I love Hulu, been a subscriber for many years. the only issue that I have, which is fairly recent is I just purchased a new Samsung galaxy tablet and there is no way to enlarge the picture on non-hd shows to fill the screen. please fix this with a software update. I also noticed that the listings of episodes in a series do not load on the latest version of the Hulu Android app. Like the issue of not being able to fill the screen, a software update could probably fix that.
Streaming isn't consistent. It's not bad, maybe 20 seconds downtime if I just let a whole episode play. Skipping ahead while rewatching a show is almost impossible, the entire app freeze's. It's not my phone, it's a brand new model and I have 5G unlimited data. Never have this issue with Netflix or any of my other streaming apps. I'll give it a few months and see if it gets better. There's more content I'm interested in on Hulu than all of my other streaming apps combined so that's a plus.
The "my stuff" tab hasn't worked properly on like three months now. I have to scroll or search for all my shows. It loads the show thumbnail but when you click it none of the episodes will load. The shows all work fine from the search bar or main page though. Don't know why I'm having to come out after, again, over three months of it being broken. Do you guys have any kind of quality control, or are you just trying to pull a Netflix?
Hands-down, Hulu *still* has the worst UI in streaming. Want to skip to the next episode? There's a gigantic button right underneath the playback slider. Super convenient - I'm sure this button is far more in-demand than the 10-second skip buttons, which are super tiny and compressed into a tiny area. Be prepared to rewatch the same ads, repeatedly, because the app that *still* can't properly remember your place - a problem they've had for *years* - unless you pay extra.
Good quality and a decent amount of channels and shows to choose from. However, I'm not sure if it was due to recent updates but now when I watch from the Hulu mobile app any shows saved to the my stuff section won't fully load the list of episodes on any selected show's page. At all. It will just keep loading and loading without actually finishing. I have used the force stop option and even uninstalled then reinstalled more than once and it did NOT fix it. I do hope that it will be fixed soon.
Unusable since last update. Whatever bugs were fixed created new bugs that make it not work at all. Can't actually navigate to anything on the home screen; it is just frozen. Then, when there is any sort of announcement pop-up, the screen flickers and it can't even be closed out of. Need better testing of updates before they are pushed out.
The ads are horrendous. Watching a 30 minute episode of South Park and it stops every 5-8 minutes with 3-5 minute ad breaks. Not exaggerating! I also experience the same bug as others where you can't view episodes in your stuff. It works if you search the show up outside of your stuff and go from there, though. As much as I hate the ads, the selection is 100x better than Netflix.
Expensive but good programming. The app works very well. If you think that "cord cutting" will save you money, you might want to compare prices with what you have and a comparable HULU plan. There's not much difference. Also, HULU uses a lot of bandwidth, so it uses more of your internet than a service such as Netflix would. All things considered, I like HULU. I would have given it five stars if it weren't so pricey.
The most recent update has frozen all features on my Galaxy Note10 Plus. I can only open the app to the home page but cannot navigate to any shows, channels, or other items. I am going to uninstall the app then start from scratch. After successfully uninstalling the app I attempted to re-install it. When I signed in the screen began to jump and flutter and could not be stopped or navigated away. I had to uninstall the app again.
I've had the app for a while on my s21 ultra. It has worked well for a while but yesterday a weird problem came up. I can open the app fine but I'm not about to scroll or click on any channels. I made sure the app was updated, still the same problem after deleting and installing again. Very disappointing. If it doesn't resolve the issue soon I'll be cancelling and deleting my service for one that is more useable.
Like HBO, you disappoint me with your inability to allow me to change the zoom level while watching in full screen. No mini mode, but split screen works... Vertically with just the right shape to match the video aspect ratio and i can avoid black bars! Yeay! Netflix might be taking losses, but they have a much better viewing experience.
Currently the app has been SUPER glitchy and slow. When scrolling none of the shows will load so I can't see what anything is, then when I try to actually watch a show it buffers forever, and if the show does load then the graphics are AWFUL. Also if I leave a show mid way through then when I go back it will start from the beginning again even if I'm just about to finish the episode/movie. I thought it was just my phone, but it's like that on every device I have Hulu on
I can search for my shows but when I click the show the episodes WILL NOT LOAD! Making it impossible to pick the episode I actually want to watch. Smh. It doesn't matter how long I wait, no matter how great my Wifi is, they won't load when I'm using the app on my phone. It only works on my TV. I have Uninstalled and reinstalled this app, restarted and updated my Phone. Still doesn't work. All of the videos on my other streaming apps work but, Hulu does not.
Doesn't let me watch live tv or have access to all my shows' episodes when I'm traveling. Kind of outdated as basic cable TV. Edit: I can't watch what I want because the episodes list for different shows won't load. This has been going on for about a month. Now it started happening with my favorite show and I can't watch it on my phone or tablet because there's a problem with the app (the app is up to date).
Hulu content is adequate. Controls are horrible. Often it takes you to random places. Worst thing is rewinding past the previous commercial that played 15 seconds ago, will replay the commercials. Start Over does the same thing. I am sure the advertisers appreciate this "feature". From a consumer perspective, it's just more wasted time. I use the Android app to cast to Google Home device on tv.
Unable to use the app on my ipad. Removed and installed again but the problem continue. Lately when watching my show the program freezes and is constant. I can't enjoy my shows. Now with the latest update all my recorded shows either did not recorded - even though programed- and the worst of the worst is it erased EVERYTHING!!!!What is going on? Instead of making it better is getting worse.
No option to mark a show or series as already seen, which is beyond frustrating. I don't want to go through season after season so that it stops showing up. It's also super annoying that I have to pay for a subscription and still have to watch 5 plus ads for a show. I restarted my subscription for a month but won't be continuing. The content is good but not worth it.
Designed well but simply doesn't function on my phone. After the app initially loads on my screen, it's frozen. Any option I tap doesn't work. I've uninstalled, reinstalled, nothing helps. After repeatedly tapping, usually patiently, the app eventually crashes. I've yet to get it to work after 2 months of occasional attempts. I am using a Galaxy S21.
App has not worked in over a week. Will load the main screen, but won't allow any selection, scroll, or search. Uninstalled and re-installed, and now it won't allow me to close the helpful tip letting me know I could download shows, if only I could close the tip telling me I could do that. App is entirely non-functional.
Can Hulu ever win the competition with other streaming apps? Never. After many years, still Hulu's app doesn't work properly. The app on Android, IOS and windows is far from being a decent reliable app. It crashes, doesn't work time to time and it does not recognize the username and password frequently. Most of the contents are several years old. Hulu streams mostly cheap movies and TV shows, which most of the subscription money goes directly to the management's pocket.
Nothing about Hulu is good. Their app and service handling are sub par at best, their live TV navigation is crummy and heaven help you trying to find "my stuff". When you do find your saved or favorites they do not make it easy to see what you have already seen and what you haven't. Switched back to YouTube TV for better price, content, navigation, service and overall better experience!
Recent update wrecked the app. I see many users are in the same boat as me. When trying to access episodes for shows on my list, it just buffers to no end no matter what is done. I found that when you actually type the show in the search bar and open the show that way instead of through the watchlist, the episodes show up and I am free to choose again instead of just "Replay" or "Watch Next." Hope this helps some others work around the issue if they want until Hulu gets it together!
Having an issue lately with shows in my list. Unable to see a list of the episodes so I can choose which one I want to watch. Update- still having issues loading episodes. I see I'm not the only one having this happen since the last update. The only way to see a list of episodes is to search for every show that you want to watch. Hulu, please fix the app before you lose subscribers!
If I'm watching shows it will not play the whole episode. It will skip like the last 10-15 minutes. It's super annoying. I have to go back and play it. Also it's frustrating how it always wants to play another different show when I am done with an episode of one show. I don't want to take the play automatic option off because when I watch several episodes of the same show I want it to play automatically.
updates to the Android app have ruined it. I'm on oxygen and it's trash. the widget is made 4 x 1 so it takes up everything. useless. I cant watch 4 shows at one time what about you guys? watch TV for an hour and it asks if I'm still there. what do you think. I've only been in the app trying to change the volume for the last 40 minutes and nothing happens still. restarted my phone. force stop whatever you want to tell me to do. nothing changes the volume. subtitles take up the entire screen.
mostly great. love that I can access it on my mobile device pretty much anywhere. However, it has an issue with casting to a television. In order for it to restart you have to stop casting and go through ANOTHER set of ads. It doesn't start where you leave off when it freezes. Other than that, happy with the app. Sad that the variety of shows is dwindling.
