I simply find the app so slow to respond I would compare it to the movement of a sloth. It does what it is meant to do but I feel the whole app could be improved with looks and speed. When tapping the icon it takes about 5 seconds to get to the controls, that is what I meant by speed, every app I have on my phone is instant. App works well once you are in.

Very slow to start up. Suddenly stopped working & wanted me to login again. Now I have a huge error message over the top of the home screen to set up two factor authentication. I don't want to (it's controlling my heating, not my bank account) but there's no way to remove this message. There are also two circles with "Get a notification when the tem" in them. No idea what this means or what these are for, but again, I can't remove them. It also wants me to re-verify my phone number. Why????

I've noticed for a while now that the app doesn't control things properly. I put it into holiday mode, check a few days later only to find my heating running full blast in an empty house!! It used to work fine but started to go wrong about the time I started to get marketing about hive+!!?? Now got a 'contract us' message that leads to 'start it all again from the beginning' links. I'll just continued to mistrust the app and not rely on it!

It's crazy that after 2 years, they've still not bothered extending the features. For me, the scheduling could be more powerful and it'd be great to have options to have preset overrides, seasonal schedules, save schedules, etc. Many, less-smart heating controllers do these things for less cost. The power is clearly there... so why not use it? If you need a dev who can be bothered to improve the app, I'll do it.

Slow slow slow. Recently the widget won't refresh unless you open the app. Which totally voids the point of having a widget. I guess you can't expect an energy company to know how to do good software. Also the thermostat had a variance of + or - 5 degrees from the actual temperature in the room. Cheap components to maximize profits I would think. Not a great experience. Wish I'd gone with the Google system.

It works but it's painfully slow and clunky. Quick Action buttons (particularly the one I have set up to boost the heating) keeps getting greyed out and disappearing. It can be quicker to go to the thermostat than use this app. Hive is a brilliant concept but totally let down by this awful app. 08/04 Quick Action button still greyed out after today's update. App still running treacle-slow. This app is an integral part of the Hive system and it's just not up to the job.

An average app but simple enough to use. Can be slow but the main issue (biggest problem) is viewing the history of when the heating has been on.. there is data missing, or won't load at all. Since yesterday the button to view the history has disappeared altogether and have not been able to retrieve it. Pretty useless App at this momemt. Update 14.03.22: email received from Hive.. "Heating History unavailable, caused by a technical fault affecting multizone customers, we're aware of the problem.

Clunky and slow and also mainly an advert for hive plus. I assumed that saving energy was what a smart thermostat was for. Turns out you have to pay a monthly subscription for that, so you can see your own data! Perhaps you'd be gracious enough to leave this valid consumer experience review in place instead of appealing for it to be removed from the play store this time.

How can an app like this get worse over time? I'll probably move away from Hive if I move home. Aside from the many other issues I have had with the system, the app is now getting worse. Widget no longer works, the buttons have disappeared and it tells me to sign in. If I open the app I am actually signed in. I also see within the app that everything has shifted right so I can't see half the buttons. The entire app has shifted half off-screen.

It was all OK, didn't need fixing, but of course jobs have to be justified. They fixed something that wasn't broken. Now we don't get a graph to show daily thermostat use and temperature. Probably one of the most useful features, well done Hive, you stuffed it.

Used this app for just short of 2 years & although clunky & basic it worked ok until last update. Now the Active heating & indoor temperature graphs have been removed. Apparently because I have a dual zone & run 2 thermostats, it shouldn't have been included ?. I don't understand how an item can be removed from a system that I've paid for in full and then becomes a chargeable on a monthly basis? Not great especially when so many people are now struggling to keep control of their energy costs.

When it works it's fine as there's never a problem between the thermostat and receiver... but app continously loses connection, even with their boosters. Results in repetitive routines of checking thermostat, removing batteries, moving thermostat closer to receiver, turning off receiver, removing batteries (again) and restarting system. Usually results in a still failed connection and/or test shutting down and/or a contact us message - usually results in "Out of Hours" response. Rubbish app!

This version 10.48.1 has an extra icon (feature) near the top right corner (basic version, no subscription). You can now see your previous room temperatures and when the Thermostat has called for more heat. I have the Hive Thermostat, Hub and controler. It works fine. You can turn off the adds to buy a subscription.

Up until a few days ago I thought this was great. But then one of my bulbs stopped responding to the schedule. It works manually. I tried uninstalling/resetting and all the other suggestions but to no avail. Eventually contacted them and apparently there is a known issue.... and with no timescale for resolution. Just a promise to keep me updated! Even the request to supply a new bulb was rejected. Not sure this is acceptable or good way of dealing or attracting new customers.

App is pretty good, 1 problem and 1 request on any future updates! Problem: app tends to get error " saying offline" when launching from time to time causing me to shut down and reopen. Request: Option to make smaller temperature increments instead of jumps by 0.5 degrees. Also the new update has made the launch/load up of the up slower! And now the latest update has taken the history chart

Once again I'm sitting here waiting for my unresponsive Hive app to turn off a light. Stupid design, what good is automated lighting that doesn't work. Update March 22:now the widget requires me to login (or open the app) before the quick action buttons can be used - slightly missing the point of a quick action button. The system is poorly thought out, badly designed and implemented with no though as to the user.

This app keeps crashing, after uninstalling and reinstalled its got worse, having to force stop and open again to use, however hive is great when working properly ********Update ************ since writing this review i have had nothing but trouble, the system keeps losing the signal and the thermostat and plugs keep disappearing and the reapear on there own, im so fed up with it i have decided to have the system taken out and replaced with a different one.

Since the last update I am unable to update the schedule via the app. I alter the time or temp but it won't allow to save it just has a spinning icon. Having to use the thermostat to update it. Agree with others needs more slots on the schedule and saving different ones to at different times of the year.

It does what is supposed I guess although it could have a hot day/cold day setting so you don't have to keep manually changing the schedule all the time. My main reason for the one star review is that they have the cheek to take your information & stick it behind a pay wall of £40 a year to view your own information. I'm not sure if this is standard practice across the industry but it shouldn't be allowed imo.

Useless. If you create an action to boost some radiators, it will just boost them to 7° instead of the temperature you set. This is just the latest bug I've had in this app. I've reinstalled it more times than any other app on my phone to fix showstopping issues. Reinstallation did not fix the one I mentioned above.

Had no problems until the latest update (6 April). Since then I've been unable to adjust the schedule (I can amend the times but when the save button appears it just spins constantly and the changes don't save). I've had to amend the schedule via the thermostat.

When it updated the schedule was set up to turn on automatically at times some bright spark decided was normal. This had the effect of turning on the heating even when not needed or no one was in the house. There is no pensioner option even though they are aware of Dob for security. So not only is the auto turn on useless it doesn't even cater to the needs of pensioners. Setting not to turn on pre update ignored when updated. But hey BG, don't let this get in the way of profit.

It's so inconsistent. My thermostat appears to be working ok but the app says it's offline. I spend too much time trying to get the hub, app and receiver to play nicely. Add to that a new boiler which is worse than the one it replaced and I'm not happy

This app used to work absolutely fine on my hive system, now though it is almost unusable. It has real problems syncing and anytime I try to make a change to my settings such as update the time my hot water starts or stops, it will let me change the time and then when I press the save button I just get a spinning circle that never stops as though it is trying to sync the information with the hive hub and it can't. I've I installed, cleared the cache etc, it doesn't work

Not a very polished app. Locking out the day's cost unless you pay £3.99 per month feels pretty tight as that would only be adding and multiplying a few numbers after the user enters their tariff. Bearing in mind that the total time doesn't seem to be correct most of the time, the cost probably would be calculated incorrectly anyway!

A real shame you cannot set a maximum upper temperature on the thermostat so they cannot accidentally turn it too high It must be possible to give it this functionality? No I do not want to use the child lock as this denies choice of when to turn heating up. I want to be able to restrict maximum

Why are the widgets now twice as tall when they don't need to be, and they won't resize any smaller. Together they now take up a full screen. I could fit 2 rows of icons on the same screen before now nothing else fits with the Hive ones. There was no need for this change. EDIT: Two years later, widgets are still stupidly big, and now it continually logs me out, so I have to log in first each time I want to use a widget shortcut. Rubbish.
