Just changed to a new Samsung which didn't come with a preinstalled radio station. Looked through reviews and none appeared to be any good. Tried this one and it's actually really quite good. Haven't had any issues so far nice clear station can put best ones in a favourites list ads aren't an issue either as can close them straight away. Radio plays happily in background and swipe the whole thing to close it otherwise it gives an option to pause. Very happy.
I find that most these streaming apps are inconsistent, but it's hard to blame the app because the issue could just as easily be with your service provider. That said the issue for me is that the app doesn't always reconnect when going from wi-fi to cellular and vise versa. Also, where is the widget on my notification screen? I see it with other streamers (like RadioFM) so please add this useful feature.
Great app, I've used this to replace TuneIn, as it has all the stations I had bookmarked on that app. I left TuneIn after 10+years because it was just too buggy. This app gets 3 stars for being substantially less buggy, but it has its issues. My Pixel 4a running Android 12 doesn't recognize it as a media player. So there are features missing such as media controls from Bluetooth devices, media controls from the notifications menu, and media controls from the lock screen.
Love the app but hate the way the Adds don't close by just using the back button. Instead there are several ways to close the Adds. One is the close button when displayed. Another is a small x in the top left corner. I just want to hit the back button. 4 stars. Issue with app shutdown when another app or phone call interrupts the player. In the past, player always restarted, as it should. Pretty cheesy to break something then try and profit off it. 3 stars
Update: Now you cannot even look at the home screen without an ad overtaking it requiring you to exit out to see the original page. That's WITHOUT even touching anything, just looking at the the screen generates an ad! Also ads pop up if you even consider switching channels or pausing the stream. Live streams often loop and repeat for no reason. Deleting SR today.
Love it when it works, but just recently some advertisement is playing a music on a loop and can't be turned off. Even quiting the app won't solve the problem. After force stop of the app in phone settings the music stops. But starts again when trying to listen to radio. Unusable. Latest update didn't help.
When you select a radio station you have close the app completely to select another station. This is because a giant add comes over the screen that you cannot close as it takes you to the add website. Nor can you go back as it just doesn't work. Horrible way to make the app.
Another app absolutely ruined by ads. The app is constantly crashing now and when I open it I find an ad loaded. Need to close it. Oh another ad awesome. Open again ads across the bottom and ads loading into the main screen Just the current stupidity I get it you make money from ads But the ads are stopping me accessing the content which will lead me to downloading another app then you get no views
Too many ads!! Also cuts out every 3 or 4 minutes and the station has to been started again. Probably so a person buys the app which is reasonable too. I have tested the stations cutting out with my Sonos which can open the same stations and it does cut out so it is definitely the app. Too bad it is a good app if it worked
This app puts ads in the middle of radios emissions. For example, during an interview, it's cut by an add for a supermarket, then goes back to the interview.... but I have lost one full minute of it. Unacceptable!!!
No tuner and listed as ad free, but contains ads. Update. Thank you for noticing the review. If you were sorry for anything, maybe you should change your app description? You don't have a tuner, you have a link to sources of music!
I paid for this app for a year but several times a day it stops playing and it is very annoying. I miss many parts of news which I like to listen because it stops playing. I like to cancel the order. I don't have problem with internet connection. The problem is the app.
Probly would give 4 stars or better, but the 90 second lag time between actual radio and this app isnt a good thing. Especially during severe weather statements... 90 seconds means alot if something seriously severe is goin on.... It is a good app and works well otherwise.
Only just started using this app but so far I find it very straightforward , but have found it very difficult to find standard BBC radio 2 and 4 for example ... But local hospital radio is easy to find good tone what does keep cutting out at certain times of evening ...
It's an amazing app. Easy to use and got all radios worldwide. The amazing part is you don't need your antenna cable, just open the app and listen to what's happening in California while you are in Johannesburg. It's a great app. You can use other apps while still listening to your radio. I GIVE IT 5 STARS
Radio play does not automatically resume after calls or notifications. No info on current song playing. Adds for other audio apps display on whole screen when changing channels, and are difficult to close.
Used to be good, didn't mind the ads but this latest Tim Horton ad is just too annoying and difficult to remove easily. Sometimes I need to close app then reopen to clear ad. I guess I could pay to remove ads but easier to delete app and find another. 👎
430 tracking attempts blocked from companies in Simple Radio app. At this point, I'm not really sure you deserve three stars. That being said, I like the station and music selection
Best for international stations. I used it for two months and it has not failed me. I do not like using Pandora because it stops and play ads. This app has ads that are not in the way. Simple Radio lets me connect to stations in Hong Kong, Canada
Good app only problem is the in app purchases. When I try to listen to what I select the add pops up expected, but it plays sound and shuts off what you selected. Hit play again and another pop up comes up with sound and shuts off the selection again. Have to do this a few times before success.
It was good for a few months, and then I don't know what happened. I haven't added any other apps. It will play for maybe a few minutes and then just stop and I can't get it started again to play anything. I think it has something to do with the full screen ads that pop up. I don't know but it's unfortunate because I really thought I'd finally found the perfect radio app. Good luck! 😐
This is a great app. Finding a fm radio app never was a problem. However, finding a radio app that had am was impossible until now. The adds are not bothersome and i can listen to my favorite local am radio station on the go. Wish i could give more stars.
the title says it all this is a simple radio it beats services I have used to a long time like Spotify ( which is garbage and charged me for nothing) ,it is also way better then jango and Iheart radio combined there is the minimal amount of ads and the music they deliver is up to every one of my expectations with many channels to browse through if I am not feeling one specific style of music, Great job guys keep it up
It's a decent radio app, but the video ad overlays are really obstructive. When I have to reload a station, I have to wait for a video ad to finish before I can do it.
On my list of go-to apps. Instant access to a vast number of radio stations from across the country, and the world. Highly recommend this for any sports fan! This is one of the apps that always gets put on any new phone or device! Do yourself a favor and download it NOW!
Wow after downloading and uninstalling a bunch of radio apps because of obnoxious ads in the middle of songs, or not the stations I wanted, I was so happy to find this easy to use, straight forward radio app! It does what it says and does it well! A++ to the developers. More bells and whistles doesnt always mean better, a simple quality app is much better! I will be looking into the paid subscription, I dont know how you can improve on what you have now! Great work!
Useless for getting local radio stations. I tried searching on call letters as well as frequency and the local stations never came up. Other than the search, I don't see any other way to tune the radio. Seems like this app is only for streaming despite what the description says. If the app determines the phone has no radio support, the UI should have an indication of that
It's a great app for it gives me an opportunity to listen to radio stations from around the world,just improve on the ads it just to much and so inconveniencing otherwise it's a great app
I have an Android heading in my car and when i installed the"simple radio" app i liked the stations and the sound quality but the user interface is so bad.. You cannot swipe to go to the next station, re-arrange the favorite stations once you added them..plus the "now playing" blue bar at the bottom is hiding half of the last raw of the favorite stations.. probably the app was not adjusted to be used in a landscape mode
I've only used this app for a few days, but I'm happy with it and I'll be using it a lot. I was delighted with the selection of international stations. Perhaps this makes this a niche review, but to be able to listen to great stations from Uruguay, good old Puerto Vallarta, and Ireland as I drive across Utah, is just awesome. The interface is dated, but simple to use, and the search function works well (But don't leave trailing spaces or you will get zero results. That needs to be fixed.)
