Needed to use the photo verification feature. To use it you have photograph yourself from the front, then turn your head, whilst making sure your profile is withing the template. If you take a poor side profile, you have to start over and take a front photo again. The template would work better if it changed from red to green to indicate if your camera is close enough. There isn't an example of the sort of photos you need to take, so the side profile catches you off guard.
The instructions about how to get the QA code on the gov.uk website do not match what you actually need to do. The WORST is the photo functionality because it takes it automatically even when it's obvious there is glare. It was incredibly irritating and a massive waste of time to keep redoing and sort the glare before it took the photo - almost impossible. And the glare was awful. Had to move all around the room to try and avoid light and then put paper around it. Dunno if it will be accepted.
I have never experienced a more frustrating and complicated task than this download app. After many hours and days of trying also phone calls to the help site it is nearly impossible to get success.my advice to potential candidates who want to try to download this app is to have plenty of valium and black coffee handy and after failing for the umpteenth time it might be time to think about getting drunk and forgetting the experience!!!
absolutely awful. instructions appalling. should read: Hover over the document for ages til your hand starts shaking, then it won't collect the image. Once you've gone through this several times and failed to get an upload, THEN you get the option to take a photo of your doc. Good Luck guys holding onto your sanity during this process. after you look really stressed u have 2 take your own photo 3 times from 3 different angles one of which was impossible for a normal human being to manage.
takes ages to download and install. Incredibly slow to use. Couldn't verify my data at the first time consuming attempt even though I've had no difficulty with rival services. Took further amounts of time consumed to take photos of me which didn't even seen to work. The app is just useless. I cannot believe the government is paying these idiots to verify identification instead of a cursory few second but effective check in a benefits office. For information I've a fast fibre broadband connection
Feedback poor. Although the process is quite easy the overall system seems to rely on SMS which I didn't think was very secure. Also during the registration steps there isn't a great deal of on-screen feedback ie when trying to upload a selfie. Selfies are not a routine activity for everyone and feedback as to why a particular shot wasn't accepted would be helpful. I can't see myself using this 'Verify' system again so the app/acct will be deleted as soon as registration on Gov.uk is complete.
When first setting it up in the website it should state the password has to ve very strong, and give sone guidance as to what length it should be, and content it should have. There is nothing more annoying trying to make up a password than having it continually rejected.. The app works ok but you need to be patient when scanning and verifying, particularly with the selfie.
The document recognition failed several times, though managed to take a picture of it. To send selfies is required by the law but the app turns the camera upside down so to get the pictures right is very difficult. Also, the only reason I had to use this app because the Royal Mail website couldn't verify my bank account. They can take payment from the same account, but can't verify my identity when it's needed. Joke...
Terrible App. One of the worst App's I've ever used. When asking for 2 step authentication after scanning a QR code it sends you a code to enter, everytime the code is entered it says wrong code? The most frustrating app I've ever had and trying to do official business (for what its designed for) when working at sea and the app isn't working is like omg.
Buttons randomly not working. Had to quit the app after checking a photo was sharp enough, as I couldn't return the submit screen. The app also failed to update alongside the website registration, meaning I had to submit documents multiple times. In all it took 45 minutes to fail to set up an account to check my own tax codes on HMRC. A frustrating app that is also a huge waste of time.
I'm from the "technology generation" and I'm impressed. I didn't realise how smooth the process of uploading your identification document would be. Super easy to follow and really impressive. It took 1 minute tops.
After you install it and press open it won't let to go to anything apart from the two icons on the bottom of the screen. Also, it doesn't mention to tell you NOT to press open but to go back to the web page you were on previously if you're using a phone.. as you only need to scan documents QR if you're on a tablet or computer... Complete and utter waste of precious time..
