1. Every month I have to contact support to unblock my paid subscription. 2. The ads that pop up and take entire screens for paid subscriptions is overkill. Makes the app spammy. 3. Push notifications don't work as expected (goes to the home screen or just freezes). 4. Why so many ads for paid subscriptions? Considering uninstalling.

Ads on paid subscription. I have been using news24 for years as my primary source of news. I finally decided to try the paid subscription. The ads have just been getting more and more invasive and annoying. I understand that the channel needs revenue to run so I got the subscription. I was shocked to find that the ads were still there. I will be canceling this subscription and finding another news outlet.

If you want people to pay for news in SA you really need to have a great service and though app is polished etc. one of the main problems with News24 is that it simply doesn't update news articles enough. And the Ads everywhere, also, articles in breaking news are still at the top 24 hrs later... Not sure why news articles remain top for so long where other free SA news agencies have more recent and updated articles?

This app is worse than Amber Turd. Even the slightest swipes and touches and in the middle of reading an article you have apparently "swiped" to the next one. So horribly frustrating. Whoever gave this app the approval for go live should never ever be involved with apps ever again because they clearly have no idea what they are doing.

Whackest app I've ever had on my phone. It'll send push notifications and once tapping on the article it just takes me to home/main screen. So what's the point of the push notifications then? Not user friendly and when you are connected to WiFi you sometimes get error pages and having to force stop the app to make it load. Total turn off, wanted to do the monthly sub but I just can't waste my money on this waste of an app :(

The ads are super annoying, I'm uninstalling the app immediately after installing it. Might as well continue reading the news in Google, the ads aren't as invasive

The most useless app every. When it works, it's ok. Not brilliant, but ok. But, it logs me out. With rubbish. I'm logged in on too many devices - cell phone, tablet, computer. Then, I've tried to log in too many times - no. You kicked me off. Password is correct. I must change it. Why? You really seem to be trying to get rid of subscribers - I'm stupid enough to subscribe to this nonsense. I'm honestly wondering if this is worth the irritation. I can get most of the info from other sources with less irritation.

My subscription has lapsed and I am told to update my subscription details to continue. Each time I tap the update button, the app closes.

Unfortunately, after a series of unanswered e-mails I sent to News24, asking, how the wave of ads, that actually distract from reading the news, can be stopped, I am un-subsribing from this app. I would understand that I have to accept all these advertisments if I used the app for free. But as a subsriber, no way!!!

Every time I click on a story its takes me to the app instead of directly to the story. I have to open the app then refind the story as it reverts to the headings of major stories in the app. Often I cannot refind the story The same problem is still occurring after you have updated you app : date 14 dec 2021

I pay the monthly subscription but the unskippable 30 second ads when playing a video is extremely annoying. Why do I get ads when I pay for content?

Good content, with well researched, if not left/West biased editorial. Please prep update for dark mode

App continuously crashes. Deleted it for this reason about a year ago and re-installed now (on a new device) in the hope it had been fixed but unfortunately its just as bad as before.

The way ads are presented is super jarring. It's not the fact that there are ads (most understand it's a valuable funding source). The problem is the way ads rearrange text when it suddenly expands and dynamically shifts text around. I can't read like that! Rather keep the ads open from the start and keep all the article text static. Also, the subscription model could have been a lot better. Like, free to read, pay to comment. Not this.

I thought I was the only one with problems then I read all the other reviews. No man News24. You guys had a winning recipe with the old app. Now it freezes, resets automatically or says "you are offline". And I'm not even going to start with the 20 ads in one article that takes up an entire screen and zooms in and out of your article! And as a suggestion... ever considered a "dark mode" like Youtube etc. Much easier on the eye during night time - especially if your phone is already on dark mode.

I love the push notifications and being able to choose what content I get push notifications for. BUT the problem is that ever since News24 introduced a paid subscription, when you click on a push notification, in most cases, it does not take you to that specific article, instead, it takes you to the home page of the app. Then you have to scroll down to find the article that interested you and majority of the time, you don't find it. If this were to change, I would give New24 five stars!

This was once a great app and my primary source of news, but now it seems that ads have taken over the entire app. It's impossible to read the news, because each time an ad loads, the article jumps to it (this occurs 9 to 10 times IN A MINUTE). I am VERY disappointed in this app. Will be uninstalling it and have suggested my family and friends to do so too.

The app is a trade-off between a good platform for current news and an okay app. I also experience a glich when reading an article. It intermittently jumps to the bottom of the article to the ads section, and returns to the same place where it initially happened, regardless of where Iam in the arricle. It's at the point where I can't read a news piece anynore.

Good app. A marked improvement over the previous version. However, these are a few issues: - I keep having to set my alerts the way I had them because they keep getting defaulted. Why? Please stop resetting my alerts. I don't want to know about the Daily Lotto. I don't know if this happens because I have logged in afresh. Speaking of which ... - I keep having to log in again and again. Please keep me logged in on my devices. I don't know my password, so you're actually keeping me from using the app, which hurts the both of us. - When I am automatically logged out for some reason and I go onto a subscriber-only article, and then I log in, only the first two paragraphs are shown. To view the full article, I have to go back to the home screen, find the article, and click on it. Why doesn't the screen I land on after having logged in show the full article so I don't have to navigate away and come back? - The comments section loads up to three articles automatically, even if there are three or fewer articles. It's annoying to tap 'Show all comments' and see the same number of comments you just saw before tapping. Please fix this. - Sometimes, especially with a breaking news story, after the article, there is a never-ending white space, so you can't get to the bottom to see the comments or links to other stories. - Push notifications that contain an image cut off the text. So, you don't know what the story is about. - The ads unfortunately load after the article, so your position in the article is constantly disrupted, and you have to find your place again. Please fix this. I don't mind them (even though as a paying subscriber I shouldn't be seeing them), but they have to behave and not buffet you around the article.

The worst news app I've come across. Ads keep loading, moving the text and forcing you to keep searching for your place in the article. It also keeps requesting you to subscribe, takes a lot of data to load and you can't access previously downloaded articles offline. (Some better news apps allow this.) And there's option to block pictures, so even more data is required. It also needs a pretty good data connection to open, something not guaranteed in South Africa! (My other news apps opens easily

Used to be an awesome app. But now every single page plays a full screen add with music. It is impossible to use the app because the ads need to be skipped first. What is worse, is once you skip an ad, another pops up on the next article. Pity I can't give it 0 stars. They clearly haven't taken their audience and users into account. The amount of data wasted on these ads is ludicrous!

The app itself is not bad, quite user-friendly and notifications work well. What I find extremely frustrating is the new ad implementation. Of late whenever you scroll to a certain area, large ads open up in an animated fashion. This is extremely intrusive and frustrating. You end up having to rescroll and thrown from your place. I understand that ads provide revenue, and support this, but please find a static and user-friendly implementation.

I think I am going to uninstall. The latest version freezes many times while scrolling down articles or inside an article. I also dislike not having the Settings option any more to see the article list without pictures. The pictures just take up screen space and uses my data. Loading the article list and opening articles are also very slow. The new app is really cumbersome and bloated. Really not "modernised". I will find my news somewhere else. Johan Stadler.

Bad integration of adverts means you cannot scroll smoothly through articles, adverts pop up randomly and causes your articles to jump off-screen. Scrolling to find them again repeats the process. 3rd rate programming. Also, if left open too long, refreshing articles results in blanks. Then it has to be closed and opened again... Seeing all reviews complaining about the same thing, it is clear that News24 doesn't understand what we are saying... or doesn't care. Copy and paste responses.

Much worse than the original. Going down ZA style.... Thank you, I am updating my review: The app is frustrating to use, the adverts are invasive, you cannot scroll down the articles without an advert popping up and you have to keep scrolling and keep scrolling (this was however an issue with the previous app as well). It is also much slower than the previous version.

This app has now become an immense irritation to use. You can hardly pause for a second while scrolling before all the content moves out of the way to make place for yet another ad. It must be a nightmare on lower end phones. This is now an ad-app and not a news app. Used to be awesome as a source for up to date news, but now it's fast getting more irritating than what it's worth.

2 issues that make the app frustrating: 1. Apps keep popping up in the article list above the ones I am reading, meaning content scrolls down, making it difficult to read. 2. I don't want notifications, and changed my settings accordingly. A few days later notifications pop up again, and my settings have changed!

Too many ads, I used this app for many years. I tap on an article to read then at the same time an ad pops up and takes me to ad, which I did not intend to go into. Then I go back, then I have to search for the article, I wanted to read. Also the subscription articles, its annoying, can you please indicate on the headlines that it is for subscribers only as it's a waste of my time clicking on subscription articles most of the time. I don't have money to subscribe to read news.

Pushing agenda. Adds makes any live feed impossible to read due to feed jumping around. Seems like news24 is unable or unwilling to fix the issue. Lots of basic grammar and spelling mistakes that any six year old with a spell checker on a pc can correct. This used to be a professional platform. Very disappointed. Uninstalling after many years of use.
