The app gets one star because it hides the option to exit the app behind an unholy amount of button presses rather than allowing the user to employ the back button as well as having no option to disable auto play of shows or trailers.
Does not support USB audio DACs. I'm using a Topping D10s to feed high quality audio from my Chromecast to my sound system and Netflix refuses to play a lot of titles when the DAC is plugged in. In fact any USB DAC I tried causes this behaviour. There's no such problem with the mobile app on my Pixel 6.
My Phillips TV won't even load the Netflix anymore. This is being a constant problem and I want it fixed before I cancel my subscription from Netflix for good. I've run all the diagnostics already, my internet has no issues connecting to any other device, every other device I run Netflix on runs perfectly. My tv is connected to the internet and is working good, it's a brand new tv so it shouldn't be the issue.
I am rating the app, not the service. I quite like the Netflix service, but the app for the Shield TV is missing a feature which really annoys me. It will not automatically adjust the Shields Refresh Rate to match the content being played. In addition, if the Shield is in a refresh rate that doesn't currently support HDR I have to manually change refresh rate settings and relaunch Netflix before it will show HDR content. I'm currently permanently running my shield at a lower refresh rate just for the convenience, but even that's not perfect inside Netflix and it certainly makes the whole device interface less snappy.
50" philips TV, and this app is CONSTANTLY throwing error -100... Netflix says there's a problem with my device, however, every single other streaming app works.. just not netflix... I really wish you guys would get your stuff together. If this keeps happening, i'm simply going to cancel my subscription, and disable the app. No sense in paying for a service that never works, simply because netflix wants to shift the blame.
Every time something plays on the netflix app, the volume setting goes to full volume. And the remote that is suppose to control the android tv (nvidia shield) volume does not work. The message that appears on the screen is "To adjust volume, set up IR control (settings > device preferences > display & sound > volume control). But with my set up i set the tv's volume to a fix level and control the android tv's volume. I don't control the tv's volume through IR. It only happens when netflix plays a video, every other streaming app works perfectly.
I am using this subscription since month now, however with latest update of Android TV this application stopped working. I contacted Netflix support but they were blunt saying I can drop the subscription. However provided no solution to the issue I was reporting. With Android TV 8.0 Netflix application is not working. Do we expect any solution to the issue or we have to live with the same.
Netflix has the best looking interface, but I hate being bombarded with all the auto-play ads and trailers. Please allow a feature that will allow individual profile users to curate their own experience settings separate from the account holder and stop holding my hand like I’m a child forcing me to watch content I have 0 interest in, that is not a great experience. And the algorithm is ridiculous, I know my taste and it’s not the garbage you recommend. Need a way to clear continue watching, there’s so much garbage on your service that I check out but don’t inevitably want to continue watching so I have to wait 5-6 months for it to clear. Most of the major streaming services already have this feature, Netflix is long overdue with this feature, embarrassingly long.
I don't get it. 5.1 channel audio has been around for decades, much longer than Google Android and Netflix, and Sony have been supporters of it all along, until Netflix, Google Android and Sony come together and it doesn't work at all. This is a basic feature these days. So what's next, no colour, monaural sound, It's just not good enough.
Can't play 4k and HDR movies since March 6, 2019 update on my Sony Android TV, it stucks at 24% buffering forever. I have contacted help support, but thing just goes in the circle, they blame the ISP but the ISP is fine, try to sign-out and sign-in, factory reset my TV, nothing is fixed. I think it's this Netflix version issue, not ISP nor my devices. I would change my rating if Netflix fixes this issue. Nothing has been fixed, I decide to downgrade my plan to Standard.next month, it's non sense to pay for premium plan and you can not watch HDR, 4K movies
hyper agressive drm detriments the experience. better off using a chromecast it seems. doesn't integrate well with local search agent, cast built it, or google assistant. i've put up with it for a long time as the ATV ecosystem was maturing, but netflix is pretty much the worst actor on the platform.
it's great and all, but I can't reach content with voice commands, and a lot of times it just stops playing unless I reboot my tv box (not even exiting the app works, only rebooting works) Thanks for the great UX, but if these were fixed, it would be the best.
I have the Telus Pik TV box, which I ordered specifically to stream Netflix on my TV. It worked fine until the last update and now it crashes after about 5 minutes of a show. So if I want to watch Netflix on my TV, I have to run it on my laptop and Cast to it :/
This TV version load movies really slow compared to the mobile version. Plus it didn't play in HD most of the time. I side-loaded a mobile version to my Android TV, and everything works flawlessly.
Why don't you use the regular Android App as a base, and create a new view for Android TV. That's what Plex does. It doesn't make sense to have 2 apps. Twice the bugs. Plus, this one get far less love than the standard Android app.
Just installed on my new Android TV. i have a different version on my phone even though both devices have Android 8. Works well even though I get an error saying it's not optimised for my TV with error code -14.
This app was on the Onn streaming box I have, since you have to pay to watch a month with a credit card, didn't think it was worth it. No Free to watch on this app so if that is the case then why bother to give money for the extras. I removed it as soon as I could, if a company refuses to give a little free to watch then I won't give money. I removed the app.
Netfilx app for TV has some bugs in it. We get error (-13) on tv showing compatibility issues. TV (VU Premium Android). Major issue being with the sound. It randomly gets very low and sometimes it goes sky high.
My Android Box (YokaTV KB2 Pro) is now not able to start the Netflix app. Just for your information, you lose one more customer. I will cancel my subscription. I give you 2 stars since I was able to use the app and watch for around 8 months I have this box.
DOesn't work if have more than one person house. If you have a hosue where people have their own Netflix accounts casting doesn't work, as need to signout and sign back in on Chromecast with Google TV each time. You can't just cast like with a regular Chromecast. Why can't I just cast, why do I need to login?
Most shows just don't load past 25%. My internet speed as tested in the app is 78mbps. All other apps on the tv and Netflix on other devices are perfect.
I have purchased premium ultra hd membership on Netflix, as Netflix supports Dolby Audio, but I still do not get this feature. I am using MI Box 3 Android Certified TV Box, and updated Netflix App. What to do, to get this feature?
I like the app, BUT it has a MAJOR issue. The app frequently gets stuck on the loading page with the spinning icon. The requires a hard reset of the TV.
The basic feature likes "Rewind 10 seconds" when press Back Arrow on remote control is broken for so long time. It's never been fixed after numerous app updates.
Nice app but needs support for more Android TVs. Sadly the content available at present is a bit stale, needs updating and less of what's already available on other apps and TV, too many BBC and ITV programs. There are other apps for that.
I keep getting the error 100 code, about ready to cancel my Netflix subscription, extremely unhappy. Why pay for something that you can't watch, and they are more than happy to take your money every month.
Persistent ui-800-3 (800-13) error. Reset network, tried different networks, reset the app, reset the TV, had engineers around. All other apps work except Netflix. Poor customer service
App itself is good, one thing missing is the ability to mute or not auto play trailers… It’s annoying and doesn’t make me want to browse through the app. I Wish Netflix supported androidTV features like Play Next so you could play your next episodes of in progress shows from the homepage, like other apps do. It is sad to see a leading streaming service not play ball and leaving their customers with a lesser experience.
