I was told by PBS Help Desk this will not work on Google TV with Chromecast, however it appears to work fine for me. Although it doesn't show on the apps bar by default like Netflix etc, it is located in "More Apps" and I am able to play, pause, rewind, fast forward, etc. with no problems so far. The controls could be more responsive, and it's an extra step to access the app, thus the 4 stars.
the player in the app used to be great on my galaxy note 8 (android 9). dunno when it changed but now i get a white full-width bar at the top of the screen, the bottom is cropped off, and i have no playback controls; no pause, play, rewind, no slider, etc. it's unusable. the player is fine on my wife's galaxy s9. help.
Needs some common upgrades like minimize app and 10 second rewind/fast-forward buttons for convenience but it functions well enough to enjoy my favorite shows.
No resume watching. Constant audio and video sync issues when playing via chrome cast. I don't have this issue on any other app. This sync issue has been present for years, over multiple devices. For a "free", government funded television service, they sure lock episodes quickly.
Reasonably good, but annoying in that the items in 'my list' aren't synchronized with other devices. For example, removing an item from another device (Roku) is NOT reflected in this app, but IS on the website version. Otherwise, a decent app.
Great content but numerous functionality issues: doesnt auto play next episode, exits out at the end of an episode so you need to go back in and search again, controls at bottom of screen so accidental touch when trying to rotate out of app, previously watched doesnt show up so you need to search again.
I cannot cast from my android device to my TV. The casting icon is shadowed out. When I first joined, I had no problem. Also, there is no technical help option. There will be no membership from me if this is not corrected.
It has all the experiences and answers of attractions, places to visit, things that matter today . I find it very informative, very helpful, interesting and I enjoy watching this show. 👍🏻🙂🇨🇦
I ♥️ PBS and am a dedicated financial supporter. WIVB Buffalo-Toronto in my opinion is the best station in the PBS franchise. The fact that WIVB includes Toronto in it's viewership also allows us here in Buffalo to enjoy the best that PBS has to offer. I love British television and documentaries and Canada being with in the British Commonwealth allows us to enjoy all of that British programming has to offer.
I just downloaded this app to my laptop and am very dissatisfied. Once I select show there appears to be NO WAY for me to scroll through to select what seasons or episodes that I want to watch
This probably would be a great app to watch my favorite Masterpiece shows, but unfortunately, there is no sound to any of the videos! Tried everything to restore sound but nothing worked. Very disappointing!!!
**Update** My faith is restored in PBS. Just heard from Mark, this is a system wide problem. I'm back to 5 stars for PBS and plan to contact Roku. Merry Christmas everyone!** The Livestream no longer works on my Roku. I have called and left a message and sent 2 detailed emails, 1 to developer & 1 to engineering which I hope is tech support. I am very disappointed. PBS says it supports it's viewers. Really not feeling it tonight.
Extremely glitchy. Often takes forever to load just the Home screen.
I am a monthly paid member to PBS. I sign in with my account on this app and can only watch preview. The app switches video episodes between full-length and preview. The full-length videos cannot be viewed with this app. DISAPPOINTMENT from a paid customer...
High quality and wonderful variety of interesting, informative, entertaining content. Television at it's best.
This app doesn't have even the most rudimentary functions. No rewind or fast forward. I have to re-watch ads if I go to a different app even if I've left the pbs app open. This is a terrible streaming app. It's unfortunate because PBS programs are so wonderful but trying to watch them with this app is just miserable. FIX this!
