Super confusing menus screens and takes a while to learn where basic stuff is located. not sure at all why they changed from basic app to a complex one that makes things more difficult for us users and customers. also hate the broken rewards system part that doesnt even recognize my Gmail. what a great job MJR! lastly, i hope they fix this and make it more user friendly.
Update: After stopping by my local theater, a very friendly manager was able to take my information & sort it out while I watched a movie. He was nice enough to write down the info I needed & brought it to me in the show so I could look into it after my movie. Now the app is running great! Increased my rating because it is a good app now that it's working. -- Original review... App keeps saying it needs an update, yet no update is available. I can't login or use my perks. Very frustrating!
the new app just doesn't work. I follow the instructions to use my email address and last name with a capital letter. Just doesn't work. completely unprofessional to put out a new app that is not tested, and retire the old app and provide no way to get to you rewards cards or purchase tickets. Professional app developers know to keep both systems up and running until all the bugs are worked out in the new system.
The app is not visually appealing and doesn't make up for it with functionality. I had about $5-10 in rewards bucks on the old app, and there seems to be no way to transfer or link them to the new app. First the smoke screen of remodeling to justify price hikes/discount eliminations and now a app that doesn't even have basic usage capabilities (to replace one that actually worked just fine).... extremely unimpressed with MJR lately.
I'm loving the ability to reserve specific seats instead of getting to the theater and having to settle for whatever is available. I'm also loving the mobile concession ordering, makes everything alot faster and easier. Only problem I'm experiencing is when I first launch the app a notification pops up saying I need to update the app when there's no update available.
bugs, bad design decisions and bad business decisions.. Had to re-create the user account when moving from the old app.. same username /password though.. Clicking "open in maps" option opened to somewhere in China ( Theater is in Michigan ). Adding a Credit card is broken took me a few times around to understand how to overcome the defect. Something is messed up with the way this app interacts with Googles payment auto fill function. Navigating back resets all options.. so if I picked a day, a specific theater and movie and clicked back button from the "selecting a movie screen" all options are reset. many other issues .. surprisingly unprofessional roll out from what I assume to be a big company.. Its so buggy.. I don't trust this app
I recently purchased the new Android phone and I'm having trouble previewing the movie trailers. It keeps telling me there is an error initializing the YouTube player. I don't even know what to do to correct this. If anyone can give me any insight I would appreciate it otherwise I love this app. It makes ordering tickets and reserved in your seats a snap. No standing in line to get your tickets at the theater.
This app is beautiful! I'm one who's hesitant when it comes to giving out personal info. even for adv. tickets because of all the kinks that are around! This app has proved me wrong! It's so easy & convenient! Upon reaching the theater, all I show is the bar-code I rec'd from the app when I purchased my tics & favorite seats! What a smooth sailing convenient app w/Reward points. It's my "go to" whenever I'm in the mood for a great movie! It's really more fun at Mjr like they sing about!!!
Nearly every bad review is due to people having login issues! They say multiple times that they had to change your PW to your last name, starting with a capital! The app was awesome! It's faster, sleeker, and it gives me more info than before. Ex 1: I discovered I had $5 of premier dollars? It let me easily buy one ticket with that & my card as well. Yay free ticket! Ex 2: Bought tickets for Captain Marvel and it says 720-924. Nice to know when I'll get out without looking up runtime! 👍
I pre-ordered tickets in mid November for Star Wars The Rise of Skywalker, for 12/21/19. My credit card was billed (and has since been paid), and the purchase was reflected on the app. I checked it periodically, to make sure It was still there. Checked "Purchases" section of the app today, 12/16/19, and it's gone! I checked the app for the time & seats that I had purchased & they were unavailable. I had no refund hit my credit card. I didn't cancel the purchase. Just gone, and likely resold!
didn't figure out they split the first app in half. Now if you go to Waterford cinema you have to use this app not the old one. that's just stupid and inefficient. The first app worked just fine. I hate it when companies choose to split the original all in one app into 2 different ones it's just stupid.
I check for updates all the time. This app does not show up needing to be updated. I open and says to update. I click the link and takes to the play store with no new version.
Updated review: Initially I was having login issues. I can now log in, but the app and site redesign feel like a step backwards. First, to resolve my login issue, I had to create an account, using the email that I ALREADY had associated with my account. (why?) The site is even worse, because it says "email or user name", but the email only works for your first login (with last name as password). It then only accepts user name (not stated on the site). Here's my new gripe: The rewards membership. I can no longer associate our rewards, to my account, because it was created with my wife's account. The previous app allowed me to share it, which means I added points, when I bought tickets, and she could add points, when buying popcorn. Now that's no longer an option, because customer service says rewards can only be associated to one account. My wife now orders the tickets, since I can't access rewards. I can't comment on the purchase experience now. I CAN say, the site has one major flaw. If you pick a time slot, and it's almost sold out, you have to restart the process, to pick a different time (instead of selecting a new time, at that screen). I suspect the app does it the same
So buggy I can't sign up. Do not agree to download latest bug fixes because nothing has been updated in a year and the app locks up with a spinning wheel. Worthless so far.
Terrible. The old app worked fine. this one is absolutely a mess. won't allow me to sign in even using the email address i have connected to my premier rewards and wouldnt accept the default password they supposedly set up. then i tried the website same issue. neither allow you to enter your rewards card anywhere. according to the app i have zero reward dollars but when i went to the theater they said I have $10. so frustrating.
Every time I open up the app it prompts me to update it I hit the update button and it opens right up again without an update. I go through the same endless loop now for 3 weeks.
UPDATE: Finally solved login issue myself. Only bought tickets for one movie so far , but app seemed good to me. UPDATE: Called the number listed below. Automated system with no prompts related to log in trouble! They do give the option to leave a message and say they will CALL YOU BACK WITHIN THREE DAYS! Between 9am - 4:30pm. SORRY but I have a job and can't be on phone during those hours.
This app is HORRIBLE! It can't "find my tickets" for ANY movie or time I select! I'm trying to go to the movies tonight and there are several movies that I want to see. The older app is too slow and shows "no more showtimes available on this date",or something to that affect.... its 5:50pm! MJR is my favorite, let's see if I can get tickets on Cinemarks App...
i like the old app better. you could see all the showtimes for all the movies on one screen. in this one you have to open each movie individually to see the times. harder to find a movie at the time i want.
This app glitches frequently. None of the previews will play. When I click on "Forgot My Password" it says, "Error Loading Webpage" and takes me back to the previous screen. The app seems simply and neatly organized...which seems like it would make it convenient to use. The errors I mentioned make it worthless to have on my phone. 1. Please fix whatever glitch is making it impossible to reset my password. 2. Please fix whatever glitch is making it impossible to watch movie previews.
Attempted to look up movie times on the MJR Theaters app, only to realize there was a new MJR Mobile app. Tried to login numerous times with multiple passwords before discovering current Rewards Members were assigned a new password - their last name with the first letter capitalized. Once logged in, the app interface is clunky and awkward to navigate, especially when searching times under Cinemas tab. MJR should HIGHLY consider sending a mass email to current Members to ease the transition.
Not sure why they would deactivate the old app without testing and preparing the new one. Unable to login just like almost everyone else it seems. and yes i used my name (which is a security and privacy breach waiting to happen, never heard of a company this side of the last decade doing something so careless. using your customers private information as login credentials, even if this can be changed later this is an inexcusable blunder please fix before news site and privacy advocates get wind)
App won't allow me to sign in or reset my password keep getting message about not able to connect to server. I even tried deleting and reinstalling. Plus every time open the app it's says there is an update but when I go to Google play store it doesn't show any updates.
Once I figured out that it required android 5 or better, and bought a new phone, $$$, it was fine. Well, now I can't see how to add a new gift card to the app. I have to enter the whole card number when I want to make a purchase. And my credit card is in there, but expired. Can't see how to update that or add a new card.
Love MJR theaters and the app. One of the best theaters out there. Though, just like anything in life, it could use some improvements. (i.e. On the app, when there's a discount on the concessions it needs to show that and not charge people the full price - which happened to me and caused me to miss the beginning of my movie because we had to fix the issue. The also need seat warmers, they really help. And it would also benefit the business to have Coca-Cola AND Pepsi Freestyle machines.)
Beware of disappearing purchases! I purchased tix to the upcoming Star Wars movie and everything was fine. Now all of a sudden the purchase is GONE from "my purchases". How am I supposed to get in to the show when I can't access the code that the usher needs to scan? Make sure you do a screenshot or something as backup because I think I'm probably screwed out of a purchase.
Like other users, can't log in the way it instructs. It's May & the same issue doesn't appear to have changed since I couldn't log in a month ago. Currently waiting patiently for developers to respond. To be fair, this is my first time sending an SOS! **Update *I've been contacted by the developers and they were able to straighten out my issue very quickly. Even though I am a registered member, I showed up unregistered. So far so good, app is bigger & brighter! Changed my rating. I love the app!
