TRADE-OFF APP. Great for security, but it's an unabashed resource hog. Even on Samsung Galaxy S21 Ultra and the Pixel 6 Pro, I'm constantly getting notifications that this is burning processing power. I can imagine what it's doing to lesser-powered models.
I have used this app for many years and it has always been reliable and fixed my issues. You've done a great job, your recognition of excellence speaks well of that. I do have a question though...do you have an app that could detect if something changed my barring codes? I when in to deactivate them, but it won't let me. Therefore, I'm stuck with my phone that can do everything except send and receive phone calls and texts. Please advise, your help in this matter is greatly appreciated. Ty
It's Malwarebyres, one of the best malware detection programs out there. The app works fine and does its job even in the free version. Apart from a few weird UI/UX issues like not telling you if your virus definitions are updating or if the button even responded, the app is fine. You'll barely need it if you pay attention to what you do on the internet.
Has been great up until recently... Can't pinpoint exactly when it started happening, but I now get spammed with issues notifications saying I haven't run a scan in two weeks. I run a full scan, 2 minutes later "you haven't run a scan in two weeks"... Infuriating and defeats the object of the app if if can't tell me when there's an actual issue.
I've used Malwarebytes for years. This ap is an atrocity. It shows two critical issues, but doesn't say what it is. It looks like it had never scanned or been updated. That's not critical. Critical is when there is malware found. You can do nothing without activating a subscription. I'll try it, but I doubt I'll keep it. Malwarebytes isn't what it used to be. I hate subscriptions for one thing, and hate the fake free app con.
Absolutely worthless. It failed to detect ANYTHING with a full scan, WHILE I was being bombarded with notifications from a virus app I 100% had. I was able to find and delete the virus app by myself with no help whatsoever by Malwarebytes. But of course, Malwarebytes made sure to let me know there was a yearly subscription. It even tries to trick you into buying it with a popup before you see you can skip it. Basically this app is a virus in its own right.
This app is so worthless. Hitting update does nothing. Diagnostic info is still enabled by default before you can disable! Buttons are laggy and slow to respond. Interface is confusing. Some things can't be ignored or swiped away. I'd never pay for the premium version of this. My old phones are the only ones that even "need" it. If you have a flagship I suggest skipping mobile AV, it mostly does nothing IMO. Just be conscience about what you click and who to trust. I don't trust these guys.
Horrendous experience. I've used and recommended Malwarebytes for years; today, I'd had enough. I purchased Premium with no benefit for months, then out of the blue, I keep getting a pop-up about ransomware scanning that never finds anything. Several reboots, update, and fresh reinstall later, it now tells me my premium subscription is gone and won't let me do anything including update the database. Now there's an endless pop-up about not having permission but won't say how to correct this.
The lack of any indication that "update database" is working is frustrating every time I click the button. So is how the target links at the top of the same screen stopped working a while back. I'm also never sure if Malwarebytes is any good at security. It takes up so much disk space that I sure hope it's worthwhile. Would like more than hope, though.
I think we all have times when we think we got something nasty on our phone, I was wrong yet I decided to get the extra features by paying as lets face it if there is one piece of tech we can't live without its the phone. The free version is perfectly adequate I just wanted extra piece of mind, no adds and none of the things i dont need, i.e. app closers and memory release, all that can be done in the phone settings. Does what it says on the tin.
I've had Malwarebytes for three or more years now and have been very happy with it. That being said, I recently got a new phone and, even though I have a premium account (through Google Play), I can't find my activation key, nor can I actually get a message through to anyone at Google to find it. Google Play acknowledges that I have paid for the premium app, yet the app says that my premium features will expire and seems to want a key. That key is nowhere in the emails that Google has sent me. Changed review from one star to four after the Malwarebytes support team provided a solution to the issue. Thank you!
I have been trying to get ahold of them for weeks, there is something very wrong that scans are not picking up . I haven't gotten any questions answered . No responses. The app is easy to use but it's not finding what's there and I have been recording some of what's going on. I was locked out of enable over apps, factory reset apps, could not disabled mic or camera. I could watch the battery drain,It was using was using an add on a day. Apps r using 600%more data from last month. no response.mad
Decent but flawed premium app. I've had a premium app for a while, and find that it doesn't always catch problems. The other reason for 3 stars is that the app Installed a shortcut icon in a subtle manner, and then when I went to remove it found it absolutely impossible to remove without uninstall uninstalling and reinstalling the app. The shortcut didn't even have any function, and just cluttered up my screen in the most annoying manner possible. What the heck? So...it needs some work...
I use the free version. As far as I'm aware the app works pretty well at protecting your device (though it did allow some extremely disruptive adware thru a few years ago...) However, the way that the app frames a lack of recent database updates & scans as "critical issues" - and notifies the user using that terminology - is alarmist, jarring, and wholly unnessary. It's manipulation to get you to use the app and I very much dislike it.
Not sure why but every time I open this app, it enables features that I turned off. Each time I turn them back off they get turned on again by itself. Not liking this at all. Paying for a yearly subscription and this app glitches, turning on features I want off. Also changes around settings from what I had them set to. Will not pay for an app that changes from what I had set for no apparent reason
Edit, they added a Gplay option to restore premium. I'll bump it to 3 stars. My last review magically disappeared. I payed for the premium subscription and the app never updated to premium, The app keeps asking for a key code. I contacted support and after going back and forth they was absolutely no help. I mean verify I paid and give me a key code, how hard is that? I do not recommend this app.. When it works it works great but if you need help you will not get it.
This product is 100% worth it especially if you use it in the free mode, the usefulness rating of malwarebytes in free mode is infinite. Countless of times it has saved me time with scanning and cleaning up my parents devices. On both the mobile phones and PCs. This is for sure one of the best tools out there in its category.
Doesn't run. I've just loaded this on 2 different devices. It say errors - 1 is that database should be updated the other saying scan never run. If you click on fix errors, no action. If you click on update database, no action. If you click on run full scan it will start and pretend by saying it's scanning but it doesn't look at any files. I guess you have to buy premium subscription to make it do anything at all?
It's glitchy and I'm not even sure it's doing anything. It is constantly running a scan in the background, and when I check it gets stuck in a cycle of nearing completion and then going back to about halfway down the progress bar. My most recent "scan" ended at 189 minutes. This doesn't seem normal
Nice app,but please make the Real Time Protection to stop turning itself on! I don't want or need it ,i only need the app to scan things. The RTP keeps turning itself on and it's very annoying, and it also drains battery :/ I'm not installing this app again unless this is fixed because it doesn't feel safe to have the app turn on something that you already declined 3 times ( EDIT : Thank you a lot! Hope it gets fixed soon )
My concern is the scanner automatically resets to start, even when the user simply changes to an alternate, 'open', window/screen or (ie) simply answers an incoming call. Rather irritating. My only work around is to start the (Update) + ("Full Scan") when retiring to bed. I have to figure out how to automatically schedule that. 🤔🙄
This can not be the same Malwarebytes I have used on PC for years on end. This app is NAGWARE!!!! And support is absolutely useless which is 100% totslly the opposite of the support I have always received on the forums when dealing with computers. Always very fast friendly supportive folks. I tell it to ignore the fact the premium is not enabled and it unchecks that feature and nags at me again in my notification bar. I have lost faith in Malwarebytes and will never recommend a purchase.
Love Malwarebytes, excellent software that everyone should use. Only minor gripe I have is that lately the app ignores my changing the settings to not scan automatically after app updates, even when I tell it to ignore non-critical issues. It persistently changes this and only this setting back to default. Which is fine for me since I don't let apps update automatically, but for anyone who did, this would be downright obnoxious and probably full-scanning multiple times a day and wasting battery.
I paid for premiun but can't activate deep scan. Everytime I try it says to upgrade to premium. If I hit the button to upgrade it says I've upgraded. Please fix! I loved the feature when on my 30 free trail but no longer. Update Support fixed the issue and once again I feel safe on my phone!
I've been infected with a mallard app that won't let me uninstall it and all these 'anti-virus' apps need me to give permission to uninstall it. The problem there is that the malware doesn't let me go into app permissions.
Others app couldn't do it. But it did. Even after several youtube tutorials, different adware app couldn't prevent appearance of pop up adv. It used pop up when i was doung some important things. Extremely annoying. After scanning with it that culprit app was found. Strangely it was an adware app!! Google must go through all app in spp store.
I had malware that kept opening random websites. I tried a different app that had a higher rating to remove it but it did not work. I used this program a few years ago and work so decided to try it again since it did a great job. It took care of my problem right away both times. I will never use anything else again.
I am a long time fan of Malwarebytes, from long before smartphones were even a thing. Their PC program was always top notch. It was at least one time the only program that caught and successfully removed an infection haunting my PC. I have found that their Android application is made with the same standard of quality and functionality. I have also been very pleased over the years with their customer service. I whole heartedly recommend them to family & friends; and now I recommend them to you!
Well, malwarebytes works exactly how it's thought to be but the issue I had is that it's easily disconnected and internet security is disabled on it own when you think it's active. Because of that, Intruders can get access to the device and wreck havock. You know most of ransomware, malwares or spy apps are capable of disabling and enabling; and are able to control device admin. That's was my experience on my device. I need it not to be disabled by any other party app. Be it antivirus softw
I have had the paid version of this app for some years now. I am also a lifetime subscriber to the Windows version, with which I'm entirely happy. Any problems raised are promptly dealt with. . Just watch out if you want to raise a ticket in the Android version. Automated reply comes immediately, reply to the problem raised a lot longer. I am plagued by popup ads on my Galaxy phone. Waited several days for an answer to a simple question - what adware protection is there in Malwarebytes for Android? Three responses so far, none of them apparently understanding the question. The last one was on the edge of just being rude and I have heard nothing more. I love MWB for Windows and have recommended it to more than 100 people. What exactly does MWB for Android protect you against? Have never had a virus detection from it (not surprising in Android) a couple or more false positive malware detections and that's all Sorry to go public with this, MWB for Android people but if you won't answer my emails I have no other choices. Needless to say I'm very dissatisfied with this app and won't be renewing my subscription. Hence only one star. Keep up the good work with MWB for Windows.
