news value. Almost there guys, please fix this and rise!!!

Sends notifications about stories, but when you click it, it sends you to a page with like 3 links to stories that isn't even the one in the notification. And then when you try to navigate through the app, the story you want to read isn't even there

The app is alright, very slow for videos or to watch LIVE but sucky because you cannot turn your phone to watch a full screen broadcast. You're stuck trying to watch the broadcast between 1in by 3 inch and not able to adjust or enlarge. Probably gonna uninstall soon

The new format of the app is terrible. You cannot even read the entire title of each article to decide if it is one that you would want to read. Another example of software developers who are NOT end users and care about functionality vs enjoyability of the app.

Notifications from this app are pretty useless, because whenever I click on one it takes me to the homepage where I can rarely find the information that was referenced. (Likewise, when a newscaster says "go to our website" for particular topic, even if I search on that topic I can't find it) So - the app is okay for cruising or scrolling through, but not for finding a particular item or topic.
