Peel Smart Remote

The app itself is really awesome which is the only reason i have it three stars. It's perfect for when we lose the remote. I've used this for years. HOWEVER! There are soooooooo many ads recently it's gross. The ads pop up in every program about every 10-15 mins! Very very annoying and disruptive! I actually came here to delete app because I can't take it anymore

This came as a different stock app on my phone that was fully functional and ad free and as soon as it changed to Peel Smart Remote, it has been an annoyance ever since. I've kept it so long because it at least served some small amount of utility but it's not worth the trouble anymore. There's no longer an option to remove the remote from the notification bar anymore and my phone battery is aging, I can't afford to keep the app if I have no more control over it than that. I will say that the app is useful and works fairly well as long as you don't lose your settings every time it updates, like I seemed to.

I used to LOVE this app. It was so easy and convenient. Now, the ads are ridiculous. I understand having a few ads here and there while in the app, but when I'm on Facebook or go to unlock my phone and a random, full screen ad pops up when I'm not even in the Peel app, it is incredibly annoying. When I'm using your app, take away 10 seconds of my time with an ad, whatever. But when I'm not even using your app? Don't give me ads on my phone. They're like PC pop-ups and it's ruined everything about this app.

I had found this app useful but then my phone was always going flat and it turned out that the app was starting up my screen with ads and screens saying "good morning " & the like. Every time I unlocked my phone and tried to use my phone, one of these screens followed by an ad would start, preventing me from doing what I needed until the ad was over and I could exit the screen the app had opened. Sometimes it would randomly happen in the middle of the night and suddenly there'd be a voice talking! It scared me a few times. I don't know why any developer would put something so inconvenient and frustrating in their app to be entirely honest. I couldn't find any settings to change so I had to delete the app to remedy the problem. I am normally a "positive review" type of person but in this case I felt like I wish someone had warned me so I felt it important to warn others. This app will hijack your phone and drain your battery.

This app was amazing when I got it years ago.. Worked perfect, especially when the remote for the TV went missing; which it did a lot. There were so few ads that I really didn't mind it. But any more, the ads pop up ALL the time.. Even when the app is closed, there are ads. Every time I go to swipe my phone open, there the ads are.. And more pop up when I close out of them. I will be randomly using the phone, and there the ads are. This app just got deleted because it has more ads that pop up unwanted when the app is not even on, that it makes it impossible to use the phone correctly without major ad interruptions. And for that, I gave it two stars. Only gave it two because the app itself works, but the ads are the devil. Enough said...

It works well enough for all of my tvs/dvd players, but I'm not a fan of it randomly high jacking my phone screen for commercials/the screen saver/battery saver features. Or how I can only turn the notifications off for a month at a time. It also has a little pop up that gets in the way on my screen until I click on it to close it. It can be annoying, but it does it's job.

I love everything about this app, except for one thing... It opens ads on my phone all the time. Not just when I'm using it, which would be annoying enough, but ALL the time. It opens ads all the time, and totally interrupts whatever it is that I'm trying to do, sometimes locking my phone up for 10-20 seconds loading the clunky ads, and the ads are TIMED so you can't get rid of them unless you push the home button causing you to have to leave the other task you were trying to do.

I have no need for this app, but it came with my phone. Sometimes while listening to Spotify (which I pay for) it interrupts my music with ads. It stops the alarm that wakes me up for work so I always have a missed alarm notification. Luckily I have another alarm set. I've tried to disable the ads in settings, but it doesn't seem to help. Just now I tried to delete the app itself, but it's still there! If you have a remote for your tv you do not need this one.

Very useful app. But basically you need to uninstall after every use unless you want major popups on your phone while trying to use other apps or simply trying to make a call or use your camera or just about anything. It's very annoying and intrusive. , it literally stops you from using other apps no matter what you're trying to do it will pop up an ad or the app itsself at the worst times, trying to force you to use it no matter if you near your television or not. Even when trying to unlock your lock screen. Way too many pop-ups and advertisement very distracting.

Remote itself works perfect and was easy to set up. The ads popping up are ridiculous. I wouldn't mind an ad on the remote itself but for it to randomly pop up WORTHLESS ads at any time on my phone even when it is locked is just stupid. It also disappears from my recently used apps so I have to reopen it everytime we need to use it. I don't understand how it disappears and is not active but can still manage a popup ad. I do not like this app and will uninstall as soon as i find my remote.

Way too invasive. This app is great when I want to use it, but I can't turn it off. It uses up my battery and spams me with ads, EVEN WHEN I DISABLE THE APP (this is a new "feature"). It puts stuff on my lock screen that do unwanted things when my phone is in my pocket. I can't turn this off, and I can't turn off any notifications for more than 30 days. I do like to use it occasionally, and I don't mind an occasional ad when I am using it, but it is just horrible the rest of the time.

The app was great for awhile. I could use my phone as a remote for my TV. I had lost my remote so it was really convenient to be able to use this. However, recently I've started getting invasive ads that take up my whole screen and I haven't even launched the app recently. I'd wake up to an ad for an item I'd recently looked at and it said it was through peel remote app. I'd x out of the ad and there would be another. Usually after two they would be gone. It was very annoying, so I will be deleting this formerly great app.

I hate it so much! It's interfering with everything I do! It's becoming increasingly intrusive! Ads pop up while I'm typing, probably to get me to click ads inadvertently, also when I'm not using the phone & screen turned off. It turns on screen & overrides the lock screen in the middle of the night while I'm asleep, often with video & sound ads which wake me up! I beg you to fix this or just let people uninstall! You are literally ruining my life! Too tired to go to work today thanks to you!

I tried re-enabling this app after turning it off due to high amounts of notifications in the past. I don't mind getting ads on free versions of apps like this, but it's incredibly annoying the way this one does it. Placing blatantly invasive full screen ads whenever I unlock my phone is not okay at all. Especially when you're not actively using it. I would have considered paying for the full version since it is very cheap, but these ad placements are unacceptable even if it is free.

I absolutely HATE this app. I dont use it and NEVER will! Nothing but an overlay screen to a screen I already have, and I ALWAYS have an ad pop up or it plays without even clicking on it. I've tried to disable this app. Always have to swipe the app to get to the screen saver on my phone which I have to swipe again just to get to my home screen. Annoying ads. Hope I don't have an emergency, cause the few minutes of swiping just to be able to make a call, a person could die. Very frustrating!!!!

Do NOT bother installing! I have never had any app bombard me with so many ads. I can accept them when they show up whilst I'm IN the app but they literally pop up at random times as it forces a constant background run on your phone! To make things worse, it came preloaded on my Samsung phone so I can't even uninstall it. I've disables it for now but somehow seems to keep coming back. STAY AWAY!!!

Annoying, annoying, annoying. Can't stand all the pop up ads. This app came as a built in with my phone and I can't wait to be rid of it. It just pops on even when my phone is just sitting there. I've even missed calls because the the stupid thing just pops on. Will make sure my next phone doesn't have it as a built in app for sure. Would give it 0 stars if possible.

Its dangerous and unsafe! The function of the remote is fine, it works. But, the ads, holy moly the ads. The ads are actually dangerous. They pop up whenever the screen is unlocked. This means, in an emergency, you will be unable to call for help. The ads also pop up whenever the phone is plugged in and when the charger is removed. This results in lower battery life, meaning the phone may not have enough charge if you actually needed the phone to act like a phone. The ads are so dangerous. A simple fix would be to have them pop up only when I access the app. Let us be honest, I am not going to by anything from the ads. Heck, I dont even look the ads! Just a shame to see a perfectly good app go to waste. Uninstalled it today.

The ads are horrendous. There's a paid for feature but its only temporary. I had a friend tell me that they bought it and about a month later the ads came back. He will be contacting support about that thankfully. This is a terrible ir app but since I have a custom rom i can't use apps like Samsung's remote or lg's built in app. Hopefully I'll find one that I can use instead of this. Pros: I love that it has a guide and I can just touch a show and it will change my channel. I love how fast and the clean ui (without the ads) I enjoy that they regularly update the kinds of TVs and devices that work. Cons: ads and the lack of being able to pay for the app.

It works good as a remote control app. but it is constantly jamming ads down your throat and then it automatically becomes a screen saver with news stories on your phone. The last straw is it was actually interrupting my games in the middle of critical stages of games. If it just stuck to being a remote control application it would be fine but it just keeps pushing until you have to delete it.

The app works well but the ads are annoying. I paid for a subscription for an ADD FREE experience but I still get ads. Why?!!! Feb 8th, 2019: I opened a support ticket 28 days ago. I got back an acknowledgement emai but that's it. l purchased a monthly subscription to get rid of the ads but they kept coming. Even when the app is not running I get pop-up ads that interrupt whatever I'm doing constantly. I will uninstall or disable this app which is a shame because it works well.

Peel is an intelligent app which can be programmed to perform conditional operations. For example, when you step out of your house, you have to turn off the TV and AC, dim lights, set locks, and alarms etc. Interestingly, you can do all of it with Peel simultaneously using a single button. You only have to group the controls and you’re good to go.

Hate the full screen ads. They make it so you can not use your phone till the ad is done running. The ads come on every time you turn your phone on. Please stop the ads when I'm not in your app. or I will delete it. I'm tired of not being able to quick look at my phone without an ad running for awhile. Ver, very, very unhappy since you changed the app. update* I am deleting this app. Sad to do it, but peel has not given me any other choice.

1)Annoying adds pop up all the time. 2) i cant un-install the thing and it keeps bugging me all the time. 3) sometimes when i go charge the phone and turn it off, the app decides to work for no reason, waking up the phone while it does so. 4) randomly decides to start working in the middle of the night, waking me up in the process... AND I DONT EVEN USE THE THING
