Octopus

Cannot take photos correctly all the times and hanged during authentication to Pro account. Maybe linked with IAM Smart app if your app cannot do authentication correctly. Or try to have a reference on IAM Smart app on how to correctly do the authentication. It's wasting ppl time to take photos again and again.

I have tried at least 6 times to upgrade the Wallet lite to pro version. Each time it said the HKID and selfie uploaded are not clear. They are both very clear and I even took the HKID with a white background. I give up. Is rediculous. If possible, I would not have given the 1 star for this app.

This app tries to do too much so it starts to fail at something. Setting up eDDA can be a nightmare with this app because the banks can reject it without telling you the real reason, for my case, it's because the phone number didn't match with the bank records. Secondly, ID verification is complete trash because it detects glare on my ID card, but the thing is, HKID is made of plastic material that reflects light on their surface naturally so it's impossible to verify the ID. FIX IT!

It is hard to take a photo of an ID card. I spend 3 hours trying to catch a photo but the app always said, there is a shadow or glare on the card if not glare put it in white paper. I already did anything to remove the shadow and glare, and put the ID on white paper didn't capture anything. It is a waste of time to upgrade your octopus account.

Functional App but anything other than Visually refined not much thought to user experience. Octopus should really hire an effective Design and or CX specialist to sort this out as they make soo much money. This a classic squeeze all you can get out of something and give nothing or thr bare minimal back. Maybe privatisatiin like in the UK is in order.

Convenient way of topping up. However, I wish there was an option to top-up other's cards.

Wasted hours on the verification and still not working. Called their custom service, unable to help. This app is complete garbage!

I cannot register bank transfer through eDDA! Made few attempts each time with $1 to verify but can't go through. Please help!

This App is very poor. Tapping the card for spending records and updates does not work.

Can't upgrade wallet to pro after following every step, FAQ and customer services are absolutely unhelpful.

Issue 1: Reloading is extremely buggy, takes at least 3 attempts for each reload, every time. Issue 2: Identity verification system is completely broken. Even if you take a perfectly clear image of your HKID under perfectly ideal conditions the system will keep claiming that there's "glare detected" (I guarantee there isn't any) or "you have an invalid identity card" (I guarantee you I do not) or "data cannot be read."

I cant tranfers any amount from card to wallet now.it said that i reach the limit $3000 but its already been a month and still cannot transfer.

The app force closed every time recently, not sure due to latest updates or Google service messing up.

Wanna upgrade to Pro wallet but the ID verification system was not working AT ALL !!

Try update to Pro with verification, never able to pass the ID or photo.

Cannot collect the Consumption Voucher on a Samsung embedded Octopus. No response from developers after reporting the issue.

Loading the app takes a century. Everytime it starts up requires update. Terrible app.

Can this app even be used as an electronic octopus card to do things like ride the MTR, buy things in 7-11 etc? If not, what is the point of it? Why can iPhone users do this so easily?

After the latest update, the App is no longer allowing to tap n pay a non registered octopus card which i usually use the App to reimburse lunch fee back to colleagues. The update just remove this convenient feature. Change to one star.

Very mediocre expirence, i dislike this app due to the lack of tutorials. I couldn't pay using octopus app as a option as it keeps telling me to top up, when it already had been. (Using it as a Google Pay Option).

This is a rubbish app. I registered my octopus in the app and a few months later, it's gone. Can't register it again. It's complete nuts!

Octopus Hong Kong rewards its users for travelling on the MTR network. It's amazing, because I don't get any rewards in the city of Montreal, province of Quebec, Canada. I'll try to make HK my second home! Thank you Octopus! I LOVE YOU! Keep up the good work! People should be encouraged to use public transport, wherever and whenever possible. I enjoyed every day of my trip in HK,on the MTR network. I appreciate this incentive,and I will continue to use my Octopus Card whenever I'm in HK. Cheers!

The first and most interesting use of the app, using it to pay for public transport instead of using the card, is *not* included. All it does is administration of cards. How utterly boring.

In general, this app is quite convenient. However, there is one big flaw i.e. login section. Due to multiple login failed attempts, I tried to reset the password. The system says the email is sent to my registered email to confirm my change of password. Here's the problem, the inbox of my registered email is full;I can no longer receive emails,so I can't reset my password. I've discussed with the CS about this case. She says that I can't change my email address. Now, I cannot even use this app.

The one function of this app which should have been really useful is stuck behind terrible app design or something. In order to be able to top up your octopus with a bank account balance, you need to verify with your ID, which never works no mater how perfect you get your HKID to fit within the frame with perfect lighting. You can hold your phone up for 30 minutes and the frame will never turn green to help you progress. Useless app with wasted potential.
