Very professional Well, McAfee LLC, I don't give 5 stars to any app, unless there is no way to improve it, and in my experience, there is always room for improvement 😉 in any situation, when dealing with technical issues! There does seem to be one problem you may want to look into, the update you want us to install, seems not to work, I've tried it on both my phones with no luck!
Overall McAfee is a good security app. HOWEVER, the app has virtually no menus to control or modify app settings. Just a useless homepage that pushes their security. score tool. McAfee: Give me back control over the app so I can tune it the way I want. A developer responded to my post, but the answer is not even close to providing access to settings. For example: turning on/off applications from security controls, VPN settings to allow autoreconnect and errors when it cannot.
Since the New update, terrible experience, I think the VPN and WiFi scanning are causing problems with connecting, constantly a spinning cursor until I switch the WiFi connection off and use my data connection, once the app or site starts to load I can switch the WiFi back on. Slows my phone down to something I had 6 years ago :( I didn't want a VPN) Update 20/05/2022 Blocks my WiFi Internet connection, I have to turn off safe browsig to get internet. still no memory tools.
I pay for the service and it used to give a level of confidence. Like a lot of others though seeing more and more issues. The VPN was a great addition but still not working after many months of updates. The other issue is I am repeatedly I have a data breach. To sort this I need a code. The mail never arrives before the app times out? My score is "fair" but I would prefer to know I am safe. Why do you have to split the app into so many sub apps? Just give me one that covers all devices.
I've been using the app for a long time and decided to use the new VPN feature, but when pressing the slider to turn it on it doesn't turn on and I get a notification saying, "remember to turn it on." How would I do that when it's not actually on. It'll flash and the slider will immediately slide back to the off position, so basically the VPN feature is bugged and not functional at all.
I like the added security of the VPN, but I've found it doesn't always automatically reconnect. I have to constantly check and then many times have had to manually reconnect my Android phone, even with the "always on" option selected. I also had to reinstall the App about 3 times within a 2 week period because the VPN refused to turn on again. Also, my wife's phone was not automatically updating to the most current version. Good experience for the most part, except for these glitches.
The App worked great the first few weeks but after that the VPN started disconnecting constantly even though I changed the settings to have the VPN on all the time. Now when I try to turn on the VPN it stays on a loop and never reconnects. I had to reinstall the App and it's still the same. The same thing happened on my tablet. Total disappointment.
Junk app. I WANT A REFUND ASAP. Doesn't work half the time, and now it won't open. I keep getting useless notifications even though I managed the notifications. Today I've been getting a notification saying that the scan is in progress. It's been showing for over 3 hours now, and it doesn't seem to be scanning anything. Can't get rid of the notification either. Pathetic app. I don't trust these people at all
Horrible. VPN started to turn off by itself just for me to constantly turn it back on; although, I had it set "on all the time". Now, in the past few days, it will not let me turn it back on. Yes, I even cleared the cache! I paid subscription for the main purpose of the VPN service but what service am I exactly paying? Definitely will be in the market for a different antivirus software once my subscription ends.
Notice to tech support, I can not navigate your website nor this app, but I have a paid subscription. But I'm finding that Google play is turning off the permissions to this app while I said not to in the settings. Maybe you should look into this. The whole idea of having a protective app is that it controls who can do what. And if Google can automatically turn off your settings for therfore lack of use in some areas raises great concerns. It has happened on 3 devices so far.
Normally I really appreciate this app however lately it has been a huge battery drainer with zero explanation. Constantly using nearly 50% of my battery life regularly. Not sure what changed or why it's using so much of my battery since I'm not downloading or doing anything that requires any scanning as I have scheduled scan time. Also, the features that used to be in the app are gone. You used to be able to see what the app was doing at that particular time as well as stats but not anymore.
cannot apply update. tried 3 times. sent a send log email explaining. Please advise when to try the update again. thanks. 5/16/22...ok guys! I continue to get notifications to do the update, but I continue to get the try again message when I do ...& no reply to me reporting at that point that it doesn't work for me. And turning off the device didn't work. Also,I accidentally paid annual premium twice. Pls credit one of them back to me. Thanks
The protection is probably ok but the service is spotty. Downloaded App multiple times. App doesn't tell when the service was started. App always stuck in learn mode. Constantly getting notification that my subscription about to expire. Those problems solved. Not sure that part of it wasn't Samsung which is constantly updating something. Both need to know that some people don't have WiFi available!
Having been with McAfee since 2016 & always having had good service I recently started to have all the problems that others were reporting & found it quite annoying that recent updates appeared to have both slowed the loading time on my devices & that VPN no longer worked. However, I have just simply uninstalled, reinstalled the app & signed back in & all is up & running again, including the VPN. Time will tell if it slows my devices, or the VPN stops working again. 4* may be amended up/down!
But, what bugs me is that once you have sent a notification and I've seen it, I should be able to remove it. Telling me that 24 hr protection is on and running in background is nice. Having the notification always on in foreground isn't my idea of running in the background!!!!!
Last update apparently broke the VPN. Same issue as reported by others, VPN will not turn on. Prior to last update the VPN worked quite well although it occasionally disconnected, now it's not providing the service for which we have all paid. I've done the usual clear cache, restart... Fix the VPN. Just tried the "send log" function and received "mailbox is full, try again later" message. Very annoying and still not working. I am having the exact issue that Luis reported on 5/4.
It's on, it's off, you turn it on and it tells you that you turned it off. To unpredictable. Don't trust it, won't buy it. The free version was bad enough, why would I pay for coverage that is unpredictable and the company basically blames the usres for all the problems. McAfee read the comments you're getting, it can't be always the users when most of the complaints are exactly the same!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Sorry Guys, You have completely lost the plot now. I have paid for 10 devices, but can't install on my phone as it goes round in circles with 'free 6 month trial'. How does that make sense when I have paid for a subscription of 12 months ? Over the past three years, each upgrade is worse than the previous version !
I went to renew my subscription for 3 devices and they charged me 94.99. I subsequently saw (the same day) that it was on sale for 24.99. I had to call back to get a refund. Should never have been charged the full amount to begin with. 2nd service person was helpful, but all speak broken English, like they are from India. Other issue is that it is a problem getting it onto my phone.
Sort it out. It's now just about app that advertises itself and other nonsense. There's no consistency in sign in on Web versus app, so you end up going round in circles. You've locked my account after I reset my password (even though Chrome stored it) so I require a passcode, but then I can't sign into the app, or reset password. Yet the permanent notification remains that you're 'protecting' me 24/7.
Overall the app is O.K. however the VPN never turns on. I have it set up to be on automatically no matter the wifi which never seems to activate. It also won't turn on manually either. I have tried multiple reinstalls but that works for less than a day before it won't turn on again. Looking down the reviews this seems to be a common complaint.
I can't seem to stay connected to the VPN feature. It shuts off & now I can't reconnect at all. Was this a free trial & now my trial period is up or what? I haven't been able to connect for a week now! I press on the connect button, it buffers & then doesn't connect. When I could connect, it disconnected itself multiple times a day. I find it frustrating, when I'm notified that I should reconnect, & I can't. Help please!
5 stars went to 2 stars May 4,2022 because I've been having unacceptable issues that have continuously shut off my VPN. I just had this fixed through Mcafee support and they had to uninstall then reinstall the app. This is the second time I've had this issue. Once I can deal with but more than that after it's already been addressed shouldn't happen. I've been using Mcafee products since was first available to the public and haven't had issues with VPN until I started using it with my phone
The VPN shuts off when i connect automatically to a wifi network (not every time, but the majority of the time). Isn't the VPN supposed to protect me, i.e. stay on while I'm on wifi? Isn't that the point of it? Plus, their tech support (when available, which is rarely) is horrible, just the worst I've encountered. I'm searching around for a better VPN, i.e. one that WORKS, as opposed to this piece of junk.
It used to have just the right level of comms to remain unobtrusive but still feel I am protected. Few updates ago it changed for the worse and I dislike it. I am now used to the background indicator. The VPN seems OK now but I still detest your upsell limit of 500MB. I also detest the extra key shaped indicator that comes with on for VPN and won't go away when I disable VPN.
This app is terrible, the VPN will not stay connected or it won't connect at all. There is no clear troubleshooting instructions on what to do when it's not working either. This app is very disappointing and it takes forever for a update to the app
Quite frustrating. The app keeps sending notices all the time telling me it's always working in the background to protect me. It keeps sending notices telling me that it has scanned an app and it is safe. I only need to know when there is a threat. You can't claim to be working in the background and tell me about it every five minutes! Another problem is that the secure VPN keeps disconnecting and then sends me another notice advising me to turn it on.
