I have wasted £10 and 2 hours trying to use the app. You have to use an adobe ID to use the app but I cannot get the app to use either the ID I used for Hive or Adobe. I am not able to get at the book I purchased. It is slow very hard to use and self - congratulatory, give it a miss.
Hate this app. Taken me ages to download, log in twice, be referred to a crap website... Only to find that the boom I paid lots for has apparently expired!
Don't do it the whole process was a real struggle
Firstly, the app works fine: both of my initial ebook purchases downloaded without hassle and I am reading them happily on my Android phone. You may have to set up an Adobe ID as well as your Hive login but there are clear instructions on The Hive site about how to get going with Hive Reader. Next, The Hive is usually as cheap as Amazon for ebooks. However The Hive give some profits to local independent book shops. They also pay their share of UK tax. No brainer really. It's The Hive all the way.
Really difficult to use and a poorly designed reader.
Why does every vendor of DRM'd ebooks insist you clog your device up with yet *another* reader, because they won't cooperate with anyone else's DRM handling? It's a waste of space and time that is strangling ebooks.
I opened a book and for reading it probably would be ok but annotating takes too long and there is no clear explanation or tutorial to show you how it works.
I hate to knock Hive who do a great job in providing an alternative to Amazon but this reader is quite simply terrible. It is so bad that I uninstalled it and have resigned myself to never reading the book. No ability to sync across devices, unresponsive, awful user interface… there is literally *nothing* good about this app except it was easy to uninstall.
Simple and easy to read and download ebooks bought from hive.co.uk. Works a treat on my samsung tablet.
Too complicated for a simple book app. Why login just to browse?
Had to use this to read one book I bought. But it's a terrible reader and it linked up with chrome and I can't unlink them. Buying the book I wanted was a real struggle as well these people deliver an awful service. If only somewhere else had sold the same book as an ebook.
