I upgraded my rating from 3 Stars to 4 Stars. The reason is that the navigations are improving. MapQuest used to be the absolute WORST navigational tool in the world, 🌎🌍 but apparently, someone is actually doing their job. I sincerely hope the trips continue to improve on the navigation. Thanks, and I hope this helps someone.

Waze is very good, but drops out unexpectedly. Google Maps keeps turning "Do not disturb" on. Lots of bells and whistles. MapQuest straight forward, intuitive, accurate. Speaks through my Bluetooth phone, not USB. Great! Unlimited "add stops". I can add a day's worth of stops and know when I'll get home for dinner. Waze can't do it.

Could you please add a save route feature? You are one of the only apps that allows more than 10 stops to be built into a route, but as far as I can see there is no way to name and save those stops as a route. This means that everything you want to re-run the route you have to manually re-select all the addresses and put them in the order you need. It be awesome if you could work on this feature, and please keep it free! Or at least a 1 time purchase instead of a pay $9.99 a month 🙄.

Looking for a viable alternative to the awful Google Maps, Mapquest lloked like it might be the winner, but just 5 min revealed it is unusable for me. When out in landscape mode, the app automatically shrinks the map to the right half of the screen with the full turn-by-turn directions on the left half. Unsafe to safely drive trying to squint at a half-sized map. Unfortunate. Fix this unnecessary feature and I'll try it again and revise my review.

Been using this app for almost 3 weeks now since Waze's connection issues remain unresolved. MapQuest app has started shutting down after turn-by-turn navigation is activated and user is driving to their destination. Today, 3/4/22, it closed mid-navigation 3 times. Each time the app had to be reopened and the destination address reentered. Very frustrating and distracting, especially while driving. I hope MapQuest is not being overloaded due to Waze's issues. 😮‍💨

On multiple routes, the map shows the entire route, making me think I had to upturn. It should only show the current route. When I hit my first stop it didn't erase and kept trying to reroute me to my first stop. There should be an ETA for the current route as well the entire route, and the font should be bigger for the ETA. I want to keep using this app as I'm tired of the alternative collecting my data. Please fix.

I love that you can choose no highways, no bike paths, etc. for driving your CAR. In that way, MapQuest is FAR superior to Google Maps directions. After dark and when the weather is bad, this allows you to take a much slower, safer, residential side street or back road route, without being forced onto a higher speed, population-culling (of both humans AND deer) highway.

Great alternative to gmaps. But feedback button suggests to open Bluetooth, etc? Add a layer to show favorites and all layers on the map at once. Also tapping the temperature button should open a pop-up of more info. Also add offline maps or import, enter coordinates as a destination, show layers as a list, differentiate the icons color based on miles, setting to show all labels of business names on the map, edit layer button menu, show weather alerts on long routes or map, more options.

I really wanted to like MapQuest. But it's nowhere near Google Maps. It can't find other places like Google maps. For example, I typed to find "Walmart" and it was only able to give me a few places. Also, the directions doesn't quite take you to the correct entrance of a building. Instead, it takes you near the building location which could just be off the side of the road. I will keep checking back for improvements. But for now, Google maps is still kind of GPS.

I have had the utmost pleasure using MapQuest! This app is hands down, better than Google maps. Yes, I said it and mean it! Excellent directions, great screen, very accurate and even will get you right back on track when you get lost pretty well! Love the format and its wide database of addresses and even finds difficult ones! Excellent all around! Thank you for this very important tool!

The new google map update completely destroyed the usefullness of the app, so i downloaded several gps apps and this is by far the best one i have found. Simple and to the point. Why do so many developers think cluttering up an app with junk makes it better? If you're looking for a simple GPS app to find whatever it is you're looking for, traffic conditions, alt routes, etc., then MapQuest is what you're looking for.

I drove home from Cuyahoga Falls, OH to Leavittsburg, and the route was PERFECT. There were areas that were color coded yellow and red, along the way, which alerted me of areas where I needed to exercise extra caution and care, while driving along my route. I have always loved MapQuest. It was the FIRST, and all the rest have always fallen short of it, imo.

I just want an alternative to Google. Anything that works but isn't a evil Google product. Mapquest was first, been in the game 30 years. Why do they suck so bad? It's crazy. Absolutely the worst map app imaginable. Can not even find a walmart or a grocery store. If they do find it the give a list of address instead of the map. An interface that's redundant and useless at same time. They need non engineers to help design. They need to scrap it and start over.

1) A simple task like finding the walking distance between two points ends up a usless and monumental project. I recommend that your software developers be introduced to the "use cases" technique to better understand how the app is used. 2) Avoid the bad habit of delegating to the user the tasks of fixing configuration and installation problems. 3) if you are being forced to provide user-help buttons, fire the human interface designers. No. The world does not rotate around their app.

Constant problems with this app. Am always afraid I'm going to see "Route failed" when I've no idea where I am. Managing favorite places, on which I rely heavily, is impossible. Can't figure out to edit them, can't sort their order at all, and half the time it takes me 5 minutes just to find how to add a new one. This could be a lot better.

Bad. Looking for app to plan trips. This app on a trip I make a lot there's 4 routes to use but the best route is a mix of 2 or 3 of the 4 so to change the direct route you have to add stops then you can't save it or use a fav the mixed route so I have to type in the multi segments and then to reverse the direction doesn't happen. I know both this app and Google Maps you could do all of the above so what the hell.

Hey mapquest, I have two cell phones and the voice guidance works on one but not the other. I have everything set properly. I went to your help section for this and it is basically useless. Would you care to comment on why this is happening. I like your app except for that. One cell phone has Android version 10 and the other cell phone has Android version 7.1 if that makes any difference.

I just installed this app because I heard how great it is, however, the very first thing I noticed is that it does NOT have voice command like Google maps does. When you are a delivery driver like I am, voice command is essential because I can't stop and pull over all the time just to type in my next stop. I am going to uninstall this app immediately. Wasn't worth my time.

when I very first downloaded this app several years ago, it was fantastic! However, over the past view updates, it has become increasingly unusable for me. It no longer hooks up to my Bluetooth , I don't have voice directions, it stops in the middle of the trip , it gives me wrong directions, it takes me in circles. I've deleted it and reloaded it, and it still doesn't work worth a s***. I love this app because it was way better than Google, now, I'm not so sure.

I love Map Quest, I use it a lot. I dislike Google Maps, they would always mess up my travel routes. I got lost several times because of them. I deleted and uninstalled their App. Replaced it with Map Quest. This App isn't cluttered with unwanted features, it isn't intrusive, nor tracking you like Google's. This App is very accurate, it has all the necessary features yet it's simple and easy to use. That is why I strongly recommend it to friends and family! Keep up the great work MapQuest!! 👍😁

Wish for a gps app that doesn't exit the route when it assumes you've arrived. At least this one stays on the map but removes the marker, many times you have to drive by a couple times to find it. Especially at night! But i like it better than google maps and waze which totally exit route. police traps, speed traps, red light cameras would be nice! sometimes the speed limit is wrong. if you're not on a road it has a hard time figuring out what direction you're going, just spins around.

Google Maps get you lost! I love this app because it brings you right to your destination! It will reorient if you take a different way, and still, with high accuracy will always be with you. It is the only app that works in the remote area I live. Now if only UPS, FedEx, and other businesses used MapQuest, they would save a lot of time and energy! Highly recommend! ♡

Mar. W. May 20, 2021

Overall, I love this app! It is user friendly and quickly finds locations/directions! I like how much you can customize it as well, depending on your preferences. The turn by turn audio could be better though, I had to use the map alone a few times when using this app, because the audio didn't give me any instructions. It would have been easy to miss a turn if I wasn't watching the map super closely! This only happened 2 or 3 times in a 30 minute trip, so it's not horrible.

This app is FAR superior to the buggy, clunky Google maps, which I had been using for over a decade. MapQuest makes it really easy to switch views, change options, add stops, and most importantly, see the map day or night without going blind. I also love the easily accessible filter tool that allows you to customize businesses you would like to see along your way. Google maps simply forces a barrage of irrelevant businesses, cluttering up the map. I did notice some lag in correcting the route.

Good application! Really needed it to come through! First, as you drive it didn't keep up well and you can actually pass the street before it calibrates to keep up. Second, after you hit the stop it has no feature to check off the stop and move to the next! You just have to keep moving but then the address bar on top is stuck at the previous turn signal. It was disappointing and very frustrating I have to say. Not ready yet for civilian use in my opinion.

This is definitely my preferred navigation app, especially now that my job requires me to go to different locations. There are a few addresses that the app doesn't seem to think exist, so I had to download a second app to get to them (but it's not as easy to use as MapQuest, so I won't be using it for anything else). And I do wish that when you rotate your phone, the screen would split vertically rather than horizontally between the directions and the map like it used to.

As I try to de-Google my life, MapQuest gets me places. However, it's not without a couple of issues. (1) Really needs offline maps for those of us traveling with spotty service. Without that, I'm still stuck with Google Maps. (2) Every time I long press the icon on my home screen to navigate to my work or home destination, MapQuest asks me if I'd like to create a shortcut to that address so that I can long-press the icon on my home screen for directions. Eh? I've responded "yes" several times for each, but it keeps asking me.

Not as good as the website. Does not offer to rearrange stops to maximize time. Says can't calculate route when attempting to manually alter stops to save time. Wish there was an option to save routes. We are planning a cross country road trip to hit the national parks, I tried the website and really thought we had found our trip planner. Guess we will have to keep looking for a better app.

Request: please improve the the experience for when the user doesn't have location services enabled. The initial dialog saying "use limited features" is unnecessary. Instead, just prompt the user when he tries to do something that he can't do. Relatedly, when I'm looking at a business and I click the Drive or Walk button, it says I can't do that without enabling location. That's dumb! It should instead go to the screen where I can enter a starting point.

The main reason why you might want this app is that it's not Google, so when your privacy is sold, a different set of people benefit, hopefully. In that capacity it is adequate. The maps are in a better shape than Bing. Try finding "Dripping Springs Ranch Park", and you'll see. Microsoft will send you 10 miles away from the right location. Google and Mapquest work. The monetization is inoffensive, even helpful. I had to knock a star off for basic technical issues (bugs): 1. the app uses more energy than Google Maps, drains battery faster. 2. the checkbox "always show speed" does not work: speed is only shown if route is active 3. if a user computes the route, but stops one touch from activating it for a period of time, and then activates it (e.g. does it in the house, then attempts to start driving a few minutes later), the app pops a message about invalid route and returns to the previous dialog, in a loop. The only solution is to back out and force a new search and route calculation. 4. any operation resets the zoom to a default
