I am really disappointed in this app. It was created to attract people for every languages without focusing on one. The result is that the vocabulary is very limited for each language and not well chosen (seriously learn the word "owl" as one of the first animal ?). And then not adapted to language you're learning from (from english, repeating the word "capitán" is not usful, I'd rather focus on other words). If you're planning on learning seriously a language, go on your way.
The best app for learning new language in the store. I've tried many apps and this is the best so far. If you are willing to truly kearn the language not just memorize some words or sentences, this is the app you should use. You actually can learn grammatical rules and how to correctly use words and form sentences. It would be good if there is a sections where you can review the rules you previously passed.
Back after some time, apps still great !! :) Honestly one of the most user friendly and well built app if you can put the price (yes it costs some money but they often have discount and it's so much more worth your money than that one café/beer per month right now). Recently got more and more into using the characters drill, story mode and review exercises which are really useful to progress.
I've been slowly making my way through Japanese 1 with this app and I really like it! I've learned a lot of vocab I didn't know before, and it's been amazing for learning grammar. The pop quizzes and review functions are also helpful. I guess one complaint i have is the lack of variety of phrases you learn within each lesson. Usually you just learn a few phrases and then the lesson (and quizzes) ONLY ask you about those phrases. I'd like to see more variety in the future!
Didn't realize it costed money ($15/ month) It's a lot like Duolingo , probably a little better. If it was a free app it would be useful. One of the activities is glitchy and I have to get the answer wrong at times to move forward. It's the one where you put the word or phrase in the correct spot. I can't get it to go to the bottom spot.
I love this app! It , as long as you put the effort in, you WILL learn. But I would like to give some small UI suggestions for the Lingodeer team, if they see this. 1. Make more functions accessible from everywhere. As it is, you have to leave the lesson to turn on things like silent study mode or whatever, which I find annoying. 2. Let us crop our profile pictures on the fly. 3. Make the app more customizable. Maybe add a dark mode, or a light shake-screen effect when you get a question right.
The app is designed to give you structured lessons which allow you to learn at a comfortable pace, in addition, there's an ease of access on an in-depth lesson notes if you are the type that likes to learn by reading and in case if you got lost in the lesson. The voice doesn't sound robotic which is excellent so you can be clear on how it actually sounds like. There's a abundance of lessons for you to go through as well in case you think you're too good for the app. And, the mascot is very cute
I've been using LingoDeer for a few years, off and on, after trying quite a few others I like it when people trust their product enough to let you try it out as long as you like. This is the first app I have paid for. It's not cheap, but lifetime access to this quality of training? Pretty good value per hour. I don't like a paywall, but I do like an ad-free experience; and most of all I do want high quality teaching. Thank you, LingoDeer.
1. I had to pause halfway through to find and read a third party grammar reference, because the app started using new completely unexplained grammar. 2. during the stories, the app uses new characters/grammar and gives no method of looking them up. again forcing me to go to a third party reference. 3. most of the sentences/words are translated very well, but not all. I have sent feedback multiple times because of poor or wrong translations, and haven't received a single response.
I love this app for korean:) I especially like that what you learn in previous lessons are actively used in later lessons. It really helps you retain what you learn. The only thing is that I wish there was an option to use a regular phone keyboard for writing, instead of only the ready-made syllable blocks. I struggle to remember how things are spelled since I never get to do it myself. Other than that, I love it❣ Edit: option to use a regular keyboard was added, It made me super happy💕
Lingodeer does so many things better than Duolingo but I have a few gripes. It's pretty inflexible with answers, only letting you use EXACTLY the phrase you've learned even if there are alternative words or phrasing, something Duolingo actually has a one up on (like using 俺vs私 in Japanese). So much locked behind a fairly steep price point as well imo. All that aside, the Japanese course for LD has been much more fun and informative than Duolingo's and I'm a fan of the UI and approach overall.
I started learning the korean language 1 year ago and this app has helped me understand more in 3 days then in my whole year of studying it! The app gives you different sections of speech and let's you go at your very own pace. It also gives you tips on the words you have learnt, how they are used and when they are used. This app is perfect when you are preparing for a future visit to the country you imagine of. Thank you so much LingoDeer for helping me out with my learning course!
Arabic pronunciation is great. The material is given with rising difficulty: 1st you learn one letter, then to it 2nd, 3rd letters added to make a short word, then a longer one. For beta version, would be useful to add a functionality where user can submit any noticed mistake (found spelling error). Not possible to delete typed word before submitting if accidentally pressed in wrong order, need to redo all lesson. A bit annoying coin sound on submit. Users pay for testing beta for you?
The details and learning style is much better than other language learning apps I've used. I like that it includes listening, speaking, reading, and writing (if you choose). Thanks to the review reply, I was also told I could request to unlock all the lessons, so I can pick the order I want to learn them. This is much more useful to me! My only complaint is that it's pretty expensive, and there's no option to buy it out right.
I loved ChineseSkill, and when I found out that LingoDeer is owned by the same people, I wanted to check it out. It works fantastic, and has a wide range of languages, both languages that are very popular, and ones for which it's hard to find good, comprehensive courses.
Simple and smart learning. I've used it for both Japanese which I am comfortable with and Spanish which I am learning. I recommend this app to practicing with native speakers if you're on able to.
I can't say enough good things about Lingodeer. I've worked my way through the JP and KR courses, and I'm about to finish Spanish. Lingodeer makes language learning approachable by focusing on important grammar concepts first, so you can start understanding your target language from day one. You'll also learn hundreds of vocabulary words, all of which are relevant, and presented in digestible chunks. My only suggestion is to add more UI colors for the lessons! I want pink & sky blue please! :D
Got bored of Duolingo learning the same sounds over and over without knowing any useful words or sentences after 100s of Arabic lessons so I looked for something else and found LingoDeer. So glad I did! I haven't even finished the first part before the testing out and I already can read, understand and write full sentences with grammar explained. This is for the serious learners but it doesn't mean it isn't fun! Easy to follow and well worth it. Thank you LingoDeer developers! Love love love it!
I've been using this app since... 5 years ago? It was for free at that time. But now I have to purchase membership; which I would! But I don't have any suitable currency:( Is it possible to make it so that the free version of the app contains adds, and the membership makes it add free? That way LingoDeer would be accessible for a lot more poeple. Thank you:)
it's just so incredibly not affordable to people with a normal budget. and the free portion is so tiny that they really might as well make it a purchase in the app store instead of pretending it is in any real way free. putting the membership as the last detail in the describtion is also just scummy and misleading.
it is a great app to start with if you want to learn another language. I give you 4 rating now because i think Lingodeer should give explanation video about the naterial that we want to learn. It does not have to be everything, only for some advance material, so that we do not get confused over time.
I was looking for an app similar too duolingo on the way the exercises are 'structured' because to me duolingo didn't really help me feel productive when practicing languages I'm learning currently and I seaaaaarrchhhheed for apps. It took a while 😂 cuz I kept repeatingly seeing duo but then I found lingodeer which is amazinggg asf. I LOVE IT I LOVE IT I LOVE IT🖤🤍💆🏾♀️ definitely has improved my procrastination when it comes to revising languages
This app is pretty good overall, even though I would have to go somewhere else to better explain how to pronounce words, I think it's worth it. Although for the app to be better for me, is if they add Creole or Haitian Creole, for those who call it that, to their list of Language options.
I couldn't say for certain how effective this app is yet, as language is far more complex for it to be learned overnight, but so far I have learned a lot. I think the challenging parts helped my brain get used to the hiragana characters as well!
I started using this app today and it's enjoyable so I will easily be motivated to play it witch is good, checks to see if you can remember. 👍 I have one request (if it's not there already like I said I only started today) maybe you could add like a memory bank with everything we have learnt in sections because not everyone has the best memory! But great app so far
This app seems good and promising at the start... until I get to the second lesson of my language. Aperently I NEED to buy monthly, semiannual, or an annual membership. This is ridiculous, I need to spend at least 13 dollars to continue on an app that I might not like. The only way to bypass this is by testing out of stuff I don't even know or go to a different difficulty level. I understand the free version doesn't give you every lesson but only 1?
I absolutly love this app. The lifetime subscription is not that expensive. It is awsome for Japanese, Mandarin and Korean but I give it 4 stars because the other languages have some things that they do wrong. It is not very dramatic but its a thing to look out for.
It easy enjoyable a first, but the more I progress through the lessons, the more bugs I encounter and the more the interface feels clunky and unfinished. The "detailed tips" have obvious mistakes. Learning Vietnamese from English, some questions are impossible to answer without knowing how to read Chinese, as it shows 4 images with Chinese characters to choose from. Most annoying is the clicking on those tiny letters to write answers, and too many more annoyances to list here. It's a shame.
