Movies by Flixster

I used to love this app, but it doesn't work correctly half the time anymore. Theatres in my area will disappear for weeks at a time and then reappear for no apparent reason. But what's even more frustrating is the 'want to see' section. Whether it be movies that refuse to leave that section no matter how many times you un-click want to see, or movies just disappearing from the section entirely. My 'want to see' section has nothing in it, but it says there are two movies in it. Now I have no idea what those two movies are. Very frustrating.

I used to love this app but with the last several updates it has continued to get worse and worse to the point of being almost useless. Clicking on titles rarely succeeds in loading their details, local theaters fail to load or aren't listed at all, upcoming titles are limited to 2 months. I try it again after every update with a fresh install just to see if I can get anything out of it and run into fatal roadblocks in the first 10 seconds. Sad.

Why have you listed movies that have yet to open under the heading 'Box Office?' You've mingle together movies that you can see with movies that you cannot, but it looks like they're all current. There is also a glitch in your graphic presentation. When the critic score is 100%, it squeezes out the full audience score immediately beside it. So the documentary Apollo II, at present, reads 100% and 9% rather than 100% and 90%.

The app has gotten worse since the major update. Searching for movies and actors is a pain. Every actor doesn't have all their movies listed. When you search a movie you have to press the search bar twice instead of once when the keyboard pops up. Then there is the trouble of a movie you are searching not show up. I use to love this app, but it's not worth the hassle. Stick to imbd until the app is fixed.

The app has become nearly useless. The list of movies (current or upcoming) is not updated regularly or is reported inaccurately. Half of its content does not display properly if even at all. News stories don't appear when clicked. You're limited to have far back movies are displayed. This app went from one of my most used apps. Now, it is extremely disappointing. I am looking for an alternative movie app.

Pros: layout is simple and gives you the details you want. Trailer. Synopsis. Critic and user ratings. Showtimes. But the issues are unacceptable. "an unexpected error occured" happens on nearly every page. The search engine often fails in finding the movie when it's spelled right. It's unforgiving if you have a word spelled wrong or different (e.g. gray instead of grey). Movies often disappear from the list for a day when they first hit theaters. I can rate films but doesn't let me leave review

I used to love this app and use it all the time, but after the last update it just doesn't work 90% of the time. I used it a lot to find out what is playing in my area but it won't load the movies or nearby theatres any more. It will just sit on a loading screen, or if you can get to a movies page it wont load the details/reviews. Uninstalling.

the search bar almost never finds what I'm looking for and I usually when i tap on a movie it will just go into an infinite load screen so i have to go back to the home page and click on the movie again and keep repeating that until it finally loads correctly. also movies will just disappear from the upcoming movies list for no reason. most of the time i just use the rotten tomatoes mobile site because it's faster than this buggy app.

Ugh. Same old app story. Used to be great to browse upcoming movies and reviews. Then they redesigned and made it crappier. Please start on the Details tab. I want to read about the movie before buying a ticket dummies. Or better yet get rid of the tab and go back to one screen. But even more unforgivable. The never ending spinning load icon. This started in last month or two. Sh*ts slow af. Unacceptable. Sometimes it never loads. Not sure what you guys did to ruin this app but you did.

The new version no longer lists one of our favorite theaters. Is that because it was a 2nd run theater? Either way, probably going to try other options, as the new interface is also kind of worse, IMO. ... After trying Fandango, it seems that they are probably the problem, as Flixster uses their data. Still not changing my stars until the Crest Cinema is back. Update: the app does not use a wake lock while showing previews, which means the screen will turn off mid play. Down to 1 star.

Uninstalled this pile of garbage update and downloaded an apk for the old version. Though I doubt the majority of people installing well do so.. For years, this was a go-to app. The update was unnecessary and led to frustration and uninstallation. The interface is not intuitive and the usability is terribly limited. The theater search is handcuffed and the ability to search shows on Netflix based on genre is entirely gone. Why. Why do apps insist on "updates" that ruin the user experience that gave them notoriety in the first place. I'd give it zero stars if I could.

Like others say, used to be my go to app for checking movies/times but no longer shows my local theater and when I force it to find my local theater, does not give all listings, only a few. I assume this is fandango related (if theater doesn't participate, they are dropped from the app), but don't care. Used to be great. Now completely unusable. What a shame, was one of my favorites. I'd give negative 5 rating, if possible.

This used to be my go to app for movies, but now the user interface is just a mess. It can't even figure out what day it is so i have to fix the date every time I look for show times. Info is constantly failing to load on all screens and much of the data that loads is for the wrong movie. It is basically useless in its current form and has been so for months. I've patiently waited for a fix, but no work is being done on the app any more. Uninstalled after years of use...

Right now I'm fed up with selecting trailers only to have the ad work and not the trailer itself. And why is there an ad to watch an ad? Thats what a trailer is, an ad right? I used to enjoy using this app when it had the previous interface and you could simply scroll through movies available on DVD. Its a pain to look through movies now. Basically have to search every movie instead of going down a Trip Advisor style list. I only give two stars because I still use it, although not enjoyably.

Slow, buggy, and lacking in detail. Why can't I see an actor's entire filmography? Rotten Tomatoes as a site works great. This app version of it is close to getting uninstalled. This should not be as poor as it is. Shame, really. Edit- Actually, the website version is a hell of a lot better. Rather just use that than this app. Uninstalled

Used to be my goto app I've had this app on my phone for years and used it a lot when I wanted to see what was on. The latest version has broken just about everything. Now I cannot get a film listing for my local cimema; the layout is incredibly unfriendly; I can find nothing of worth. This is the final straw. After many happy years with this app, I'm now uninstalling

Won't load on Galaxy S7. It starts up and then switches to a black screen. It's been this way for about six months even after uninstalling and reinstalling the app.. I sure wish that the developers of this app would make the changes necessary for it to be workable.

While waiting for a movie page to load, I went to my Cinematics app for reviews, then to my AMC app for showtimes. Then I went back to Flixster and am still waiting for that same page to load. What have they done to this app? Nothing will load. I can't see reviews, showtimes, information; nothing. Just movie titles. Hopefully they will fix it soon and get it back to being one of the most useful entertainment apps out there. It's unusable now.

I have to use this app if I want to search for movies to see their rotten tomatoes ratings and reviews, but I'd uninstall if there was another option. The search bar is terrible (Too many clicks). Results are terrible (you misspell even one letter, you get the Batman face). When you find the movie, details don't show up automatically, ticket sales are paramount even if the movie is out of the theater (or all theaters are closed in a pandemic). I could go on, but just know that this is garbage.

the application is no longer is accurate and reliable as it used to be. for certain Independent films and smaller independent theaters or even the landmark chain and misses some of the movies that are playing you maybe able to get more accurate information in your local newspaper. e.g. French dyystopian thriller Transit not listed is playing the DC area or at the Landmark Bethesda theater but in fact it was so whatever algorithm they're using is screwing up.

I'm not sure what has been going on with this app but it has become glitchy AF. I think it started at least a month ago. Examples: pages don't load, blank screens, ...just a lot of clicks just either time out or go to a page that just sits and twirl.

Login doesn't sync w rotten tomatoes login. Problem has persisted since this app was created. I just login via a web browser instead. And via a web browser they don't even let you save your login info (even though there is little sensitive info). This app is stuck in practices of the the early days of mobile technology. Who ever is in charge of this should switch careers as they don't have what it takes to oversee a successful project.

Worst app of it's kind ever! Works sometimes, mismatches movie titles to their picture, frequently doesn't load, constantly needs updating. The only thing that consistently works on Flixster is the ads, imagine that! I WAS a long time user but enough is enough, I'm done with them!

I wish I was having some of these other problems people are having with the newly designed app! Because for me, the thing won't even open. Splash screen then black screen. Uninstalled and reinstalled, no dice. Deleting the app again. FIX IT!

Total audience interest percentage for upcoming movies are no longer viewable, effectively removing a widely used feature. Audience score and reviews are the only remaining ones that might keep me using this, but such features and more can easily be found on other more useful (and higher quality) platforms/apps. Edit: I thought maybe I'd try out trailer function. It's bad. Shows long, high quality ads with no skip button, and the trailers themselves are super compressed, low quality for me.

Trying to search for a certain movie to check the reviews is a nightmare: the search results often will not display my desired film, and often will lock up entirely. All apps should be optimized for mobile data being often slower and spottier than WiFi, right? Someone at Rotten Tomatoes needs to revamp the engine behind their app, because it's not usable and I'm done messing with it.
