I find the update a bit intrusive : I don't need Spotify recommendations from scanning my personal music library. I burn my CDs in the quality I want and simply want to listen to them on the go. I don't need my musical tastes and profile to be sold to a third party company or shared. Forcing consent to access the listening functionality for my own library is not an option.
I love this app! One very important feature missing though, the ability to save playlists for when you switch from one device to another (change of phone for example). Currently, you have to do them again manually, which is just a lot of time waisted, compared to other music players who offer this functionnality
This app is nice and does the job. I like that over time features that were present in any other player were nicely added. There are still for me 2 major drawbacks which makes me always use other apps: . my library has way over 10.000 titles, and I cannot shuffle them. I get a 10.000 limitation message when I hit "Shuffle Play" or "listen all", or even when I pick a title from the track view. It will play only titles from A to G or the following 10.000 titles of the current title. Google Play on the same device (or Walkman on another device)do not have this limitation, so why Samsung Music has it ? . When you listen to a title, that sometimes gives an immediate idea for the next title you want to listen, or someone will request an immediate title in parties: I would like to have a "listen next" choice when I press on a title while browsing or searching . The current "add to queue" is not enough as I want to be able to prioritize a specific title right away. Again both Google Music or Walkman have this.
I generally like this app, but the 20,000 song limit really bugs me. I have my whole music collection on my phone and it sucks that I can't access the whole thing. Also, why does no decent/ad-free app allow a feature to sort/ filter by year? It would be nice when making playlists to include this feature. Say I wanted to make a playlist called "my senior year", it would be much easier if I could sort by year. Seems like an easy and obvious feature to have, yet NO apps have it.
The app is quite good. It's good on most features that the average person would consider important such as interface, ease of access, functionality, etc. Recently, however, I've been experiencing an issue with the volume insofar as it will constantly fluctuate and become muffled during playback regardless of sound settings or max volume. If this issue is addressed (and soon), I'd consider raising my current rating. Until then, though, I have to keep it at 3 Stars!
It's disappointing to have a music player that offers playlist but once a playlist is selected it won't play the playlist, it plays the all the songs that are in the music library instead. So when in a mood and want to listen to something different and just those particular songs on a certain list and I've got to listen to everything instead. Defeats the whole purpose of having playlists then.
It alright as a music player. However, having the option of a current playlist queue would be greatly appreciated. Something similar to how Google Play Music used to be where you could see what's playing next and have the ability to remove songs from, or add song to, the current playlist. If it already exists as a feature, then making it easier to find would be great.
The app is pretty basic but works really well on my phone. I like how the music continues playing even with the app shut and when I press play last song in the media section it's faster to play the song then if the last song was on another app. I'd love to see some kind of lyrics section which I don't think there is.
I've used this app for 10 years if not close to it, so Idk if this is a new change or if my phone is just THAT much of a pos, but Samsung music no longer shows in my notification tray. I thought I could live with it, but I don't think I realized just how much I relied on pulling down my noti tray to quickly open Samsung music regardless of what I'm doing on my phone. Then of course there's still the annoyance of only being to add 1000 songs to a playlist 😒
It's a very very good app but when you want to search for a soothing lo-fi song in your large catalyst of heavy metal...you can't. It'll take you to Spotify instead which isn't very convenient for people such as myself. Other than that it is a good app that I would recommend you install.
This app is so annoying, I've updated phone and had nothing but trouble trying to play all of my songs. The songs all appear on phone but on every other song I keep getting a message failed to play song. When this happens playback stops and I must restart playing again and it will skip a few songs. Please fix this app or I'll find another platform for music. Poor app.
This game is nice! and it's useful to. The problem is whenever I download music from YouTube, and listening to it, it would say "failed to playtrack" i mean it would be fix if I download it again but its just pretty annoying, Also If I try to change the image i would just say unknown error.
not good enough; this app should really be improved in many ways first of all different tracks can have different covers but what is shown for each track is the cover of their album, the UI surely needs to be redesigned in a way that matches the round bottom of Samsung phones, more customisation can be very positive user-experience wise, I think if there was a widget for playing specific playlists that would help a lot and the tag editor should contain lyrics editing too and much more to improve
Wont play almost all my music now. Says "failed to play". UPDATE- Had to convert all the music on my new phone (Samsung a53) from wma to mp3. For some reason new phone won't play wma. I used a "covert music to mp3 app" for all the songs. It worked and was easy. Samsung music app now plays all songs.
I loved it at first with the customization (like excluding unnecessary folders to play voice messages) and the shuffle options but now they are gone and it is like every other basic player in terms of function. It is also weird how it is not compatible with Google maps media. Otherwise, I like the interface and how easy it is to rename and delete tracks.
Way better than YouTube music (that can't shuffle correctly) and Amazon (too cumbersome). This app plays the music on your phone. No sign up. No slow "next song". Reminds me of when a music player played music, not try to sell you anything.
Galaxy M62 After the latest update when you plug in the headphones there is extremely loud buzzing and ticking noise!!!!!... Compleatly unusable!!! And yes the hedphones are working and the headphones jack is working. On YouTube as well when I make calls, the hardware is working top notch... But the app has same very bad issue, the noise is extremly loud even when the loudnes is low, it feels like the headphones are gona blow from the overload!!!!
I've been using Samsung music for as long as I can remember. Its fairly good quality for a free music player. I do wish there was more freedom when it comes to creating playlists, like using emojis or other symbols for example. I'm also bummed they got rid of the edge lighting being on while the music plays and the screen is open, that was a cool feature!
I don't wanna see this error message every once in a while: "Spotify isn't supported in your country". I never asked for Spotify at all! I've already been a victim of world sanctions against my country/people for my life (30 years). Apart from this, your app is damn awesome and lovely. So I'm way pissed with this error. Update on March 10, 2022: the search bar stopped working after the recent update. The only way to search is to use the microphone which is very irritating.
Review edited to remove one star. Gapless playback is not gapless at all, and has been like this for years. Samsung just seem to be ignoring this issue. Also, it still has a ridiculous 1000 track limit for playlists. Once again, a bare bones, just about get away with it app from Samsung. Underdeveloped, with rare updates, and not good enough to use as the default music player, but it does look nice.
I have tried other music apps and Samsung seems to have gotten it figured out. From sorting, queuing, and renaming, to creating Playlists and finding new music on my phone, Samsung makes it intuitive and effortless. My only critique, which is something that started recently (having used this for 15+ years) is that I need to allow permission each time I want to delete a song or make other changes. I see no options in app settings to permanently allow permission to delete and it gets tedious.
I've been using this app for the longest and it has never been a problem but this last update kind of messed it up a little. When I listen to one song its supposed to go to play the next song automatically but if it goes to the next song or I choose another song it doesn't play it until I press pause then play and then it will play the song. It is highly annoying having to do this with every single song.
I have had this app on EVERY phone and it always worked. However... On my Samsung Galaxy A42 it will not display my mp3 library folders, I have to go to my files and import a selected folder to get it to play that folder every time I want to switch my audio playback. Everyone seems to have issues with this formerly great app since the more recent updates. There is nothing wrong with admitting to a mistake, please go back to the iconic and reliable system that so many people enjoyed.
It's a really good app and I don't experience that much problems. However, I downloaded an audio that has includes the song's cover photo. On my files, the audio file has the correct photo but on samsung music it isn't. The photo featured on the audio on samsung music is a different photo. Also, I hope we'll be able to change a song's picture someday and not just the albums or playlists.
Mp3 files unsupported?? How? I've been using this app for years. Songs play, pause, skip, rewind and replay all on its own. Shuffle algorithm needs serious updating. This app was great now its forcing me to move on to another music player app. please fix
I am leaving a review just to say that after the last update , there is a really annoying bug , songs will appear as if they are playing but in reality they are not , and you need to manually pause and play the song for it to work , but overall good app
Not ideal. It's like a slightly less functional version of VLC. Am unable to select the folder structure where the specific playlist songs are kept. Only get one layer of folders that Samsung decides. No easily customised playlists, no point.
I have been using this app for a very long time but now I am forced to find a new music media player because this app nolonger plays my qued songs in my play list or specific folders. When I choose a song or podcast to play from my list or folders, this app will not play for following songs or podcasts in the order that they are qued to play. Instead, this app will randomly play any of the songs or podcasts in my MUSIC LIBRARY after I've started my play list.
Would have hit 5 if edge lightning hadn't been taken out. It seems the player now does not play tracks in order even shuffle disabled. Also tapping the next button doesn't work until after several attempts when it jumps to one random track.
I really hate the new update. Samsung music was the best app music, the black background was cool, the way the album colours changed the design was cool. Now, it looks so... OLD. Back to the old way Internet and websites looked like. No night mode, no choice given on how WE want to have our app. At least put a night mode on or let us choose wether we want a black or white version! It really upsets me.
