Lite Messenger for Facebook

Excellent alternative to both the bloated FB and Messenger apps that try to take complete control over your phone. I have it set for my "most recent" news feed to immediately come up when I open the app, which is nice since FB seems to actively discourage access to most recent. And it's great to be able to send and receive messages without all the nonsense.

Recommend. I got this app years ago because I didn't have space on my phone for FB & Messenger, which was also easily hacked. I don't need all the bells & whistles that full FB has anyway. This app works great usually. Only complaints... When I follow a link and come back, I want to go to where I left off, not at top again. And when sending a picture from outside the app, even after it's done, it's like stuck in that mode and will ask multiple times where I want to share the pic, until I reboot.

I'm getting very frustrated with this app. It will not let me upload photos to Facebook, not my wall, not messenger, not even a private message. It acts like it is loading, but then I get a yellow triangle with an exclamation point in it saying that the upload failed. Yes my connection is slow, but I've not had problems uploading photos before, even with a slow connection.

The app needs some work, but the developer is eager for constructive feedback and quick to reply. It's difficult to find a better 2-in-1 alternative to the resource-hogging Facebook app and the unnecessary requirement for a separate Messenger app. I have an 8gb phone (4gb of which is consumed by the operating system and a bunch of useless bloatware), so this app is a God send. It barely takes up any space on the phone's memory and is fairly smooth to operate.

Update 17/10/2018: reinstalled today and it is working again!!! Very happy so will keep using it. After the latest update the app does not work properly anymore. The different parts are now layered over each other. It is all jumbled up. I paid for the ad free version. After the app was broken (after the update), I sent reports via the email function in the app. Never heard anything back. Deleted it and installed another app that works perfectly.

Used this for years just for messages, but now it's broken. On the default style there isn't a text box for replies and the "old" message style is okay if it's a quick chat but for longer convos it's just a pain. When you tap back or try to scroll to the top it shows older messages instead of the inbox. 🤔🤔🤔 Please fix! The official fb app slows my phone down so much!!

Great App, Great Potential. It works very well, it's very attractive, but my main malfunction is that I never get notified of a message. I'll see a message 2 hours after it's been sitting there, because I'm never alerted or notified. I've selected the message sounds, notification sound, whatever it's called.. But I've never received a single notification.. henceforth, the app is useless to me. I'd love a solution to this, that will keep me loyal to Lite Messenger. Otherwise, I need another app.

Since the update I only see 12 posts in my newsfeed then I get a bar at the bottom that reads "there is no more to read at this time". That is false. I should be able to see more on my feed. Also still can't get the free calls/videos. it just shows that I missed a call. Using Galaxy Note 8. Chose this app because of its convenience and it was PERFECT! No Longer. update 1/13/2019- This app now uses a lot of battery power even after reinstall. Please fix the issues.

It was a nice alternative....now its very buggy.... the search function doesn't work anymore and for some strange reason I can't see the one friends messages I talk to the most on it. This app needs an update otherwise it was my go too for using Facebook on mobile devices

Facebook have now made apps and browsers other than their own, impossible. :( They've now disabled my account twice in a week, after forcing me to change passwords twice too. Also, they have stopped messages from showing at all, saying the link doesn't exist. Shame, as the app was really good and genuinely "light" for years, and the developers have always tried to be responsive.

This seems to be a great alternative to the first party FB messenger apps (very small!), but to me, the standout feature is that it's a full FB app that's not arbitrarily split into Messenger and "Idk the Other Stuff". Maybe "full" is inaccurate if it's marketed as "lite", but I haven't seen any missing features. Maybe it somehow fits everything into a small app, idk. But it's definitely a unified app like the one FB never shoild have taken from us. And I haven't seen a single drawback so far.

Update: I updated app when receiving feedback it was solved. Unfortunately it's not. App keeps showing 9 new messages when I don't, but more importantly it doesn't show any group chats, specifically those with group name. Random individual chats get lost, too.I can find them by typing the name of a participant, but then find many unread messages. My laptop with normal FB obviously does show these messages, but I'm on my phone much of the time. I've uninstalled and reinstalled, but it didn't fix.

Had this app for a long time now. Recently it will glitch and repeat the same few posts as you continue to scroll... Only after restarting does it go back to normal and then it doesn't take long to glitch again. Frustrating. Update: Been weeks and still no fix to the issue... Also, after watching a clip an unclosable add pops up and forces me to restart the app to continue use.

I used the app for quite a while and loved it, lightweight, kept my fb and messenger together, nice and intuitive interface, BUT, after a while fb blocked me reporting suspicious activity and possible account hijackig, had to change my pass in order to get in, I don't know how it handles the login, changing my pass on pc would instantly connect me in the app as well (without it asking for the new credentials), the issue kept reimerging, at times without me doing any activity in fb. Uninstalling.

I only use this for the messenger part and it has progressively gotten less and less user friendly. I can't compose new messages unless there's already a message started between myself and the other person. I can't stroll through old conversations as the app continuously refreshes and kicks me out. Just horrible. Will need to start looking for a different app to replace this one.

One thing ì like abøt this app:_ìt can switch on to FB pages and notifications .This app has a way of unique stuffs and activities, but It ain't easy to do manage those activities. Ùnlike messanger app, the documents, videos or photos cannot be downloaded. Literaly, this app is more helpful in android cells which has less storages. it takes time for loading, though.

Slick app, "A+" for effort. It's AWESOME that one can use FB Newsfeed AND Messenger in one app... It even has a dark mode - nice! Too bad you cannot respond directly to a particular message in a thread (not put an emote directly on it), but (as I think dev says in description) - third-partiy apps cannot directly access some FB functionality (API?) anymore. Still a great app (I just cannot completely replace the FB apps with it, otherwise I would uninstall them and use only this)!!

Very light app indeed, with quite good configurability. Certainly not without some bugs, seeing as it completely stopped working for about a month for me. Fortunately it's working fine again now (thanks, devs!). For me this is the best FB app that still has integrated chat, so I'll stick with it.

This is the best lite app for messenger. 👍Takes care of all my messenger needs(even notifications) accept the ability to react to incoming messages (stickers work but aren't as convenient) and the ability to send video or audio messages ( i neeeeed those). 😞 I was willing to sacrifice the reactions (however much I've come to depend on those), but not the video. I have to keep the space hogging messenger because of that. 😨 So if you can live without those other features, then this app is great!

Great app, it does the basics, but it needs a larger box for writing text in. When I write a message of a few lines it's difficult to see what I wrote at the top unless I scroll up and down twenty times. A bigger text box would solve this problem. Thanks.

Downloaded this app as the Facebook app uses way way too much space on my handset, however this app is getting worse and worse unfortunately. It is borderline unusable. My wife is having the same issues. Could the devs please sort it out as it used to work. I can see by the tranche of recent feedback points that loads of folk are having the same probs. Poor!

The app has become broken. The messages and notifications are frozen and overlapping on each other, making the entire page scrambled and everything inaccessible. Please fix. Update: Still broken. Now uninstalling. You lost a customer.

Great app that I've been using for years. The Europe workaround for messages is working well, although it does have to be enabled each time I use it. Is Facebook's hobbling of the app temporary, or can we expect them to do their best to block your workaround?

It's okay but awkward to use. Not instinctual it takes getting used to but the add banner on the bottom is a pain in the bottom it would be better if on the top. And when typing the message it drops below the keyboard where you can't see it.

Messages screen is glitching all over the place. Loading older messages after the pge fully loads. Freezes up constantly while scrolling through Facebook. Only closing ir and restarting the app fixes it but only temporarily. This used to be a good app. Its garbage now....
