It hooked up fine. works the way it should. the reason why im giving it a 2 stars is because it randomly places ads and if you're playing a timed game, it's gonna cost you. lol. it brings you to a whole new page & have to click the close button. Too much ads and it's very inconvenient. Even when I turn on my phone, theres an ad before I can even get to my swipe screen to unlock my phone. It will also randomly wake your screen when the ad comes on. Ads all the freaking time.
This is the most invasive app I've had on my phone. Not in the sense of personal details invasive, but it randomly pops up adds when you haven't used it. The ads often lag far behind when you have closed the app. In some cases I have used to the app to turn my TV off at night, close all apps on my phone, go to work, get home, start playing a game a solid 20 hours after I last used it and it interferes at the most inopportune moments. Pop-up ads are common now, but you don't want an app that will flood any app with it's pop-ups. No app is good enough to justify that.
ADS, ADS, ADS, ADS, ADS! too many! and the lock screen widget never comes on when I actually need it, only when I'm trying to do something else, and then I have to back out of it 6 times just to get back to whatever I'm trying to do! the remote functions are great, all that stuff works as it should, but as far as the rest of the junk they cram in there goes, it's unnecessary and annoying... 2 stars for good remote functions, low rating for the issues I've mentioned..
.. I thought this would be much better than it is. ended up getting another handheld remote. Going into Apps and settings and disabling all the features on this and blocking it. It didn't take 5 minutes thank goodness. End of that mess. With all the features I'd love to be a beta tester and work on it but the app ads are just way too much. Could have been cutting edge. . . add a spambot for both home and cell phones that really works and you will have something everybody wants.
If it were only the in app ads it would be great but its not just app adds. It's horrible, every time my phone goes to standby I get a lock screen add so I'm not able to take quick photo's. I really like the app and I'm tempted to remove it, but I like it enough to deal with the lock screen adds. You can't just purchase the app because there's a monthly fee of $0.99. I feel the app would be rated higher if it had a purchase fee of $4.99 to $10.00 and no monthly fees, which I think would sell more and make the app #1 in it's class.
This app came installed on my Galaxy S6. The remote feature is great, but the interference with the operation of my phone is unacceptable. I pay a subscription to turn off the ads and they're still there. All the time, not just when I'm using the app. I'm trying to text, and I get an ad that pops up saying "sponsored by peel smart remote." I shouldn't have to watch an ad to use my phone. I also get "Breaking News" screen overlays which I turned off permissions for but still come up.
The app itself does a great job as a remote. But the ads are a no-go for me. There are tons of free remote apps out there and I'll gladly have some ads, but not this. My phone rings, I pick it up, go to answer, and an AD pops up to block me from answering my phone! Are you kidding me?! Happens all the time. Shame, it was such a good remote app, but not worth the trouble. You couldn't pay ME $0.99/mo to keep this thing!
The remote part works great. I really don't have a problem with this app except for one thing. I know this is a free app and I should expect adds, but having to close an add every time i turn on my phone or every five minutes of being on my phone (not using the peel remote) is enough to make me start looking for my remote control so I can delete this app. I've even resorted to deleting this app and getting up and walking to the tv to change vol and channels.
Easy to set up. Their list had 4 of 5 of our tv/dvd, and one is an old sony and a proscan!Very easy to use once have the code. Other apps are more difficult and then don't end up having your tv. Easiest one I've tried. Ads are very small area on the bottom of the remote. Not intrusive as other apps are. If your TV is not on the list, then get another app. Do not give bad rating because you can't use it. That does not tell how the actual app works. We want reviews that help.
this remote works really good and it has nice features. I would love this app and use it a lot but it pops up a lot of ads. I'll be on a different app and then it'll just randomly pull up an ad and I'll have to wait 3 seconds until I can close the ad, it's ridiculous! the remote works great and all but I can't tolerate the ads. if just that problem was fixed i would absolutely love this app.
AVOID THIS APP. I am unable to delete the app entirely, it continuously auto updates even though I have that function turned off, and the continuous barrage of ads is frustrating and makes even just sending a text difficult. The ads pop up in the middle of what you're doing, so if you're in the process of typing you will end up clicking the ad. The ads also freeze my phone. I have no need for this app, I don't want this app, I didn't even download the app, yet I can't get rid of this trash.
One of the most annoying apps I've ever had. And, unfortunately it comes preinstalled on my S6. If you want to use it, you actually never close it because it stays in the notification bar. Honestly, I only want to control my TV/or other media when I'm close to them. If you never open it (I just reset my phone), it still bugs you with ads that even cover your lockscren. Horrible experience! However, if you can get past these awful design decisions, it does have an impressive device db and works
I do not like that it pops up adds even though it has not been opened. It will have an add running the minute I open or unlock my phone. It works fine other than that. Adds are part of most apps, they shouldn't run on their own though. And the app shouldn't be the first thing to open up on my phone either. It will start up on it's own. And I can't fully delete now. Awesome!
EXCELLENT compatibility! Everything I need, if I go somewhere and can't change the input. Controls even the most obscure brands. Room for improvement - unfortunately I had to uninstall,, it runs in the background, putting ads on my lockscreen, even, and my phone was so slow I couldn't receive texts. Is there a way to disable this, or could you offer a pay version that I can disable while I'm away from my TV? I don't need a remote or ads about an upcoming show when I'm driving in traffic

The absolute worst application I have ever installed on my phone. I am an IT technician that specializes in home theater. This application is invasive. This application is convoluted. When installed, this application, forces ads to pop up on your phone even when the application is not running. These ads can interfere with other applications that are currently running. Oftentimes, the application will lose connection with the television for no reason. It will become unresponsive, randomly.
If I could uninstall this app, I would. However it came with installed with the app and it won't let me uninstall. I rarely use this app, maybe 2-3 times a month. Yet it changes my settings, it places full screen ads on my lockscreen and while I'm using it. I don't mind ads within the app when I use it. But it's different when it takes over. I've taken all the permissions away within the settings in my phone and took away permission within the app. And STILL it places ads and changes phone settings. If you are thinking of downloading, don't. If you have it installed just disable it and maybe just maybe it won't come back alive to take over.
it is very useful app. The lock screen situation is truly weird. This isn't an ad, but there's no way to know what app is producing the overlay. It only appears when charging, and includes the time, weather, and settings alerts. Annoyingly, it obscures your notifications and adds another swipe to unlocking the phone. Let's face it—no one wants a lock screen overlay regardless of whether or not it has
Yes, it works as a remote for your TV if you lose your original one. But it is not worth it. The fact that this app is allowed to pull up ads at any point in time you are using your Android device is absolutely absurd. You can be doing literally anything on your phone (not even using the app itself) and it will pull up a full screen advertisement that stops you from doing whatever you are doing. I've never had an app more frustrating and intrusive as this one.
How is this rated so high? it keeps pushing ads which is the worst but recently after it decided to update itself it added a button at the log in screen which happens to be next to finger print button. so it's super easy to hit it accidentally when trying to open the phone. Then it shoots ads at you. It also can update you on t.v. that's on. Don't want to watch that? Not interested? too bad, you still get a notification. finally- you can't take off any of that permanently. only 1 month. Deleted!
It works great, but when I decided I didn't want it anymore because of the popup ads, I uninstalled it, but it just keeps reinstalling itself!! After about a week, there it is again constantly popping up ads out of nowhere interrupting me while I'm doing other things on my phone. It's wrong for them to reinstall it on my phone after I've uninstalled it! Ugh...it's SO frustrating!!!
The app works great, and it's handy to have when I lose my remote. But, I just can't handle the intrusive, full screen ads that pop up when I'm not even using the app. It's not even running in the background, and they pop up anyway. So I enable this app when I need it, and then immediately disable it again. Maybe in the next update, you guys could get the ads a bit more under control? I don't mind them when I'm actively using the app but, when I'm not, they shouldn't be there at all.
It works great as a remote. But it insists on being more than a remote, and on taking over your device to show you popup ads at random times *even when the app is not open*. It has "settings" that let you disable such things, but even if you turn them of it will continue anyway. If you remove all permissions from it via your phone's settings, it will still manage to insert its popups at random times. I have yet to find a working way to uninstall it.
Ads from hell. Full screen pop-up ads randomly show up that you are forced to close. I was driving along using Google Maps when one of Peel's ads took over the screen. I had to take my eyes off the road in order to touch and close the ad to allow me to get back to Google Maps. I would give this app zero stars if possible. Too bad I can't totally remove it from my Samsung device.
I love this remote. It works for everything I need to use it for. I don't have to worry about prying the "real" remote out of my man's clutches after he falls asleep watching something. My only complaint is the ads. Anytime I unlock my phone I get a pop up ad. The big annoyance is that it also pops up an ad when I get a phone call. I've missed more than one call trying to get the stupid ad to close.
it works great. unfortunately, this app has THE MOST INTRUSIVE ADS I'VE EVER SEEN. This app will change your own lock screen into an advertisement. or it will throw up a full page ad in the middle of a Netflix show. yep. It actually paused a show I was watching, and threw up a full page ad. even though I wasn't even using the app at that time. so my advice to you, is to make sure to uninstall the Peel App after you are finished using it. I have never seen ads that are this annoying.
