Marantz 2016 AVR Remote

It's a mediocre app. They claim to have fixed bugs, but despite having a fixed IP for my receiver and an excellent wireless network, it often fails to find the receiver for long enough that I give up. I can go to the web page for the receiver or use a third party app with instant response.

More recently, perhaps after a recent update, it detects only one subwoofer of the two. Overall it could be a little faster, since it's connected via network. Perhaps we won't mind Bluetooth connection too if that helps sort some issues.

Unusable app. Wont load past a recurring home screen. Multiple versions of Android Os and app version. Same result. Website support is trash. Initial page 404 error go figure.

Using this app on a hand me down unit with no remote. Connects on net wire, but says to unplug to configure wireless. Can't control configuration using this app when its unplugged, though... should connect using the Bluetooth receiver maybe, to finish configure? Did allow me to update firmware (I could move the cursor with this. Yay!) It's clunky. But once you get used to the functionality, it seems to work. Just wish I could do the wireless... have a roku in cbl/sat, Dolby stereo. Works.

For some folks having issues to install the App. I did Set the ethernet cable instead the wireless and it works flawlessly. Is like using the receiver built in menu but in your cellphone or tablet. I am using the Android base platform. A+

Update: 1/26/22 If I could rate this App negative stars, I would. Absolute rubbish. Trying to use the remote to control Zone 2 is a joke. Ridiculous waste of money. Original: Great when it works, but more often than not, it doesn't. Same problems with the Apple app. Will never buy this brand again.

Abysmal - takes ages to connect and reconnect every time you want to do something as basic as change the volume, constantly crashes, won't turn the amp on or off... unbelievable that the amp is sold with this as a main feature.

After using the Marantz app to turn my AVR on the app screen does not refresh to show that the AVR is in fact on. I have to minimize the app and then select the app again to refresh it. The other issue is when I select HEOS as my source in the Marantz app it takes me to the HEOS page in the Play Store instead of just opening the HEOS app which is already installed. Every. Single. Time.

This app WAS absolute trash!!! So that's what I said in the beginning when I first got this receiver. The receiver is fabulous! The app not so much! The app quit working on me. So I researched it, if it happens to you you need to unplug your receiver and your modem. Then plug your modem in and make sure that is running, let it run a while. Then plug your receiver in and turn it on and you should be good to go. It's as easy as that it's a little inconvenient but at least there's a great fix.

This app is a slug on Android (S21 5G). Tried it on my wife's iPhone 13, oh man, so much smoother. Please sort it out devs. **Edit March 2022, still super sluggish compared to the iOS version of this app, please please please can you send some time on this app and make it better on Android, devs??!!**

Significant delay in response. Takes 15 sec to 30 sec to power on, takes 10 sec to turn off. As an user, I am waiting waiting and waiting. I might as well just walkover to the receiver instead.

Overall is ok sometimes working slow and im wonder why it has only some settings not all

Another remote app that does not function properly the most of the time--if at all. (Recently, it does not connect to my AVR at all--useless!) Mobile apps are how people connect with their digital media. It's been that way for quite a few years. If you can't deliver a solid experience via mobile (and from the reviews I see, you fail miserably), then you're doomed as a company--and I won't shed any tears.

I really like the idea of the app, the only thing is there is a lot of features that appear to be missing for me. One of them is the volume settings under audio, I wanted to change it from numbers to dB level, it is not there. Fix the missing features and it's an easy 5 stars, sometimes it's also a little buggy but that hasnt been a huge problem for me. Edit: I own the SR5015 avr

App is way below the level I would expect from Marantz. I went with the SR7012 instead of Sonos. I though the interface would be pretty seamless but it is very buggy. 3 zone control should be fast and simple. It is not fast, the app interface is set up well, but the actual use is buggy and slow. I use this app for selecting zone volumes. It cannot do that simple function without freezing or disconnecting from the reciever. App should be able to do much more, if if cannot do much more it should be able to execute simple commands without issue. Please fix this app, it could be aaaaaammmmaaazing. Instead is is very mediocre.

Using with AV8805 Preamp connected to wired ethernet. Works great. Response time between the phone (Samsung Galaxy S8+) is very fast, no significant delay. The only reason I took off a star is because you can't tweak the Audyssey settings unless you buy the Audyssey App. I understand that Audyssey is a separate entity, but since it's built into the (very expensive) receiver, seems like it should be available. Oh, and no screen rotation. Not a big deal, but would make volume adjustment slightly easier. Suggestion for an update would be to show both the incoming and outgoing audio channels on the same screen. Currently you can only see one or the other.

Fantastic! I bought the Marantz sr5014 months ago. Due to the reviews, I never bothered with this app. Being bored I decided to try it. Downloaded, opened, turned on music and had full access with the app! Basically flawless. It's great to make adjustments without having the TV on. I don't have the issue of battery drain either. I love it! I have the Motorola edge+ phone with Android 11. Sorry that others aren't having the same experience. I would suggest doing the free download and try it out.

I have the sr5011, and a Samsung S9+ that I keep updated. Came here to give this app a rating after using it for the last year or two. It's not my primary remote but I consistently open the app to switch inputs, handle volume, etc... if I don't want to get up. I'm amazed I've never had any problems with it considering the reviews! Almost never even tried it because of the reviews, I like rooting for the underdog, lol.

the last version worked fine. since the update, it hogs processor and forces you kill the app to free up resources and preserve the device battery. not sure what the update was supposed to fix, but no new features are available and it broke what had been working. if you have it, don't update. if you updated, like I did, send emails and maybe they'll fix the fix.

Sometimes this app works great for a stretch of a few weeks with no problems. Then I start having connection problems and then then later the app won't load. The only fix I've read so is to unplug everything (Heos is sometimes hit or miss too), including the router, let it sit, and turn back on. After I've spent as much as I have now on two late model Marantz receivers I expected much, much more from such a storied brand.

I've had this app for 3 years, and it has progressively become worse to the point of basically being unusable. Crashes, severe lag, and unresponsive commands, using multiple devices on either IOS or Android. I'd say this app is a joke, but I guess the joke is on me, considering I shelled out a lot of money for a receiver that advertised having the features that are supposed to be available in this app. I will likely buy another brand of receiver that has a usable app.

Marantz needs to resolve the issues with the App performance. I am also suspicious that it may be why the Muting is unmuting after a random amount of time when I am not using the App but it is loaded into a Tablet on my network. I suspect the app may be randomly sending the Unmute command, I will test this by ensuring the App is out of memory on the tablet. It is also possible some of these issues were the result of the last Firmware update in the AVR. Either way they need to fix this.

Could be great, but very inconsistent. It intermittently disconnects from the receiver and sometimes won't reconnect without having to restart everything. It will work great for hours at a time, and then not at all. Takes too much time to get it working again. Unfortunate because when it does work it's great.

The app is absolute shame. Not only it is pretty useless in controlling the receiver (sr7011), namely it does not allow dlna control, nor it shows what's on the screen, but offers navigation buttons for whatever reason (ridiculous). Basically in control it copies an IR RC. Additionally it is full of bugs. I am not even talking about UI. I will be considering other brands for my next AVR. Marantz's attitude is insulting.

The app is slow to load and connect (not the phone or Internet), when it's running, you can't "open" the app via the notification panel, all it does is say "app is running in the background" ... Yeah duh, so open it. The notification serves no value other than to take up notification space. The ui is very poor. For more stars give us more access to receiver functions, build heos into it, use the screen real estate for the ui and make the notification useful (eg, open up the background app).

Initially the app worked fine . Very handy to adjust receiver settings. Then after a few days, I open the app it searches for several min for my AVR, finds it, then spins for another 4 or 5 min and crashes. Hasn't worked since. Uninstalled and reinstalled, useless. Would expect much more reliability for a high end AVR. Dissapointed.
