Subtitles are horrendously small! I have a 5 inch smartphone and I am are not able to read but coming up on the screen. It's a really small thing however it ruins all the experience for me. I don't know why this play pause button take so much time to respond if I click on the pause button it should pass the video immediately like it happens on Amazon prime app or Netflix app. All these things show how bad is the quality assurance check at hotstar.
Hey Devs, wake-up..!! Your app is not working properly on Android devices. Even though I've a good internet connection, videos doesn't start playing. If it plays, it starts with least quality. If I change manually, whole screen goes black. Inorder to play the video again, I need to go back and then play it, then works good. But I can't do everytime. I can't always use my desktop web application.
I'm getting NL 4030 errors and this started happening right after I updated the hotstar app today(25/05/22). This only happens to certain videos and I have tried every probable solution like, 1. Restarting the phone 2. Erasing the cache 3. Reinstalling the hotstar app again. I was also recommended to contact the device maufacturer but I don't know why I should do that since my phone is just 8 months old and it is functioning properly and all the other streaming platforms seem to work just fine.
Developers really need to do something about this app. The streaming is absolute garbage. TV shows and movies stream in under SD(480p) even when using 100Mbps+ internet connection. Manually switching the quality to Full HD will does nothing for some weird reason. Sports live stream frequently switch quality, going very low quality at important points in the game which is very annoying. I always thought it was an issue with my internet but all other streaming services work perfectly fine.
So not worth it. There is an issue with quality it automatically goes down even when i've set it at a set quality and also whenever i let my phone go to sleep mode while hotstar is on it decreases quality and now i have to increase it again really reduces viewing experience 2. There are so many ads on many movies owned by hotstar even after paying a premium of 900rs per annum
Good app but there are multiple issues with it. Firstly, the mobile version doesn't seem to get good quality everytime. Even if the internet is good and I'm choosing Full HD, it still shows in a lower quality at times. Also, the app doesn't seem to stay in the background everytime. It gets refreshed after some time and doesn't stay in cache if I switch to another app. Overall the content is good and UI is decent, but pricing seems to be an issue as well.
You have changed the video quality setting. You should have to both options. 240p to Full HD. If we have the option then we can watch in any situation because the situation is not nearly the same. Sometimes we travel to other place so we don't have wifi connection everywhere and please stop advertising on ongoing movie and show. If you do not bring its solution, then the users will gradually decrease.
Chromecast issues with live sports, streaming pauses and often. All other apps like Amazon, Netflix, Apple TV etc work fine except this app. Have to disable subtitles for every episode. No user profile options Limited old content. Many users are facing the same problem for over a year but nothing is done to solve it. Troublesome watching live sports. Pathetic
Worst app ever. I have recently updated it and it just shows hotstar keeps stopping. I have done all the possible solutions. But the issue sustains. I don't know what's the reason. I have finally found the bug, it keeps stopping when I use my Bluetooth earphones. Especially when I use the high definition audio codec hotstar keeps stopping. Still it's a bug and it needs to be fixed.
I'm giving it two stars only for the shows that I'm able to watch only ("exclusively on hotstar"🙄)here. The streaming quality is not impressive. The mobile version has many shortcomings, overconsumption of mobile date is one of them. For the amount of data used in running hotstar for an hour, I could watch atleast five hours of Netflix or Prime video.
Absolutely terrible. First, the app crashes. I can't go beyond home. I re-installed hoping it would solve this issue but no luck. Second, what a scam! Initially with 399 you could watch on laptop. Now they've increased the price to 499 and you can only watch on phone. And mind you, not ad-free. If anything, this is a scam. I will absolutely not be renewing my subscription.
The app is not rotating for Samsung Galaxy Tab S7 plus even when auto-rotation is turned on which is very problematic while using the device in landscape mode. Please fix this issue. Edit: The contents have stopped playing and keep on showing playback error. Very poor maintenance of the app for large screen devices. Edit 1: Working great now regarding playback no more issues. Rotation problem still needs to be resolved with overall optimization for an android tablet.
Fix your interface man, don't you think the continue watching tab should be right on the top? Instead I have to search through all different genre recommendations to find what I'm watching. This is annoying. Also, on mobile devices, if I pause let me just see the content, let there be an option that hides all the skip forward/backward controls
Worst video player every. Doesn't play at the selected resolution. If I click on LOW 240p it starts there but soon starts loading the content in HIGH 1080p HD for no reason. If I select HIGH 1080p it starts at LOW and then I have to click again on 1080p to load the video in HD. You keep sending updates but the biggest problem never gets fixed, the media player. What are you even fixing?
It doesnt do one basic thing it is designed to do. Stream videos. It takes more than 3-4 minutes to load the app in oneplus TV. It goes all black after 4 minutes. I have to quit it and relaunch then it again takes 4 minutes. Every video start takes around 1 minute to load. Even after watching first episode next one again takes 1 minute to start. I tried clear data, reinstall, relogin everything. All other apps work fine in the TV except this. Terrible app.
Worst now! Used to be good and very user friendly interface but now ruined it with unconventional buffer problem even on high speed WiFi. Subtitle and audio sync issue. Not stable at all, crashing randomly. No multi window support now, or PIP mode so can't do multitasking now.Should have rated 0 but minimum is 1 so here you go, if anyone from hotstar devlopment team reading this kindly address and fix those issue. ( Rating and writing review for the first time over the years since using).
From yesterday night the app is not opening, it's just showing black screen. I tried everything switched off and on mobile, wifi is perfect, flight mode on and off, uninstall and install app, everything done and still it's not working, I paid subscription for an year and this is happening, it's working for all others, is it bug, if so fix. If not bug, give me solution. Provide an update....not fair hotstar
Not gonna say it's bad but. Lemme just say it. I'm enjoying a show and after 5-6 mins, 3 ads pop up. That is just so annoying!! It's not even 1 ad! But 3-3 ads in one time ahh it gives me so much annoyance. And sometimes a 2min ad pops up also bro I'm so done with this app!! And the scnd thing is that we can't even watch the video in hd. For that, we'll have to subscribe to this app! Wth is this system? I don't like it. And we can't even take screenshot and we can't also screen record. SO DONE!
App not loading either on Android TV or firestick. It used to be a great app, however not sure what is the reason for this. I have a very fast internet connection, but the app just doesn't load. Stuck at the logo forever. Tried clearing the cache, uninstalling, nothing seems to work
App doesn't work on latest Oneplus9 , so it is not a configuration issue neither slow speed connection. It just hangs up as soon you open the app and my phone keeps asking to wait , close or share the feedback option everytime this useless App is opened. Happening from last 4-5 months and situation didn't change even after reinstalling the app today .
The app makers have started a new plan to enroll more customers to their premium package by offering the 3 months mobile only service at ₹99/- where the idea is to flood the users with loads of ads at frequent intervals so that they ultimately sign up to go ad-free. Another issue is stating HD video quality but it looks similar to 240p rather than 720p which is part of the plan. Seems like some sort of scam. They have an amazing collection of movies but disappointed with this cheap strategy.
While watching cricket, everytime when I minimize and maximize the screen, ads pop up. And not only one ad, 2-3 ads, what the hell is this and why? Is disney do not have fund to run this third class app or you are not getting enough money from the subscribers? You have great HBO series but still Netflix is number 1, kindly learn from Netflix.
Faulty app. Won't work on a new device for a few months. Error pl-1001. Didn't work on my new 21 ultra, then didn't work on my tab s7 plus and now it doesn't work on my lg c1 tv. Starts working after a month or two for some reason. But what a waste of a huge part of my annual subscription.
This app is riddled with bugs. Even after updating it there is a lot of lag while streaming, the video quality changes to SD itself without enabling the auto option. Totally disappointed. Developer please fix this!!
Hi Developers. The app is not working after a recent update. My phone and MI-TV has Android 9. in the phone the message "Something went wrong, please try again" keeps coming and the app screen remains black and the loading wheel keeps turning forever. Plz fix the issue.
Bad and shameful improvement. you brought this app and given a wonderful experience to everyone, even with one account we can use in different devices at the same time that was fabulous and you have brought new plans on September 2022 that is also acceptable because of what you have given till now,so no compliants about that move but i had bought the old one year subscription and I have validity till December 2022 ,now you are showing 'ADS' in my already subscribed plan, shameless move from you.
Can not watch anything. This app doesn't open. Always showing "Something went wrong. Try after sometime." I have good internet connection & Wifi connection. It doesn't work with any of them. I'm really disappointed. I liked this app.
Very bad experience while streaming IPL matches..starts buffering after 50-60 minutes everytime..i have to close the Hotstar website and then open so that it does not buffer..happens everytime..not only in ipl matches but all live cricket matches..it's high time that you use good servers..I will change the rating and get new subscription only after you change the bad servers that you are using..
Some content are not available in regional languages (Hindi) ,for example Deadpool,X-Men and many more and this all movie are released in theaters with regional languages(Hindi) but in this app they support English language option only so what is meaning of subscription if I don't get my desire content in my regional language and also in this app there is no feedback option.
Useless app Get stuck in middle of streaming on mobile app even if you have subscription. After that, whatever you do, no content will play. I tried everything. The last option is clear all the data, which will cost you all the downloaded content. They don't have the option to resolve this by contacting customer service, all they have is predefined frequently asked questions. I never had this experience with other OTT. It's easier to just delete the app than trying trouble shooting every week.
